How to unlock the Big Game Hunter achievement in FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 - Definitive Guide

This Achievement is for Beating the 4 boss Monster in Archyite Steppe Year Unknown. Each time you change the weather There is a different boss.

- Invincible - Spawns in the southeast section of the map when weather is cloudy.

-Long Gui - Spawns in the east section of the map when weather is sunny.

-Ochu - Spawns in the west section of the map when weather is rainy.

- Yomi - Spawns in the southeast section of the map when weather is thundery.

Most of this are not that hard, the hardest out of the four is Yomi. I found the best tactic on Yomi was this
Rav-Rav-Com
Com-Com-Com
Sab-Sab-MED
Sen-Sen-Med
Med-Med-Med
Now the tactic to this is to poison Yomi with Sab. Then try to chain break him, and get a few attacks in. Once his shields go up heal then repeat. It dosnt get to hard until he starts using his special attack. At this point it is strongly advised to go into Sen-Sen-Med, and wait for him to go back into his shield state. With a little practice you will be able to kill him.

heres a video on the fragments you need to get the begining 8 fragments before you can fight the monsters.

Edit: if ur going to vote negative please state why so i could fix it for everyone else.

I'm nearly tempted to down-vote this just from the poor grammar and lack of punctuation, which makes this terrible and difficult to read.

If there is anything to fix, it's that. And I'd get right on that if I were you.

So i can't seem to get the quest to go find these guys i just killed the long gui and can't find a quest for the other 2-3 unless there is no actual quest and they just show up at their location like the long gui did?

Sometimes with these enemies you have to return to Historia Crux after one battle before the next one spawns.

Not often you see multiple solutions here in which not 1 actually tells you how to make the enemies spawn. The pre-condition for getting these quests is to defeat the 3 Gigantaurs after touching the phased cactaur statues. 1 is in the cactus patch in the main area, 1 in the middle of the swamp, and 1 in the north east swamp only when sunny.

You can see above where the four bosses are, but I've found a good tactic for beating Yomi, who was the only one that gave me a problem.

You only need 3 paradigms

SEN/SEN/SEN
SAB/SAB/SEN
SYN/SYN/MED

You use the SAB and the SYN one based on what state he is is.

If he has his shield up, then the SYN one gets used, to buff up and heal.

Once the shields down hit the SAB paradigm, and with the character you control spam poison, and once that hits spam wound.

Repeat until dead. (Him dead, not you)

Use the sentinel one for when he uses his big attacks.

Tried this solution with a capped party and no one is dead during the battle. Even non-cap party should be at ease with this tactics. Good job Pull Shapes !

Brilliant and elegantly simple solution, worked first time with Silver Chocobo LV45 and fully developed party.

Used this method for my first time, wish I didn't as it almost seemed too easy. I can only imagine the headache you saved me judging by other comments, so thank you so much.

My Noel and Serah were both maxed out with 99 for all six skill sets.
Green Chocobo level 99
Bunker Beast level 38

I only switched to Sen/Sen/Sen three times towards the end of the fight and still no one was downed. Completion time was just above 16 minutes (1 star rating) and this was on normal.

Big Game Hunter - Defeated every worthy opponent.

There are four special boss-like enemies in the steppes, one for each weather type.

- Long Gui - Have the weather sunny and you can't miss it.
- Ochu - Have the weather on Rainy and talk to the Hunter that you got the story line quests from and he will give you a quest that makes him appear.
- Invincible - Have the weather on Cloudy and talk to the lady that you did the wool quest from, and she gives you the quest.
- Yomi - Have the weather on the last setting, which is with the purple sky and the lightning. Talk to the Hunter you got the storyline quests from again, and he gives you this final quest. Yomi is a weaker version of the hardest boss in Final Fantasy XIII. You need the chocobos unlocked to get to him, and I am not sure if you can even get the quest without having them unlocked anyways. To unlock the chocobos you need to get all 5 red statues, 3 green statues, and the yellow one. After getting those activated, the lady next to the chocobo pen has a dialogue.

You unlock this achievement after defeating Yomi in a fight.

nevermind i found what i was missing; a green statue. I confirm you need to find all three green statues in order to get the quests.

I can confirm you have to have all other fragments first, as well as in order to receive the quest for each of the bosses you need to exit to the Historia Crux and re-enter.

This tactic is for defeating Yomi,

The paradigms used:

SEN/SEN/SEN
SAB/SAB/SEN
SYN/SYN/MED
RAV/RAV/SYN
MED/MED/MED

You want to start the fight off in the SAB/SAB/SEN paradigm.
Allow the character your not controlling to spam Wound. While you apply Deprotect, Poison (until it lands) and then Imperil. Then change to RAV/RAV/SYN, you will most likely only get to use this paradigm for a turn or two before Yomi's shield comes back up.

Then switch to SYN/SYN/SEN to get your party's buff back up, then repeat the above process, until he switches to his special attacks, then switch to SEN/SEN/SEN. After a special attack he would generally put his shield up. Use MED/MED/MED if needed, then switch to SYN/SYN/MED to buff up before repeating the process.

In total this method can be a lengthy one, but one that finally allowed me to beat him, after many tries.

To add to the other. To get the other three. You need to get nine of twelve fragments to fight the last three. And one three is needed to fight the last one. I hope this help others of why they not abled to fight the other ones yet.

This achievement requires the defeat of four bosses in the Archylte Steppe area. You'll need to kill them all for their fragments to earn "Defragmented" as well. Once you can ride chocobos in this map (find all five statues on the map below and then speak with the keeper), you'll also be able to battle these opponents. To spawn them, use the weather machine at the hunter camp to create the right weather condition.

I suggest waiting until you've beat the game and either finished or are close to the "Supreme Being" achievement. Getting the Odinblade is a good idea as well. See "Giant's Fist" for how to obtain that. My Noel had 1000+ Strength when I did all these and they were extremely easy.

Note: Long Gui does not have an associated "quest" for killing him. The other three do (two from that man next to the weather machine, one from the sheep girl). If the quests don't trigger, try changing the weather and exiting the time and then returning. That should force them to show up.

  • Immortal - Found in SE when Windy (both up). Really nothing special to this guy, just a quick stagger than a Commando pounding.
  • Long Gui - Found in E when Sunny (both down). You'll need to Stagger and "kill" each of his legs for him to fall down, then Stagger his body to 999% and go full Commando. Throwing a Deprotect on won't hurt either. See "Giant's Fist" to get that achievement during this fight as well. Might take two rounds of stagger to kill him, just make sure to heal after any stomps.
  • Ochu - Found in W when Rainy (left up, right down). This fight is much easier than the first game. Again, with 1000+ Strength for Noel and Magic for Serah, I just used Rav/Com/Com with a few switches to heal. Take down the adds or their damage can take a toll quickly though.
  • Yomi - Found in SE when Stormy (left down, right up). Poison/Wound is going to be your biggest source of damage to this monster. Have three paradigms ready for this, one Sab/Sab/Med to cast the debuffs, one Med/Med/Med for quick full heals and one Sen/Sen/Sen that you will switch to any time he uses the "Wicked Whirl" attack. If you have some extra time, go full Commado for extra damage but I didn't bother.
