How to unlock the FFX: Learning! achievement in FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster - Definitive Guide

Warning: Some people are having issues with this unlocking. It may not work if you learn the skills from Kinarhi’s rivals.

This achievement is awarded for unlocking all the Overdrive Techniques for Kimari.

He starts with Jump and you must learn the following 11 from certain enemies.

Technique - Enemy
Seed Cannon - Ragora (A tutorial guides you for this)
Thrust Kick - YKT-63, YKT-11
Aqua Breath - Chimera, Chimera Brain
White Wind - Dark Flan
Mighty Guard - Behemoth, Behemoth King
Fire Breath - Dual Horn, Valaha, Grendel
Self-Destruct - Bomb, Grenade
Stone Breath - Basilisk, Anacondaur
Doom - Ghost, Wraith
Bad Breath - Malboro, Great Malboro
Nova - Omega Weapon, Nemesis

In order to learn the attack, when facing one of the above enemies, use the Lancet ability which you can find under Special when in the attack menu.

Later in the game you can also learn many of these from Kimarhi's rivals -

Are any of these missable?

Potentially Nova, as you can only fight Omega Weapon once - I can’t recall if you can fight Nemesis multiple times.

And I don’t think you can fight his rivals a second time either.

I believe you can fight nemesis multiple times with him being a monster arena fight

Also, lancet is listed under special, not to the left of attack :)

Good to know. Great guide!

Edit: I thought it might be helpful to list all the rages you can learn from the Biran/Yenke fight.

Biran: Thrust Kick, Doom, Mighty Guard, Self-Destruct
Yenke: Fire Breath, Stone Breath, Aqua Breath, White Wind

Same here for me..... I wonder if the game wants you to actually learn the moves from the proper enemies and not Brian and yenke.

Maybe it has issues like the Jecht Shot. For that I had to soft reset the game, then it popped while loading.

To soft reset hold LB/RB LT/RT - ‘start’ and ‘select’ Together

I was able to almost finish the achievement on the Ronsos. I just needed White Wind knit Yenke wouldn't fork it over) and Nova (wasn't expecting to get that one yet). Not sure why I couldn't get White Wind.

Edit: I was able to get White Wind against the Dark Flan. Just need Nova now. I'll be sure to use Lancet on Omega Weapon or Nemesis when I fight them.

Any confirmation if these can be gained from the Monster Arena to avoid having to trudge back through the maps if you missed them earlier?

Thrust Kick cant be gotten from Bevelle Highbridge as it's a no-encounter zone. It does also spawn in Zanarkand though, so you can get it there.
