Surprised this isn't posted yet... I'm posting half off memory, so forgive me if I'm a bit dry.
In the run, there is a place to the left of the last waterfall (right about the middle of the curve on the map) that the enemies run right by you without attacking. This is very near the end of that stretch before meeting the "final boss" that takes 17 shots to kill.
The goal of most runs is to get there and just collect ammo and run out once there's about 30 seconds or so left, leaving a death ammo for the end guy.
There are little blue-shelled enemies that drop "Volley" ammo after dying, which deathshots all enemies on screen. These guys start showing up around level 6 or so. This is where the duck & cover method next to the waterfall works best. Volley the board when a blue shell runs by, pick up his ammo to replenish, wait & do it again.
2800 is the score you need to beat to hit max level. You get some adamantite among other rewards.

The high score levels are:
LVL 1- 500
LVL 2- 750
LVL 3- 900
LVL 4- 1000
LVL 5- 1150
LVL 6- 1300
LVL 7- 1400
LVL 8- 2000
LVL 9- 2800
Ya have to reach LVL 6 for those blue shell guys to start appearing.

Just to add onto Gemgemchan, once you reach level 7 you get quick shot plus the Gug looking fiends come out as well as more enemies.
So get 1400 pts finish the run, come back and then get 2800 pts.
