How to unlock the Loose Cannon achievement in FINAL FANTASY VII - Definitive Guide

While you are push the story forward you have to stop a train in the Huge Materia side quest "on disc 2".

If you save or save not Old Corel a lady in a hut at the top of the town will give you the Catastrophe item.

Like all other characters finish all other Limits and use the item. Achievement done.

I should add aswell you must be in control of Cloud, I just tried it with both Tifa and Cid before the "train" sequence with no luck so I assume the absolute earliest it can be obtained is once Cloud returns as the leader.

Edit: Or maybe directly after the train crashes or is stopped while still in control of Cid but I haven't tested that personally.

Also fantastic job writing up nearly all the guides for every achievement aswell, good job mate.

I learned Catastrophe and the achievement didn't pop for me. Seems to be bugged. Make sure you save before learning it. Luckily I have a save just before the Train mission in Corel so I'm going to try for it again. I've rebooted my console and everything and it still hasn't popped.

this happened to the game earlier looks like a typical xbox one achievement service bug not an ingame bug.

Achievement didn't pop, so I completely quit the game and re-launched w/o quick resume, re-did the train sequence, then it popped.

Catastrophe was never missable in any version of FF7 , the only thing that changes is if the train crashes you miss out on the green huge materia and you must pay for the Ultima materia, catastrophe can be obtained anytime after meteor has been summoned and isn't directly linked to the huge materia events.

Barret's limits are as follows:

Lv. 1 Limits
Big Shot (default)
Mindblow (use Big Shot 9 times)

Lv. 2 Limits
Grenade Bomb (kill 80 enemies while on Lv. 1 Limit)
Hammer Blow (use Grenade Bomb 8 times)

Lv. 3 Limits
Satellite Beam (kill 80 enemies while on Lv. 2 Limit)
Angermax (use Satellite Beam 6 times)

After that you can learn his Level 4 limit, Catastrophe, once you find it.
It can be found in Corel in the other house other than the Inn. Do note that you can only obtain it after successfully stopping the train during the Huge Materia quest.

Barret's Level 4 Limit Break Catastrophe is received from an old lady in North Corel after the events of Rocket Town (Page 36 of the Jegged walkthrough). You simply need to speak with her in her home, and can get it whether you save the town or not (though be sure to save it for the Huge materia as mentioned in the Road Map).

Note: You must learn all of Barret's Level 1-3 Limit Breaks before you can use the item that teaches his Level 4 skill. See here for how to unlock Barret's Limit Breaks.

Barret's Level 4 Limit Break Catastrophe is received from an old lady in North Corel after the events of Rocket Town (Page 36 of the Jegged walkthrough). You can obtain the Catastrophe Limit Break after the Huge Materia events for the town of North Corel. You do not need necessarily need to successfully save the town. Refer to Bahamutype-0 for information. Afterwards, speak to the lady in a hut in the northern part of town to obtain this Limit Break. Teach it to Barret and you will obtain this trophy.

 


The lady in North Corel gives the Catastrophe Limit Break after saving the town.

To get the limit, talk to the woman at North Corel in one of the houses located at the top of the location.

The limit is taken after stopping the train with Hugo matter, at the end of the 2nd disc.
