How to unlock the Saddle Sore achievement in FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 - Definitive Guide

10'000 steps riding a Chocobo is unlikely to come naturally in a normal playthrough, requiring you to grind it a bit, probably by rubberbanding your left stick so the choco runs in circles.

However, if you are aiming to collect all the fragments, you should leave this achievement until you've done that. With all the 160, you'll unlock the 'Clock Master' skill from Serendipity. This allows you to play the game at twice the speed, cutting your grind time in half.

Thanks to Worhammer and Zombie Deej for reminding that the achievement only unlocks when you dismount the Choco. So check regularly if it's done yet.

Might want to put in your solution that the achievement doesn't pop until after you get off the chocobo. I wasted 5 hours on it cause I didn't know that :/

Proud to say I got this legit without boosting or Clock Master

Clock Master... I can't believe I rubber-banded my controller and DIDN'T enable that...

Also, yes, add that it only pops when you dismount. I must've taken about ten thousand steps.

This is the last achievement I need.
Now I'm getting dizzy...
You should also add that changing the Chocobo music to Crazy Chocobo and turning your headset up to max volume will result in real life head banging xD

@redjarman, yeah, and I'm proud I rubber banded the controller for 3 hrs after beating the game and doing other things around the crib. Thumbs up for the solution. Doesn't really matter where to get a Chocobo from. Just get on him and let the chicken (or whatever they are) walk around in circles.

There doesn't appear to be any in-game (or in-app) way to track progress and reading rubberbanding for 3 hours or overnight can be daunting. You first encounter chocobo 1/2 hour into the game and, if running circles in the crater, 100 steps takes 40 seconds, meaning 10,000 steps takes just over an hour; cakewalk for any achievement hunter or completionist.

For this achievement you have to walk 10,000 steps with a Chocobo.

A helpful way I found to get this achievement is to ride your Chocobo around Academia-4XX AF- while going for the "Captain Cryptic" fragment sets.

He teleports after every set you complete. You could knock out half of these at the minimum finding him all three times.

You could also ride chocobos while just running around for fragments in the areas. It adds up quick.

You unlock this achievement after reaching the 10,000 steps, and dismounting from your chocobo.

This is the secret achievement "Saddle Sore" which requires you to take more than 10,000 steps while riding a Chocobo. As much as you would love to run around the whole world of FFXIII-2 with a Chocobo their are easy ways to grab this achievement. In Bresha Ruins (005 AF) & New Bodhum their were Chocobo to ride right off the gate. But your able to stick yourself in a corner or do donuts and rubberband your controller and leave it over night if trying to journey that much is too much for you. After you unmount from the Chocobo the achievement will pop.

You won't get into combat while riding a chocobo, no matter where you're riding it. That's pretty much the purpose of it, travel fast without having to fight any monster.

@moogless in FF13 you could get hit by monsters while riding on the chocobo, so it didnt stop fights in that game.

Not really but I swear everytime I unmount from a Chocobo it puts me in a fight so so they may keep me from fights when I ride one but they sure as hell put me right in a fight when I get off one

The goal for unlocking this achievement is to ride 10,000 steps on a Chocobo. I found the quickest way to unlock it is by heading to the Yashas Massif in 1X AF, since the area span a long distance.

Go from Hope's archilogical site to the next storyline gate, then ride all the way back. Rinse and repeat until you feel you have the 10K steps needed for the achievement.

The achievement will unlock once you dismount from the Chocobo.

you have to take 10,000 steps on the chocobo which can get pretty boring best place to get it is academia 4xxaf its a huge place so you should have any trouble, also chocobos are scattered all through time soon as you see one get on its back and start riding around the map. you can also use it to get 100% clearance on each map without running in to monsters

This achievement requires 10,000 steps while riding a chocobo. If you have not received this by the end of the game, or just want to grind it out quickly while you're away from the game, use a rubber band to hold the to the side and run in circles for a while. Make sure you won't hit a wall or anything to stop your progress. The achievement will unlock once you dismount.

If you still need this after collecting all 160 Fragments, turn on the rewarded "Clock Master" skill to speed up gameplay.
