How to unlock the World XI Master. achievement in FIFA 07 - Definitive Guide
Before you can try for the "World XI Master" achievement, you must first unlock the World XI team. To do this, you need to earn points in Challenge Mode. Thankfully, you will not need to play too many games, as you only need to obtain 2000 points.
The challenges you should complete are described below, each with a mini-guide. If you are having trouble with any particular challenge, you can use Team Management menu under 'My FIFA 07' to change the line-up and tactics of your opponents before the game. You can even transfer all the best players to the team that you wish to use, and poorer players to your opponents to make the challenge much, much easier.
Level 1. There are six challenges available to you. All are available from the start. Completing each of these six challenges will earn you a total of 1500 points.
The Closer: Marseille v Valencia C.F. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Win the match in regular time.
- Score with a late substitute (65 minutes or later).
Suggestion: Use a tactic with 3 strikers, but keep your best three strikers on the substitutes bench. Substitute them on to the pitch after 65 minutes. Aim to have a comfortable lead beforehand, just in case.
Point Reward: 250.
Challenges Unlocked: Level 5. 'Doubled Up' and 'Flying Forward'.
Hold It: Inter v Schalke 04. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Win the match in regular time.
- Maintain a possession percentage of 60 or higher.
Suggestion: Gain a comfortable lead, and then pass the ball between your defenders.
Point Reward: 250.
Challenges Unlocked: Level 3. 'Middle of the Pack' and 'Great Goalie'.
Proper Passer: Milan v Liverpool. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Win the match in regular time.
- Maintain a passing percentage of 60% of higher.
Suggestion: Avoid using long passes. Once you have a comfortable lead, complete many short passes between your defenders.
Point Reward: 250.
Challenges Unlocked: Level 6. 'One Man Army' and 'It Takes Two'.
Aiming True: Lyon v Barcelona. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Win the match in regular time.
- Get 60% of your shots on target.
Suggestion: Avoid shooting from long range or from wide angles. Once you have a comfortable lead, avoid shooting to protect your shots on target percentage.
Point Reward: 250.
Challenges Unlocked: Level 7. "Terrible Twosome" and "The Fast Lane".
Always On: Manchester Utd v Bayern München. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Win the match in regular time.
- Avoid being caught offside.
Suggestion: Play with a single striker. Avoid through-balls and long passes.
Point Reward: 250.
Challenges Unlocked: Level 4. "Premium Passer" and "To Have and Hold".
3 Times Lucky: Real Madrid v U.N.A.M. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Win the match in regular time.
- Score 3 goals with 3 different players.
Suggestion: Play with three strikers. Once one has scored, substitute them for another striker, until 3 different players have scored.
Point Reward: 250.
Challenges Unlocked: Level 2. "Sparkling Clean" and "Going Forward".
Providing you have completed all challenges within level 1, you should have earned 1500 points. The challenges unlocked from Levels 2, 3 and 4 are all in Amateur difficulty, and will each earn 250 points, whilst the challenges unlocked from Levels 5, 6 and 7 are all in Semi-Professional difficulty, and will each earn 350 points. It is suggested that you play any two of the six new Amateur challenges. They are once again detailed below, each with a mini-guide.
Level 2.
Sparkling Clean: America v Necaxa. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Receive no bookings.
- Earn a clean sheet.
Suggestion: Play with multiple defenders, possibly in a 5-4-1 formation. Avoid using the sliding tackle to avoid receiving a yellow card.
Point Reward: 250.
Going Forward: Querataro v San Luis. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Avoid being caught offside.
- Score with a forward.
Suggestion: Play with three strikers, possibly in a 3-4-3 formation. Once you have scored at least one goal, avoid using long forward passes or through balls.
Point Reward: 250.
Level 3.
Middle of the Pack: Bayern München v VFL Bochum. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Score with a late substitute (75 minutes or later).
- Score with a midfielder.
Suggestion: Begin the match with five attack-minded midfielders. Start with your three best strikers on the bench. Aim to score with a midfielder before the 75th minute. After the 75th minute, change your formation to 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 and substitute all three of your strikers on to the pitch.
Point Reward: 250.
Great Goalie: Leverkusen v Energie Cottbus. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Score with a goalkeeper.
- Earn a clean sheet.
Suggestion: This is the most difficult Amateur challenge in the game. To score with a goalkeeper, you must run up the pitch. However, this also leaves you vulnerable if you lose the ball. It is suggested that you avoid this challenge, as there are easier points available elsewhere.
Point Reward: 250.
Level 4.
Premium Passer: Chelsea v Fulham. Difficulty: Amateur.
- Maintain a passing percentage of 90% or higher.
- Score a hat trick with a defender.
Suggestion: This is another very tough challenge, which is best avoided. You may wish to edit the squads of your opponents beforehand. Scoring three with a defender is tough, but is possible. Maintaining 90% passing is easier in defence.
Point Reward: 250.
To Have and Hold: Newcastle Utd v Middlesborough. Difficulty: Amateur
- Maintain a possession percentage of 75% or higher.
- Score with a late substitute (65 minutes or later).
Suggestion: Begin the match with your three best strikers on the substitutes bench. Aim for a comfortable lead and maintain possession in defence. After 65 minutes, edit your formation to 3-4-3 or 4-3-3, bringing each of your strikers on to the pitch.
Point Reward: 250.
After you have completed at least 8 of the above 12 amateur challenges, you will have earned a minimum of 2000 points. Return to the main menu and select My FIFA 07, EA Sports Extras, Fan Shop, Extras. Now purchase World XI.
You should now play and win 20 matches with the World XI team on Professional difficulty. The worst team in the game based on team ratings is Queretaro at just 2 stars, so you should choose them as your opponents. The 20 wins do not have to be consecutive, so do not worry if you do not win every game. The World XI team is full of superstars, so winning against Queretaro should be relatively easy, even on Professional difficulty, so try to play with 4 minute halves to reduce the time spent. If you feel you need to, try increasing the half length.

This achievement is simple enough but can take a while. To unlock the World XI Team, you must earn 2000 points in Challenge Mode. Once you have done this, go to the Fan Shop and buy the World XI. Then simply win 20 games on Professional with the World XI for the achievement.
