How to unlock the Auctioneer achievement in FINAL FANTASY IX - Definitive Guide

In Treno's auction house bid to win 10 items, best to wait until he says "Any more?" then place a bid (stand in front of him) and you should win.

Note that four items are for another achievement (Sword of kings) which you need to win and sell on:

Une’s Mirror - Sell this item to the Nobleman at Cafe Carta.
Griffin’s Heart - Sell this item to an Adventurer at Cafe Carta.
Rat Tail - Sell this item to an Adventurer at Cafe Carta.
Doga’s Artifact - Sell this item to the Scholar that resides at the Synthesis Shop.

If he says they are going to take a short break, just go out and come back into the auction house. Oh and have ALOT of gil first, I'll have to come back later on.

In my case, it seems that the Rat Tail will not be auctioned, guess that sucks.
Anyway, great solution.
Edit: just discovered it will be auctioned later on in the game, not with the first visit

In the Auction House in Treno you can bid on and win rare items and accessories.
You first arrive in Treno with Dagger, Steiner and Marcus. Walk to the front of the stage and a ? will appear when items are up for bid. Press X to place a bid. You can win this trophy after winning ten auctions (there will be four each time you enter the auction house). You can do this the first time you are in Treno if you have sufficient gil.

Note that early bidding tends to increase the final price. It is best to wait until the auctioneer says "Do I hear anymore?" before bidding as this lowers the chance of someone placing another bid, thus raising the price.

In the Treno Auction House, you can bid on and win valuable items e.g. accessories but sometimes valuable key items as well. Located in Treno, it can first be visited when you visit Treno with Dagger, Steiner and Marcus. You can obtain this trophy on your first visit during Disc 2 but you may not have enough Gil for it and regardless, you will need to win five different key items at a later time to obtain Excalibur (see Sword of Kings for more information) so it might be a good idea to wait until a later time.

You can win any 10 items from the Treno auctions starting in Disc 2 to unlock this achievement. Be aware that you need to win five specific items for "Sword of Kings" so I'd suggest waiting to get those first, then winning five other random cheap things after that to get the achievement.

Once in the night city of Treno, you can take part in the auction. And even win rare items there. You need to buy 10.

If you don’t have enough money, you can save nearby, sell all your things (next to the door to the store) and go win lots and load after receiving the trophy.

The trophy can be obtained upon your first visit to Treno. You need to craft the Yellow Scarf item in Lindblum's business district, then include Quina in the party. From the yellow scarf she learns the Millionaire skill, with its help you get more gils after the battle. Then go further to the Chocobo Forest and the southern gate. there is a forest in the shape of a crescent, there are mandrakes. Quina should grab one of these and learn the Limit glove skill. This skill demolishes 9999 if Quina has 1hp. Next, go to the grotto, find two moogles, and save. You enter the battle and kill Quina. are saved. Now crack it with 1hp. If it doesn’t work, then reboot. As it turns out, save and go up the vine. Run into dragons in open areas. Quina only needs to make two successful attacks and the dragon is ready. They give a lot of money. Raise the party level to about 35 and then into burmecia. If you visit the Kuan's home at the beginning of the second disc and pick up a scorpion coin, you will take 5 coins to Stella. Receive a reward for the auction. You will have approximately one hundred and forty thousand. you will be able to buy three auctions.
