Depends on the controls you use. A driven throw is RB+A for me. Might confuse some people who use different controls. RB+B is a driven kick for me.

When the game starts kick the ball out for a corner and let the keeper catch the ball, if he doesn't catch it then let them have another corner. Adjust the sliders in a kick off game so you can run and score easily. Then give the opponents a corner and hold Y to attempt the keeper to catch the ball. If so, hold RB + A and pass to a teammate.
