How to unlock the Omega Destroyed achievement in FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered - Definitive Guide

Once you have defeated all of the preamble bosses to Ultimecia and regained your abilities, you need to return to the Gallery and ring the bell at the bottom of the staircase. You will then have 1 minute to get to the Chapel where Omega will be waiting - you’ll previously have seen a portal in the room when passing it earlier. Simply run into him to engage in the fight.

There are hundreds of guides that will provide strategies for owning him legitimately, but if you purely want the achievement and not the glory, you need to do just a few things:

Firstly, you need a party of three with 9,999hp (you can technically do without, but it’s easier/safer to have them). Ideally, if you want to go on brainless mode, they will also have high strength stats.

Secondly, you need to have no elemental junctions to their attacks due to Omega’s resistance.

Finally, put the game on Triple Speed and Easy Fight Mode and spam the thing with physical attacks until it is dead. In the fight mode you will always be healed after getting hit, so don’t need to worry about anything. It is possible he can still wipe your entire party with an insta-kill attack, so having set up for the Phoenix GF may be helpful too.

In response to the above comment, the reason you want 9,999 HP is to survive Megido Flame, it deals 9,998 damage to the party. It is one less insta-kill off the menu. If your party members have a level divisible by 5, junction 100 Death on ST-Def-J and that's another insta-kill off the menu, leaving just Shining Flare or whatever that will kill you no matter what. Great advice on the Phoenix Pinion; it saved my life. Another good piece of advice is to throw a Hero item on one of your party members in anticipation of Shining Flare, I believe it is the only thing in the game that can save you from it (correct me if wrong). Shining Flare always comes after Ultima. This Omega Weapon did not disappoint, really gave me a run for my money at level 79-87. Only other advice I can give is turning your cards into useful stuff, one of them gave 100 megalixers and you best believe I used a large portion of them haha.

So using the Easy Fight mode doesn’t disable achievements?

@Hobotheclown92 you click in one or both of the thumb sticks. I’ve honestly already forgotten which of the three it is... but one activated triple speed, one activated no encounters and one activated battle assist.

If you want to be on the safe side, you can have at least one of your characters use Defend every turn, whilst Squall Renzokukens his way through Omega. It's what I did, took me two tries, but I wanted to be safer about it. Still, with the 3x booster on it took maybe twenty minutes?

Definitely don’t need 9999 hp. If he’s gonna kill you there’s really nothing you can do lol especially if you’re 100. I recommend using the Phoenix Pinion for this fight, since it’s one time use. Even though it heals him (since it’s magic), it brings your entire party back and then has a chance to bring you back again after that. It popped up for me twice which really saves you, since even with spamming Limit Breaks he’ll still get about 3 attacks off throughout the fight.

Bit late to the party but I just found that limit breaks stop all timers completely so if you use rinoa squall and quistis ideally, you can just use holy war (just to be safe) click it into easy mode and just spam limits quickly and not only will holy war never end. Omega won't be able to attack.

I tried killing Omega Weapon a few different ways but nothing was really working for me until I found out about the item Holy Wars. Holy Wars makes your entire team invincible - I don't know if there is a time limit to its effect however it provided enough time to use battle boosters to deal with this enemy. You can refine Holy Wars from the Gilgamesh card. I also junctioned Death to status effect magic because sometime this enemy gets off the Lvl 5 attack pretty quickly.

Dude, this makes it so easy. The other solution doesn't help at all.

This is a very tough boss. The Holy War is pretty much the best way to do this, but you still need to be tough to kill it within a Holy War or 2.

This is not as hard as some people might tell you, you just need to learn Omega's attack pattern and know what to do to deal with it. I'll explain the attack pattern below. Keep in mind that Omega can also use a regular physical attack between these attacks at any point.

1) Omega always starts the battle with Level 5 death. Make sure you have 100 Death junctioned to ST-Def-J to every character to avoid instant failure.

2) Next is meteor, use a megalixir to get back to 9999HP as soon as meteor is used (You can get 100 megalixirs by card modding Bahamut)

3) Megiddo Flame, the reason you need to heal back to 9999, this attack will hit everyone in your party for 9998 damage, leaving you with 1 hp. No need to panic though. For now keep hitting him with all you've got

4) Gravija - if you'd prefer you can heal after megiddo flame to stop the chance of him killing any of your party with a physical attack between that and gravija. Even if you're on 1 hp though you can't be killed by Gravija. Keep attacking him until he actually uses Gravija, then you want to use a megalixir and prepare for the next attack

5) Terra Break - This is one to watch out for. You need to have the defend ability, (Learned from Brothers & Cactuar) any character using defend will take 0 damage from the hits. It's a good idea to have revive on one of the characters with defend too, just in case you get the timing wrong and one of your characters stops defending before he uses the move. The third character without defend can summon a gf to take the hit for them although if unlucky they might still die.

6) Ultima - Not really a problem, just make sure your HP is high and keep pummeling him with renzokuken/ammo

7) Light Pillar - This will kill one of your characters, revive them asap and keep hitting omega.

After Light Pillar he rotates back to meteor and repeats the same pattern. Just make sure you get Vit-0 on him with meltdown and keep hitting him with Squall and Irvine's limit breaks. Auto Haste can be a big help in getting more attacks in between omega's attacks. Your third character ( I used Quistis for mighty guard although it wasn't really necesarry) should be supporting with Aura and phoenix downs when needed.

There's a glitch where using a potion on Omega Weapon stops it attacking.

My setup was:

Zell - Item and Initiative ability

Rinoa - gave away all magic except Meteor, which was junctioned to Mag, GFs for magic

Squall - GFs for attack, no elemental damage

In preparation, I moved potions to be first place in the battle list, and put the battle speed down as low as possible, easy mode on.

When the fight starts, Zell used a potion on OW, Squall cast Meltdown on OW, and Rinoa used Angel Wings. After that, I turned on 3x speed, Zell used a potion every turn and Squall used his limit break.

I used 12 potions during the fight on a level 69 OW, but get more to be safe.

Omega Weapon is an optional superboss that you can fight inside Ultimecia's Castle after you have defeated all the other bosses, but before facing the final boss of the game. There are a slew of methods to defeating this boss, which is typically extremely difficult under normal circumstances. The most popular consist of using Holy War Items to become invincible, trying to proc Selphie's The End spell in her Slot skill, etc. You can read up on all the strategies HERE. I'll include a video below of two cheese methods, the first of which also includes how to summon Omega Weapon, and a third video with a legit win. Good luck!
