If you miss the book from HOME it's very quick and simple to get this.
All you need to do is make a save once you get that book.
Then, load your main save and go to "Lake Macalania" (there are other locations you can do this at, as long as there is a "Al Bhed Compilation Sphere").
Go up to the Al Bhed Compilation Sphere and it will say "Use previously saved Al Bhed Primer data to synthesize a new Al Bhed primer!"
Select your new save that you just made after you got the missing book and it will be added to your main save! If that's the only volume you need the Achievement should pop.

I'll upvote this as soon as I obtained my first achievement, have to restart already it seems haha (as I am still early in the game at the second save point).
