How to unlock the Deadlock's nightmare achievement in Fighters Uncaged - Definitive Guide
Deadlock is tricky in a way that he isn't very difficult to beat but he can be hard to score on. (The guide below will help with defeating him and for those still in the earlier leagues looking to score points).
Deadlock is a dodge happy character. Individual strikes of his aren't too bad but once he starts to chain moves together, it becomes very difficult to keep him off you.
What I found most effective is to cause him Leg Pain. To do that, dodge his attack and low round kick him. Depending on how dodge happy he is, it'll take 1-4 hits that land, or more/less depending on how many of them he dodges. It accomplishes a few things.
1) Less attacks from him
2) Less dodging from him
3) You can push him to long range
His long range kicks are fairly slow and predictable, giving you a chance to capitalize on those counters as well. He does sweep when he is not in Leg Pain but he crouches for decades and doesnt always do so either. Hes more likely to sweep only if you wiff a high round kick.
Leg Pain on Deadlock is very short however. To get the most out of this, if you have the meter ready, use a right hook (which is very quick and leaves you close to him) superstrike directly after causing Leg Pain followed by diversifying your kicking strikes to do more Diversity Bonus damage.(10,40,70) Use a combination of Low Round Kick, High Round Kick and Straight Kick with left and right kick for best effect.
You can continue to assault him for a few seconds after Leg Pain dissappears with diversifying kicks. Be wary not to do a High Round kick while he is crouching or he'll more than likely sweep you. While not particularly damaging, you lose health and time which negatively impacts your score and having to do the dodging stage on his terms. Another negative to being swept is that you often stand up into his strikes and are forced to take the hit.
With a bit of luck, you can diversify kick him to victory within one Leg Pain. If not, when he is out of Focus, he is more likely to chain strikes together but its not too tough to cause another Leg Pain status and finish him off then.
With Superstrikes, use it as the first move after Leg Pain. If not, use it whenever, particularly as a breather if caught in a fast string of attacks. Superstrike isnt very important against Deadlock but it doesnt hurt unless you knock him out of range in Leg Pain with Superstrike depending on what you use
My score against Deadlock in Open League was 15,202.
