This is first available during the first full boss battle
During the battle the game will tell you to change Dressphere by activating the Garment Grid with
. This will bring up a triangular grid on the left hand side of the screen with four coloured symbols on it. Pick one of the symbols my moving across to it and pressing 
and Yuna will change appearance and abilities. Do these with the other two characters (Rikku and Paine) and the achievement will pop in battle.
