The description of this achievement is quite misleading. An "army's worth of enemies" is really only 100, so you should be able to manage obtaining this before leaving New Bodhum. In reality, you should earn this achievement shortly after receiving the Giant's Artefact, and before tackling the Gogmagog the second time.
