How to unlock the Extra Effort achievement in FIFA 15 - Definitive Guide
*Please be aware this achievement requires a fair bit of luck, patience and persistance.
**Updated 22 April 2015: Added keung360's note to solution for those struggling with the steps outlined. For those down voting please explain why you down voted so we can help you. Thanks for your understanding.
*Update: Fool proof tip - in case it wasn't clear, this exact same method can be boosted online with a friend if that wasn't already obvious if you don't have a second controller or finding it difficult to use 2 pads... have your friend or boosting partner play as the keeper and then switch*
It doesn't matter too much on who you are but after watching a video by Forza Grifo I decided to follow suit and to be honest I felt comfortable with using Agüero against Newport County's keeper "Day".
Expanding on what kinoo1 did, we used 2 controllers for this and began to try it out; it eventually clicked that "SLIDERS" (various player & cpu settings that can be tweaked to suit your style and effect gameplay, go to settings > game settings, then press LT or RT to get to the - USER GAMEPLAY CUSTOMISATION.
I don't think the CPU GAMEPLAY CUSTOMISATION settings matter too much as you're playing against your 2nd controller.
It will also help to set player switching under the "gameplay assistance settings" to "manual" as to better help select who you want.
***Now a key aspect to better your chances is something that Forza Grifo mentioned; what you want to focus on is to gently press the tackle as to not launch the ball too far away which is problematic across all methods so far.
It clicked that there is a slider to control your power bar!
Turn this down and combined with the gentle tap of the tackle button followed by tapping shoot should pull off the desired animation that we're all looking for. I have personally hammered the shoot button before but it didn't work for various reasons but can still probably work too.
It almost felt like routine because after the tip about pressing tackle gently I was able to pull off the move with the follow up kick, unfortunately the keeper had begun to pick it up so the shot missed. This is when I changed the slider and to great effect (you can see the fail in the video).
***The sliders I used under User Gameplay Customisation that will make a difference:
- Shot error: 0
- Shot speed: 100 (but shouldn't matter too much)
- Goalkeeper Ability: 0 (as this counts towards the 2nd player, but not much of a noticeable difference if I'm honest but if it does help you, then that's what I used)
- *Power Bar: 0-10 (I had it at 10 but something low should suffice as this controls the gentleness of the tackle I believe)
- First Touch Control error: 0 (as a precaution)
With those settings you will want to:
- Position your player in line with the penalty spot.
- Position the goal keeper around the corner of the 6 yard box and aim to run towards the penalty spot; if the keeper has the ball in his hands, press Y to drop it. *Also please note that if you use RT to sprint with the keeper he may make a b-line to take it out for some reason unless that's my controller, just be careful as that doesn't help with the stress levels.
- Make sure the keeper is on the same side as your player.
- Drop the 2nd pad when you've started to make the run and switch to your main controller to run up and perform a tackle as the keeper starts to end his run and come to a stop (please take note and watch the video).
- As soon as the tackle animation is on the ground and contact with the ball start your shot. If it doesn't pull off, start again.
*I used 4-5-1 for Man City with Aguero up front. For Newport County I used a 3-4-3 position with Day as their keeper.
Edited notes:
*A key part of this is to try for a "hook slide tackle" as seen in the video, do not press RT as using sprint (RT) has a more aggressive tackle which will leave you sliding rather than a short hook tackle, also note that you should tackle late.
***Also I should have noted but I sat on the floor for this!
"I believe it's easier to control the Keeper by dropping the ball with Y and nudging the left stick forward and then quickly swap to your main controller to attempt the slide & shot." - n4k3dLEE
As Lee has kindly added, it's ideal that the keeper has picked the ball up'; run into position then as you move out towards the penalty spot (don't sprint), drop the ball with "Y" and you should be fine to then drop the controller and quickly pick up your first controller to move your player up to tackle. /edit
I hope that helps and I've included the slow down replays in the video so you can play/pause as you wish and analysise it all.
Honestly I wish you all the best of luck and it proves helpful to those of you who like me have been struggling to attain this achievement, pulling your hair out and generally wasting countless hours on it.

keung360: Tried for a few hours following what solution as described, but I couldn't even get the shot animation once. Then I tried something slightly different. I created a 99 rating striker with max height and put him on one team, then I created a 1 rating Goalkeeper with lowest height and put him on another. Then I started a match up with these two players in their respective line-ups, and I set my main controller to have the 2-button settings. Took me 5 minutes to get the achievement doing everything else as described. It felt easier as opposed to just having to worry about mashing B as it does both actions - tackle, then shoot *video of keung360 playing FIFA 15 applying above & solution detailed - click spoiler below*
It is achievable and whilst there isn't really an "Achievement Guide" or step by step as such, we can only offer you tips & help and show you how we did it. I appreciate it is very difficult and frustrating, so I do advise regular breaks. If you get it accidentally or want to get it by playing then awesome for you but for those that want to give it a go here's some tips:It doesn't matter too much on who you are but after watching a video by Forza Grifo I decided to follow suit and to be honest I felt comfortable with using Agüero against Newport County's keeper "Day".

@Benassi - make sure it's similar to the ground shot in the video, a "sliding shot" like in FIFA 14 for the same achievement unfortunately doesn't work. If it was the right shot then check the list, does it say "done - unlocking"? Might be a delay with the servers.
@vG Madness - sorry to hear your difficulties, keep at it & good luck, timing is essential and it's a pain in the ass trying to get the specific timing. Honestly a horrible achievement, remember the sliders. The keeper is a douche.
@ Alcoholic Socks - like wise with the situation sorry to hear. Patience is key and the majority put a lot of time & effort in. Persist and hopefully you'll be rewarded. Keep calm though, I once smashed to pieces the FIFA RtFWC, that one with the 500gs for completing the challenges. That really tested me and out of a silent anger I threw the case with disc inside in a "fk it" moment. The piss take was the disc was fine but the entire case smashed. Kind of made me realize to persist. Eventually went back to the game & finished it off with relative ease, took time though. Breathe, relax, it'll come.

Glad it's started to help some of you out! Great news =D
Very sorry to hear that UnchargedTerror, it is definitely a teeth grinding achievement, with a massive headache, vain down the side of my head and repeatidly visiting the kettle & PC to just chill for 5mins myself.
But for the rest of you having trouble; Lee brought up a good point, when going up for the tackle I believe I then changed the direction of the left stick once the tackle "was in" to aim towards the goal for the shot.
I cannot stress enough that it really does depend on luck with how the ball rolls, keeper pouncing and whether the player stands up before shooting.
*A key part of this is to try for a "hook slide tackle" as seen in the video, do not press RT as using sprint (RT) has a more aggressive tackle which will leave you sliding rather than a short hook tackle, also note that you should tackle late.
What I did when going for this was combine kinoo1's solution, plus Forza Grifo's and my own thoughts and strategies of going for this. Took it all in and went for it in game.
***Also I should have noted but I sat on the floor for this!
"Do you have to move the keeper at the same time? I don't think I can move two controllers at once?" - xSinisterStrike

The key is the keeper coming to a slow down, decelerating which should be normal by the time your player reaches the ball.
Hope that helps and thanks everyone for the positive feedback & comments. Sorry to the individual who has left a negative so far.

Use 2 controllers, have the keeper hold the ball, do a sliding tackle across the goal line (not towards the goal; goals scored from the tackle itself don't work) and immediately mash the Shot button. With luck you should get it.
See the clip below.

25 hours in. I saw the motion once and he didn't even score it. I hate these luck based achievements.

^ I was thinking the same thing. The guy is putting a vid up to try & help people.
Oh & I just played a game with 20 minute halves. I won 29-0 and got 2 red cards. No achievement so it didn't work for me but that's not to say it won't in the future.
The ball either went out of play for a goal kick or I scored. It never once went back to the keeper so it's very random and extremely luck based.
I'll give you a positive vote for the effort and upload although I do think you got lucky especially since it was your first goal of the game.
As annoying as this achievement is, I suggest the negative voter aims his frustrations at EA for putting us all through this!

Firstly, this achievement is frustrating and luck plays a huge part.
I've checked plenty of videos (Playstation and Xbox), read tips/hints and the other solutions here but I've come to a slightly different conclusion.
The key to this achievement is having the striker slide before the keeper approaches, the keeper MUST be the one to run into the slide tackle and not vice versa.
Watch both videos (in the same clip) very carefully. The keeper starts with the ball in the 6 yard box and aims a run towards the penalty spot. The striker starts his run at a 90 degree from the by-line of the 6 yard box and runs in a straight line towards the penalty spot. The striker slides before the keeper gets there, keeper stumbles into the player. As soon as you slide keep pressing shoot.
You're basically cutting out the ball, not tackling.
Hints:
- Choose Real Madrid and control Ronaldo.
- Always run in a straight line with the keeper, with the Striker sliding at 90 degrees of the keeper. Try and avoid the keeper going at an angle, it's easy for the striker to do an angle (if required)
- Use the penalty spot as point of reference
- Don't use the sprint (RT) with the keeper as he will scoop the ball over the striker
- Always slide at the 90 degree angle and avoid sliding towards the ball or away from the ball
I boosted this with somebody and recorded both goals below. It's a bit of a mash up but you get the jist.

Thanks man!!! Your solution is THE WAY TO GO!!! Sooooo much better than the other solutions... Spent about 10 hours trying the other methods... Doing your way, i got that in my VERY FIRST TRY!!! Once again, thanks a LOT!! Ps.: You might add a tip to edit CR7 and make him a 99 player in all of his skills...

Here's how I got the achievement, as you can see from the video I've uploaded you CANNOT get this achievement from a slide tackle, you must be on the ground and then score while you're on the ground. It's gonna require a bit of luck but I hope my video helps to show how it's done.
Edit: I did this in a FUT tournament against a team on amateur, it would be advisable to play against a low level team and turn down CPU attributes to increase your luck.

I was lucky to unlock this achievement a few minutes ago. I have played 2-3 matches on Amateur Ultimate Team Tournament and I was trying to pass the goalkeeper by dribble moves. In most cases it ended with a penalty and red card for the goalkeeper.
Then I tried to start my run from the wing and It was a great idea. My striker was fouled by a goalkeeper but the referee didn't blow the whistle. When my player was on the ground, I pressed B-button to score a goal.
This achievement requires a lot of patience but I can promise that It's possible to unlock it.

(15G) Extra Effort - Score from the ground
This achievement has got to be one of the most stressful I have done!
I tried so many different ways and followed so many different solutions and finally got it
So I thought I would throw this into the mix to see if it helps make things easier for everyone who doesn't have the achievement.
First off I followed the guide from ''Hurricane Matt'' in regards to creating a striker and goalkeeper and changing all the settings... Then started a match and tried attempt 1 million
I was still getting unlucky with the sliding and staying on the floor part
So I had an idea...
Instead of sliding with the player I made the goalkeeper drop the ball and with the striker moved in behind the keeper to try and intercept the ball whilst the keeper shields it...
Because the striker is so tall compared to the keeper he kept on falling over him causing the striker to fall over the keeper in front of the ball.
This video shows exactly how I did it
This may have been pot luck for me but it may just be the answer everyone was looking for!!
Good luck and I hope this helps

Online Friendlies Guide:
Team shooting: Sweden or PSG
Team defending: Turkey
Half Length: 20 minutes
Put Ibrahimovic at striker
Have the keeper run out with the ball
Perform a late slide tackle in front of the keeper
Mash the B button
Repeat until you rage quit or get the achievement
This took me about a half an hour to unlock after spending hours trying to do it with 2 controllers. Best of luck to all of you. Shout out to IgnorantBus265 for playing the keeper!

You want to make a session or get a friend to play the keeper and position the keeper outside the box facing your football player and let the goalkeeper run towards the penalty spot diagonally and the player going for the achievement run towards the penalty spot normal, sprint using rt but let go as you go for the slide, this should be a diagonal slide towards the net and with luck you will get the animation and achievement to unlock, please check this link on youtube.
Goodluck guys

Goodluck guys
This achievement is the worst achievement of all the FIFA because in a real match, score from the ground doesn't happen, or at least we never find ourself in the position to be able to do it, and even if it can happen, the probability for this happens is very low. And further it's not easy to boost with a friend when we haven't the right trick !
I tried many tricks, alone or with a friend, for hours and hours... and hours, without success. And I finally found the trick really effective because after several minutes of tries, I finally succeeded.
We have to play against a friend. We move the striker and our friend the goalkeeper.
The striker must stand at a few meters in front of the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper must move at an average speed diagonally whereas the striker must move almost straight to go to cross the trajectory of the goalkeeper by sprinting with . The goalkeeper starts the first and just after the striker sprint. We mustn't tackle the goalkeeper (otherwise the striker will push the ball) but we must tackle before with so that the striker finds himself with the ball in the feet when the goalkeeper comes on him. Just after to have tackled, we have to "hammering" the shot button and if the striker get the ball well in the feet, it will score by remaining on the ground.

I can never get him to stay on the ground for the kick
By iAmFabled on 11 Jan 2015 10:54
This trophy is for scoring while lying down on the ground. You will NOT get it using any of the sliding shots. It is based on a particular new animation which is a second movement on the ground after you have already been brought down. From a lying position, you swivel around and kick the ball towards goal.
This is probably the single most frustrating trophy in the game. Highly luck dependant, you may get this one done in an hour, or in twenty. Hopefully the methods below will help you stay closer to the former than the latter. There are two different ways to go about this trophy. I recommend that you mix and match, trying both on and off until you get it. But first, you need to set up things to give you the best chance.
Pick a team with a tall, strong and mobile striker. Ibrahimovic (PSG) or Ronaldo (Real) are ideal. Now go and adjust his stats, maxing everything out to 99. (You can skip goalkeeper stats).
Main Menu > Customise > Edit Player > Find the player > Third Tab = Attributes.
Next pick a crap team with two stars or so. Find their starting goalkeeper, and edit his stats as well. Slam everything down to the minimum of 1, except for his Aggression in the Mentality section. Max this out to 99. Make sure you save after editing each of the players. Then head into a Kick Off match using both teams.
Important: Make sure to turn off Match Day squads when picking the teams (triangle). If you don’t, you won’t get the benefit of your changed player stats.
Before starting the game, go into the Game Settings menu. Set the difficulty to Amateur and halves to 20 minutes to maximise your game time. Next edit the User and CPU settings sliders to match the following:
USER Gameplay Settings:
Sprint Speed: 25
Acceleration: 100
Shot Speed: 100
CPU Gameplay Settings:
Sprint Speed: 0
Acceleration: 0
Goalkeeper Ability: 0
First Touch Control Error: 0
Lastly, before starting the match set your team formation to 4-5-1 in Team Management. Stick your super-striker up front on his own. Now on to the actual methods:
Method 01: Run at the Keeper.
As the game starts, set the strikers team to ‘Park the Bus’ (left on the D-pad). This will give you more room up front. Use your speed advantage to get through the defence and run directly towards the goalie. As you get into the box, DO NOT SPRINT. Either manually slow down, or use to temper your speed. Just before reaching the goalie, turn sharply to one side. You are trying to bait him into tripping you. Remember you have to be lying on the ground before you will get the opportunity to shoot as needed for this trophy. If you are brought down and get the opportunity to shoot, hold the flair button while shooting. This seems to increase the likelihood of this doing the proper shot, and at the very least will prevent you punting it over the crossbar. (Flair shots tend to be lower). To get this to work, you need ALL the below to go right:
- The goalie has to bring you down without fouling you for a penalty. (More often than not, he’ll either foul you or miss completely).
- Once brought down, the ball has to be nearby. (More likely it’ll be too far away, the wrong side of you or behind the goalie).
- If it happens to be close enough, you have to get the right shot animation. (You’re player will tend to stand up first, not what you want).
- Lastly, if you get the shot away, it has to go in. ( will help keep it down, direction can be an issue).
It seems to be better to not try to direct the shot itself. As you will already have the goalie beaten, a simple press of and shoot should default to the centre of the goal. Power should not be a problem, as you have already maxed it out in the User Gamplay settings. Don’t overpower the shot, a quick press is plenty.
Method 02: Tackle the Goalie
Two Controllers or Online Partner Needed.
For this method, you need control over both teams, either with another controller or with an online friends help. As the game starts, set the strikers team to ‘Park the Bus’ (left on the D-pad). This will give you more room up front. Set the Goalie’s team to ‘All Out Attack’ (right on the D-pad). This will bump the defence up slightly. With the striker, get possession and head to the box. Pass the ball to the goalie to make him pick it up. If using two controllers, you will need to juggle a bit next.
Quickly position the goalie holding the ball to the side of the goal in the corner of the six-yard-box. (Whichever side is nearest). At the same time, position the striker ahead of him out in the penalty area. The best position is about level with the penalty spot, in line with the goalie.
With the goalie, move diagonally towards the penalty spot, and as you move, press triangle to drop the ball. With the striker, move towards the penalty spot area as well. You should approach the goalie from behind and from the side. This is the ideal position to perform a hooked sliding tackle. A straight sliding tackle is not what you want as it knocks the ball away. The hooked tackle traps the ball more, increasing the chance to keep it near enough.
Use to slow your slide and help prevent the ball shooting away. Also, with a bit of practice, you should be able to kick the ball off the goalies legs in the tackle, again increasing the likelihood it will stay near enough. Still holding , you will hopefully get the opportunity to shoot.
As with Method 01, you need a lot to go right here for this to come off:
- You have to get the ball without fouling the goalie. (Slide tackles from behind require finesse).
- Once tackled, the ball has to be nearby. (A lot of the time, your tackle will punt it away).
- If it happens to be close enough, you have to get the right shot animation. (Again you’re player will tend to want to stand up first).
- Lastly, if you get the shot away, it has to go in. ( will help keep it down).
I found the best method overall was to alternate between the two. If I was out the field, I would run at the goalie and try Method 01. If it got a bit crowded in the box, I would switch to Method 02. It’s really about maximising your chances in a session, and making the best of your time.
Hopefully these tips will help. Good Luck.

Here’s a quick video of me getting it eventually using Method 02:
For everyone that doesn't have this trophy yet i'll put on my solution. I managed to do this three times in only two games, but only the third time counted
First of all i strongly recommend to do this with two players. I tried this alone and i didn't even get close in a few hours.
Three times
With two players playing we both got the trophy within five games of 6minutes each half. We took turns for who could get the trophy. I started and didn't get it in the first game then he tried it the next game and didn't get it either. So i started my second try and i got the animation deep in the 90th minute, but when the animation was going the referee ended the game (not kidding). Really frustrated my friend got his second try and when it was the 90th minute i told him to hurry and he actually got it in time. Now i went up for my third game and i got the animation again after 20min in game, but now i fault the goalie. But within 10min i got the animation again and this time it counted!
How i did it:
I was waiting in the corner of the six-yard box and the other player walked in front of the goal (in the middle). He walked to the goal line then turned around and walked straight, then i would sprint and try to slide the ball a little bit from behind. You have to time your slide that you get in front of the goalie, so let the goalie walk in to your sliding. When you get the hang of it you can do this multiple times.
We both used Ronaldo for this trophy and the opponent chose a bad team and put a player on the goal to prevent the goalie from interfering with the animation. We also used L2 while shooting and smashing the shooting button after we did the slide tackel.

this trophy is really luck based but i give you guys the best method that is out there me myself get this trophy using this method and a second controller in 5 minutes, this is how it works:go to create a player and build a striker with maximum height(it's 7'1 i think) and save him then creat another player but this time a goal keeper with the min height and save him too,go to kick off and make sure to turn off the match of the day.substitue the two players you made and start the game.pass the ball to the team that has the goalkeeper and walk him straight towards the box meanwhile use your created striker to tackle him with L2+O and make sure that the striker moves one second earlier than the keeper.this should probably work if you guys have questions just ask me on my psn account.good luck :)

A difficult trophy. To receive it, you need to be knocked down near the goal by a goalkeeper or defender, and already lying on the ground, your player must reach the ball and send it into the goal.
Goals in a tackle are not counted.

It's easier to get for two while reducing the acceleration speed to 30. This will make it easier to make a tackle and the player will get up a little longer, which will allow him to double down

Like RioMFS, I also knocked out a trophy in 15-20 minutes using this method! It is definitely MUCH simpler than all the others!

I hasten to dispel the myth that this trophy is won exclusively by five-star players. The trophy was won by me personally, Ramos. After unsuccessful attempts by Ronik and Aguerchik, the idea came to try with a defender who has good tackles. The trophy was knocked out in 3 minutes the second time. For information, Ramos has three stars for his weak leg and three for special moves... The settings haven’t changed... Something like this...
