How to unlock the Giant's Fist achievement in FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 - Definitive Guide

For this achievement you need to deal 99,999 damage with a single attack.

Use Noel as the character controlled in battle ensuring he has at least over 800+ attack. A maxed out Noel with Odinblade (which is the fragment weapon obtained from Hope in exchange for the 'Chaos Crystal' fragment that can be bought from Serendipity). Use this with 3 x Power Wristbands and you can easily break 1000+ Attack Power.

I think using this weapon is easier to obtain as the Ultima Weapon requires a rare drop ( 2 x trapezohedrons ) from Yomi which can take a while to get.

You also need to ensure that Noel has learned Smite and Scourge skills from the Crystarium which you learn with a highly developed commando. This allows him to deal a massive amount of damage in a single hit as a Commando, but the timing has to be just right. Noel needs to be attacking the monster (with the command "Attack") at the time when the monster recovers from being Staggered.

Once Noel is in the area of 800-1100 Attack Power and has learned Smite and Scourge, all you need to do is find an enemy with A LOT of HP. I used the Long Gui in Archylte Steppe. Stagger the enemy until it's at 999%, hit it with Deprotect to increase your attack damage, then initiate a series of 5 x Attack commands with Noel 2-3 seconds before the enemy recovers from Stagger If the timing of his attacks coincide correctly with the moment the enemy recovers from Stagger, you'll see a 99,999 damage hit. For me, the achievement popped as soon as this amount of damage was made.

There are other places you can obtain this achievement and you can use Noel's Ultima weapon if you wish, I just prefered to do it this way because I was getting annoyed with Yomi not dropping the trapz I needed to make his ultima weapon.

Good Luck! :)

You can also do one Durable Brawler's Wristband and two Delicate Power Wristbands. This will give you +36% attack. You can do two Brawler's Wristbands, if you have an item called "Spined Horn" which drops in Acadamia from the Managlmr or whatever you can buy a second wristband in Yaschas Massif 01X AF which gives you +40% attack.

Of course, that's all not really that necessary. I just happened to want to have a ridiculous amount of attack. :D

Used your guide so +1 but I didn't need scourge or smite. The super beefy chichu got this for me after long gui gets staggered with all the same buffs you already mentioned. Thanks

I did this with no problem. Noel all roles maxed, all 160 frags. Odinblade + 3 Power Wrist had me near 1200 ATK. Fought Long Gui with a Cloudburst, Silver Choco and Yakshini. I had the Yakshini Link precharged and threw that out right before I used Noel's super attack at the end of the stagger.. Meteor Comet or whatever.

Excellent guide. Nice to know somebody else could get it done wtihout having the weapons for +1 ATB slot to maximize the Meteor Javelin. (I didn't use Meteor Javelin at all and still popped this achievement.)

Even though I had the Odin weapons (and 159/160 fragments)for Noel and Serah (both maxed all roles), I'd been using the lesser IIndrajit and Romulus & Remus weapons for fighting bosses because of their 50% increase in ATB speed and slight bump (8% I think) in Buff Duration. Since I can't get a pre-emptive strike on these guys, the quicker ATB speed really helps, and the little bump in Buff Duration means I can stay on the offensive longer than normal before reapplying.

I only used 2 equipped items for Noel, the Berserker's Ruby (dropped from Malebranche) and the Impeder's Opal (dropped from a Vampire) to help with the SAB/SAB/SYN paradigm and the COM/COM/COM paradigm and got this towards end of Long Gui's stagger (four debuffs, including Poison, on the Long Gui and five buffs, including Bravery and Enthunder on my party members). Serah had the same two items, plus Grimoire Hat for increased efficacy of potions mainly. My SYN was a Purple Chocobo infused with En-(element) spells from other monsters. I just used a Librascope at beginning so the AI would know the right one to use. I had Golden Chocobo for my monster COM and Blue Chocobo for my monster RAV.

Getting 99,999 damage with a single attack is very simple if you wait to do this achievement after you max your characters out. Follow this video and you should get it

Just to add, I defeated him without damaging his defences or even using just attack at the end.

Noel just auto attacked the left leg as it was about to recover and he got max damage.

Getting 99,999 damage with a single attack is very simple if you wait to do this achievement after you max your characters out. Considering all the CP you get from getting fragments and doing paradox endings, this shouldn't be that big a deal.

Once fully leveled, set Noel as the leader and go take on the Long gui in the Archylte Steppe. You can fight him by setting the weather to sunny.

Take out his legs by using the tri-disaster paradigm to stagger and cerberus to deal damage.

Once he falls, stagger him to 999% using tri-disaster then go cerberus. Make Noel attack the long gui right before he goes out of stagger. If you timed it correctly, Noel will use scourge. While you are charging your atb you can hit Y to attack immediately.

You don't need to use the ultimate weapons to achieve this, a fully leveled Noel using scourge should easily do this.

(edited - I also read up somewhere that if you level up Twilight Odin to level 99 he can do 99,999 damage with his feril link alone. but he is the most expencive monster to level up. and it would be best to level him using power items vs potent as power adds 2x more than potent would. Potent items increases all 3 stats evenly which is why it adds less than the raw stat the other 3 would add.)

To get this achievement might annoy many people ( like myself -_- ) this is basicly what needs to be done.

Your monsters used in this fight should be Thexteron ( Syn ) (any sen you have to tank damage from long gui's attacks ) and a com who has a com bonus boost of at least 1.. I used a red chocobo who had a level 2 bonus and I barely managed to hit 99999.

Noel needs to have his ultimate weapon Mac an Luin

This is obtained by buying it from Chocolina with these components. ( Vajradanda x1 from chocobolina in academia 500 af
Trapezohedron x2 which drops off of Yomi only
and a Phoenix Blood which you can buy at Serendipity for 1200 coins.

This weapon gives Noel an extra ATB gauge which boosts his damage when using his Meteor Jav attack.

for Accessories you will need to have 4 Delicate Iron Bangles equiped with that weapon, this will give Noel a Power Surge of 25% more damage if his HP is in the green, so full HP more or less. ( I should note that the 4 accessorys will give only 10% but the weapon will boost it to 25% as a 5 item combo )

Capture a Thexteron from Augusta Tower 300 AF ( he might be all over but I only ran into him on floor 14 and hes not that common )

You will need him to be maxed level to get Bravery and enthunder.
To give him enthunder you will need to learn the skill on another syn and infuse it into him as he don't learn it. The 3 that learn this spell are, Amanojaku ( lv 20 ) Oannes ( Lv 20 ) Miquiztli (lv 11 )

I don't remember where you get these guys.. I happened to have an Oannes in my list and leveled him to 20 and gave his ability to Thex.

As mentioned the monster to fight for this achievement is Long Gui in Archylte Steppe. Knock out his legs by using rav/rav/com build to stagger and 3x com to finish it off. but dont forget to go 3x sen once hes about at attack.. you will see way in advance when he will so you have more than enough time to defend.

Once hes on the ground, be sure to use deprotect on him and switch to a build with thexteron. ( I used Med Med Syn so I can heal and have him buff me.) be sure to have Bravery and enthunder on Noel and fully healed. Stagger Long Gui to 999.9% and switch to 3x Com and use the Ultimate attack Meteor Jav. this should instantly hit 99,999

I tried this with both characters roles Maxed out to 99. if this don't work for you and you aren't maxed out try to do that first.

I hope this helps anyone out there that is having problems with this. if not please let me know and maybe I can help out in any way.

(Edited - Just a comment to people who add *negitive* to solutions.. if you add a neg comment it would be nice to add a comment as to why it was a bad solution vs just trying to lower other peoples creditability... this guide I used was not something I came up with. it came straight out of the official guide book. just pointing that out to anyone who may look at the Positive / negitive numbers to determine which guide to follow )

I have found a way to achieve this feat reliably, using Noel’s Ultima attack.

The easiest way to get this achievement is to use Noel's Ultima ability when an enemy is about to come out of stagger mode. If you time it just right, the ability that causes critical hits to land will trigger and you will do an absurd amount of damage..

Enter Ville Peaks 10 AF, fight a Dreadnought (they have a healthy amount of HP, so you can easily stagger to 999.9% without killing it) and stagger it to, or around 999.9%.

Have Noel buffed with Bravery (a captured [Sentinel] Goblin Chieftain’s Ferral Link is awesome for doing this - all high-end parties should have a well-developed Goblin Chieftain, make sure to infuse it with challenge and mediguard if you want to use it at low levels), and make sure he has Commando Bonus II. When stagger is almost gone, execute Noel’s Ultima attack. 1 or 2 of the barrage of attacks will hit for 99,999 each time I do this.

Of course, it is worth mentioning that Noel has 914 strength at this point… and is in the second to last Crystarium stage. You can play around with debuffing the Dreadnought to make up for a lack of strength if need be.

For this achievement, you need to deal 99,999 damage with a single attack, which can come from anyone in your party. I did this with a maxed-out Twilight Odin on a Long Gui. It may be possible with other tamed monsters. I would prefer using a monster over Noel because Feral Link is easy to time. In addition, there is no need for high-end weapons or accessories. Monster materials are relatively easy to farm once your party is strong enough.

The process is simple. Before the battle, make sure that Feral Link is ready and be familiar with its button sequence (critical).

Buff your party with bravery. After taking out both legs, put Deprotect on the downed Long Gui. Stagger it to over 900%. Now initiate a Feral Link. You must be quick to get a high damage multiplier (I got over 800%).

In summary, a maxed-out Odin + Bravery + Deprotect + Stagger 999% + Feral Link (probably 700% or higher) = an achievement

If you played the first game you'll be familiar with this method (the Limit Breaker achievement).

Character: Noel
Attack Power: 800+
Equipment: Odinblade, 3x Power Wrist
Skills: Smite, Scourge
Enemy: Long Gui (Archylte Steppe)

Now, to get this setup you'll need a few things. First, to get Odinblade you need to have purchased the "Chaos Fragment" from the Serendipity Casino and then spoken with Hope in City of Academia AF4XX. The more fragments you collect, the stronger it becomes so you can wait until after unlocking "Defragmented" to try this if you want. You'll want to max his Commando role to unlock the skills needed as well.

For those skills to trigger and allow a 99,999 damage hit, you need to hit the enemy just as they recover from stagger. Stagger the enemy to 999% and throw a Deprotect on to lower its defense, then just wait (so you don't kill it on accident). Queue up five normal attacks and confirm them 2-3 seconds before its Stagger Meter completely drains. If you time it properly, you'll trigger your skills and have enough attack power to max out the damage meter.
