How to unlock the Instrument of Fate achievement in FINAL FANTASY XIII - Definitive Guide

This is essentially a freebie achievement.

This is the first achievement in the game. After starting the game and watching some cinematics you will eventually get into a fight with a Manasvin Warmech, the first battle of the game. Just follow the instructions in the tutorial and you will easily defeat the Manasvin Warmech. The warmech has a very low HP (360) and is easily dispatched by your attacks.

Achievement: Instrument of Fate- 15G

This achievement is story related and cannot be missed.

After you've started the game and watch through the opening cinematics you'll gain control of Lightning and enter your first battle against a Manasvin Warmech. With the help of Sazh and following of the tutorial you should dwindle his 360 HP and defeat it. Upon your victory you'll set out on your journey and pop this achievement!

Ok this is part of the story relate you get this after the fight with Manasvin Warmech is easy one to get at the very beginning of the game

It will unlock towards the beginning of Chapter 1.

This is the first trophy you will unlock in the game. After you get on to the roof of the train, you will have your first battle against a Manasvin Warmech. Once you win this easy battle, the trophy will unlock.
