How to unlock the FFX: Striker achievement in FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster - Definitive Guide

The Sublimely Magnificent Jecht Shot Mark III:

This takes place after you exhaust Yuna, Lulu and Wakka's dialogues on the ship between Kilika and Luca. Go up to the blitzball and a tutorial appears. You have to press the direction of where Jecht's insults appear on the screen.

For example - if "you can't do it kid" appears in the top left corner of the screen, press cn_upleft and cn_A.

Complete the tutorial, then it will give you the chance to learn the shot. You don't have to get all of the inputs correct, but you do need a high percentage.

The achievement pops when the last insult has disappeared if you met the requirements to learn the shot

If you didn’t manage to do the Jecht Shot on your first trip to Luca, don’t worry. Fortunately, there is a way to get the Jecht Shot even if you fail the execution on the first try on the boat. The bad news, though, is that you’ll have to wait until you have control of the airship towards the end of the game.

Once you do have control of the ship, fly to Kilika and go to the ferry terminal. Jump on a ferry towards Luca and go interact with the ball on the ship’s deck. You can repeat as many times as necessary until you finally manage to execute it right, so don’t worry about failing it again.

I found using the thumb stick was easier then the d-pad when doing this.

This achievement didn't unlock for me when I first did it, but I did a soft reset of the game (hold all bumpers, triggers, view and menu at the same time) in preparation to try again and it unlocked whilst loading up FFX. So make sure to save just before doing it just in case, and maybe immediately after in a separate slot so you don't have to do it again if it unlocks like it did for me.

Also didn’t unlock for me - did the soft reset mentioned by RickytheWC (didn’t even know it was a thing!!) and it popped for me before the opening credit scene

Like to note that in case you missed this achievement some how on your 1st try, you can re-try this after obtaining the airship. You'll just need to go back to Kilika and take the boat to Luca again. The Blitzball should be in the same spot.

I had to soft reset as well. Thanks to Ricky for the suggestion. Might want to add it to the guide since it seems like a common issue.

I'd just like to add that you don't have to soft reset instantly. I got to Luca without the achievement and then read this guide. I saved the game, soft reset and it popped, so it seems fairly flexible :)

Ah the soft reset command from the original Ps2 version. I couldn't remember what the button combo was. Ty Ricky
