How to unlock the Pulsian Pioneer achievement in FINAL FANTASY XIII - Definitive Guide
Once you are nearing the end of Chapter 11, you will arrive at Oerba, which is Vanille's and Fang's hometown.
Walk all the way until you get to a Cie'th Stone. Head right from there and you will come to a spacious area with a bunch of non-threating enemies (Seekers mostly). Either evade or defeat them and head for the house at the end. Run up the stairs (ignore the Vetala enemy on the ground floor) and inside there will this broken Wall-E look-a-like robot "pet" named Bahkti on the ground.
Sazh can repair it -- if only he has the right components to do so. From that moment on, you will need to collect 5 components in order to repair Bahkti. They are all close by and marked on your map so it's far from difficult to gather them. Except for one, that can only be collected by defeating a Vampire Cie'th. Once all components are gathered, return to Bahkti, the poor broken pet.
When Sazh repaired Bahkti, it will give you a title depending on the amount of steps you have taken on Gran Pulse. Why this little nosy robot would reward you for doing such a thing... who knows.
Title -- amount of steps needed -- reward:
Pilgrim -- Take 4,999 steps on Gran Pulse -- 10 Deceptisols
Sojourner -- Take 5,000 steps on Gran Pulse -- 2 Ultracompact Reactors
Trailblazer -- Take 7,000 steps on Gran Pulse -- Gold Nugget
Cartographer -- Take 9,000 steps on Gran Pulse -- 5 Perfumes
Pulsian Pioneer -- Take 10,000 steps on Gran Pulse -- 3 Platinum Ingots
If you receive a title then you know how many steps you have taken at least already.
For example: if you get the "Sojourner" title you know you're at least half way there. This is the only way to get an idea of how many steps you have taken!
Once you return to the Bahkti and suddenly get the "Puslian Pioneer" title, you will gain the Achievement alongside your 3 Platinum Ingots reward.
There are no missable rewards. If you repair Bahkti and already have taken 10.000 steps, then you'll get all rewards and titles listed above.
Also, this "side quest" is not mandatory to either the completion of Chapter 11 or the main story.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
In Chapter 11, you can do a side quest in Oerba Village to repair a robot named Pakuti. Go find the items needed to repair him from around the village (they will appear as a “?” when approached), and one piece will come from killing some creatures. Then return to him. If you have walked the necessary amount of steps, you will receive the achievement. If not, keep walking around and just talk to him later on in the game.
As soon as you reach Chapter 11, every step you take on Gran Pulse will count towards this trophy. However, this trophy won't unlock automatically once you hit 10,000. In order to unlock it, you must first go to Oerba Village and repair Vanille's pet robot, Bhakti. Once you first encounter Bhakti in the Dilapidated Dwelling in Oerba Village, you'll be tasked with finding five replacement parts so that Sazh can fix him. All five parts are scattered around Oerba (items will be indicated with a question mark ? when you approach their location):
- Power Cable: Located on a cart just outside of the Dilapidated Dwelling where Bhakti is located, near the tower.
- Battery Pack: Head into the room just outside the Dilapidated Dwelling and defeat the Vetala in there. Once you defeat the Vetala, the Battery Pack will appear in the room.
- Trochoid Gear: Dropped by a Vampire that you can encounter near the steps down to the waterfront. Encounter the enemies in this area and you'll get it.
- Aspheric Lens: Head into the Deserted Schoolhouse by the waterfront and defeat the Vetala and two Chonchons inside the entrance. Once defeated, pick up the Aspheric Lens behind them.
- Metal Plate: Head up to the Rust-eaten Bridge and you'll find this near where you enter.
Once you have all five parts, return to Bhakti and Sazh will repair him. Once repaired, talk to Bhakti and you'll receive a rank based on how many steps you've taken on Gran Pulse. If you're given the rank Pulsian Pioneer, then you'll receive this trophy. If not, simply walk around some more and come back later for it.
Along with the trophy, you'll also receive a few nice items from talking to Bhakti, such as Deceptisol x10, Ultracompact Reactor x2, Gold Nugget, Perfume x5 and Platinum Ingot x3.
