How to unlock the Treasure Hunter achievement in FINAL FANTASY XIII - Definitive Guide
It was once thought that this achievement was non-missable. Since I orginally wrote this solution, it's come to light that it is possible to miss this achievement, so I advise that you do 2 things, with a back-up plan in case things get ugly:
1) DO NOT SELL ANY WEAPONS OR ACCESSORIES. It is actually possible to screw yourself out of this achievement (or make things much harder on yourself) by selling certain accessories before upgrading/dismantling them. As long as you only sell money-making items such as credit/incentive chips, gold nuggets, platinum ingots, etc., then you will be fine. As a general rule of thumb, if it says "Can be sold for a premium" in the components description, then it's safe to sell.
2) The elemental rings are notorious for screwing people out of this achievement, so you should try to obtain at least one ring in each elemental type during your playthrough. Exploring all of the maps and doing all of the missions will probably get you this anyway, but I'd still recommend making sure that you pick up these items at minimum (some are located in multiple places, I'm just listing at least one place to get them):
-Ember Ring: Treasure Sphere in Chapter 4, Vile Peaks, Devastated Dreams
-Spark Ring: Treasure Sphere in Chapter 4, Vile Peaks, Scavenger's Trail
-Aqua Ring: Treasure Sphere in Chapter 6, The Sunleth Waterscape, Rain-Spotted Vale
-Zephyr Ring: Treasure Sphere in Chapter 11, The Archylyte Steppe, Central Expanse
-Clay Ring: Treasure Sphere in Chapter 11, The Archylyte Steppe, Eastern Tors
-Frost Ring: Complete Mission 11
As long as you make sure to obtain all of these (and don't sell them before upgrading), then you've eliminated the most missable part of the achievement.
3) But what if you've already missed all of these rings, or sold them without upgrading them first? There's one last hope. There are charms for each elemental type that are completely unmissable. They are all located in the Archylyte Steppe in Chapter 11, and, when upgraded to their "star" level, can be subsequently dismantled to yield the basic ring for that elemental type. So a starred Water Charm will dismantle into an Aqua Ring, a Fire Charm into an Ember Ring, and so on. DO NOT use a catalyst on any charm, as they all turn into Twenty-Sided Die, which cannot be dismantled for rings and are obtained easily otherwise. Just upgrade the Charm to it's "star" level, dismantle, and voila, you have that elemental ring. You can then upgrade these rings into whatever tier(s) you missed. This is the last line of defense against missing this achievement. If you sold the rings before upgrading AND you sell these charms, then you're screwed.
[Credit goes to OMETALO and Misha LinGhan for info on dismantling charms]
Most weapons and accessories in this game have tiers, which are upgraded versions of that particular item. To obtain this achievement, you need to obtain every possible tier of every single weapon and accessory. If it upgrades to something with a different name, then that new version is needed towards the achievement. Keep in mind that all ultimate (Tier 3) weapons for a character have the same name, regardless of which weapon you upgraded it from. You only need ONE of these ultimate weapons per character, any beyond that is just a duplicate. For example, if I upgrade a Blazefire Saber into a Flamberge (Tier 2) and then into an Omega Weapon (Tier 3), then I have already obtained the Omega Weapon and can cross that off my list (along with the Blazefire Saber and Flamberge). If I then upgrade an Axis Blade into an Enkindler (Tier 2) and then into an Omega Weapon (Tier 3), only the Enkindler and Axis Blade have been counted towards the achievement, because my second Omega Weapon is a duplicate as far as the achievement is concerned. So max out one weapon to Tier 3 per character and the rest only to Tier 2, as this will save you LOTS of money and catalyst hunting.

Lastly, if you're having trouble finding some of the catalysts needed for upgrading, look here: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21...
The hardest things to get for this achievement are gil (lots and lots of it) and trapezohedrons, which are required for every ultimate weapon upgrade and cost a whopping 2,000,000 gil each. The best way to go about getting both of these things (and gain good CP in the process for the Master's Seal achievement) involves farming Adamantortoises. For info on that, check out my solution for the Master's Seal achievement here: https://www.trueachievements.com/a42946/masters-seal-ac....htm . Also, be sure to read the bottom of Drogan13's Equipment Upgrade Guide for a great way to turn one trapezohedron into three.
The other rare catalyst you'll need are Dark Matters, which go for 800,000 gil. You can either keep farming Platinum Ingots from Adamantortoises in order to buy them, or you can try to kill Shaolong Guis (5% drop). I personally went the Shaolong Guis route, though I'll warn you that these guys are challenging (as tough or tougher than Long Guis, in my opinion). But, once you get a good strategy down, you'll kill a lot of them in a short time, and they also drop Gold Nuggets, which sell for 60,000 gil, so you can make money in the process. If you want to attempt this, I've written a guide here:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=950899&a... (yes, that's me).
Once you've gotten everything (and it takes a long long time), you have to talk to Bhakti in Oerba to get the achievement. This requires having completed Bhakti's sidequest (see Pulsian Pioneer achievement). If you have gotten all weapons and accessories and talk to Bhakti, your achievement will pop. Congrats on getting the most time-consuming achievement in the game!
Puertoricarious has a great, in depth solution. The main thing I want to draw attention to in this particular solution is a complete list of weapons and accessories and the minimum amount of EXP each needs when upgrading to serve as a one-stop checklist. If you just want to check out the list, scroll down and skip my other beginning paragraphs.
Welcome to “Treasure Hunter,” the most time-consuming achievement in Final Fantasy XIII. As the other solutions state, and from personal experience, you do not need to equip every weapon/accessory but you must have had it in your inventory. And, as is also stated numerously, DO NOT SELL ANYTHING, especially anything elemental (rings, charms, etc.) as some of these cannot be purchased and can be missed if you pass a certain point in the story. Components are okay, but hold on to your weapons/accessories.
While you’re not selling anything, my advice is to save this achievement for last or near the last. If you haven’t acquired the “Galuf’s Grail” achievement yet, then realistically you don’t have to wait as long because the Adamantoises have not turned into Long Guis, but more on that below. If this is your last remaining achievement, then you don’t have much else left to do, so you can sell a lot of your weapons and accessories (save the elementals, and Gold Watch just in case, though!) and get a slight extra boost in cash; just keep your best, favorite, or most useful weapons/accessories so you can still dedicate a quarter of your real life on this earth to gil farming.
If you aren’t aware of it by now, you are going to need a lot of gil. I didn’t calculate it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the minimum amount is at least 1-10 billion gil. Whatever the minimum, you’re going to need a lot.
TIPS/STRATEGIES
Where to farm – I have two favorite strategies.
1.) Mission 63 Loop – There’s a lot of traveling in this strategy, but you’re guaranteed at least a Gold Nugget for 60,000gil each time. First, make sure you have a working strategy to take down Adamanchelids and Adamantoises. When you’re confident, teleport to Sulyya Springs and find the Mission 63 stone (near the opposite end of the cave), accept the mission, then return to teleport to Archylte Steppe – Northern Highplain.
If you don’t know where the mark is, check your map and make your way. While en route, take out any Adamanchelids and Adamantoises you come across; there should be four ‘Chelids and three ‘Toises that spawn around this open area of Gran Pulse, plus your mark, which is an Adamantortoise. ‘Chelids drop Gold Dust (15,000gil) occasionally, and ‘Toises drop the all important Platinum Ingots (150,000gil) and Trapezohedrons (rarest upgrading catalyst).
I also hopped onto a Chocobo to travel quicker and maybe even dig up some Gold Dust or even a Nugget.
Repeat ad nauseum. You’ll at least earn 60,000gil per loop, but more than likely more. Earning the “Galuf’s Grail” achievement turns all/most of the games ‘Chelids and ‘Toises into Shaolong Guis and Long Guis, which are harder forms of themselves, so each run, if they haven’t transformed and you can kill the beasts quickly, can take over 20 minutes, and Platinum Ingots are frustratingly hard to come by. If you get tired of this, here is my other and preferred favorite method.
2.) Eden Hall, not the Adamantoise by the save point – Assuming you’re on your second playthrough, go to Orphan’s Cradle and teleport to Eden Hall. From the point where you teleport, plow forward and kill any and all enemies up to the Juggernaut. The important foes are the Sacrifices and the Sanctum Inquisitrixes because they drop either Scarletites (7,000gil) or Perfumes (12,500gil). Defeat the Juggernaut, ignore the Tyrant, and run through the hall to your left.
Run down this hall for a few seconds until the doors close shut behind you, go back, and all the enemies should have respawned. Repeat going the opposite way, making it all the way back to the teleport thingy, then turn around again, and the enemies should have respawned again.
I really prefer this method because with a maxed out Connoisseur Catalog (and a Collector Catalog just in case), maxed out characters, and strong weapons, Perfumes and Scarletites were dropped multiple times. After each run (back and forth at another 20 minutes or so) I commonly had at least 100,000gil. The Adamantoise by the save point (which is located after the long hall instead of turning around) is not nearly as consistent; I’ve gone hours and only acquired very few Platinum Ingots.
Upgrading
- My suggestion is to finish the weapons list first because that requires the most EXP. A quick way to get enough Trapezohedrons for your final weapons (see Weapons list below) is to upgrade Vanille’s Mistilteinn to Nirvana, then dismantle it to get three Trapezohedrons. (In Dathaen's solution, he links the same quick strategy I used). You’ll need one to start with, obviously and unfortunately.
- A key to upgrading the higher EXP value accessories/weapons a lot quicker is to have the 3x bonus before you apply your higher experience-giving components. The cheapest way is to apply 36 Sturdy Bones or 36 Vibrant Ooze (can be purchased at Creature Comforts) before applying anything else.
- A cheap component that gives a nice amount of experience is the Superconductor (Lenora’s Garage). Use 36 Sturdy Bones/Vibrant Ooze, then slap on all the Superconductors you need. I used a lot of these, without the Sturdy Bones/Vibrant Ooze, for the lower EXP value accessories.
- Once you've completed your lists, you must travel to Bhakti in Oerba to get the achievement.
The Lists
Below are complete lists of the Accessories and Weapons. They are compiled from three sources (listed at the end) so I don’t take any credit, except for combining the stats together. Not included are the buffs and debuffs, passive abilities, etc, because this is more of a checklist. I did include the experience points needed, however, there is some discrepancy between sources 1 and 2, but if you meet the points listed you’ll definitely find that star after each item in the upgrade menu.
Puertoricarious' solution includes links to similar sites for EXP values, and I totally encourage using those if you'd like more stats and suggestions. I don't want to tread on his toes; I just wanted to put all the basic information in one place.
Items in bold I had to buy, or at least I didn’t get them naturally through the game.
Stated midway through the comments of Puertoricarious' solution, if you have one of the higher accessories in a grouping, that does not count as having everything below it. For example, having the Mythril Bangle does not mean you have the Gold, Titanium, Tungsten, Silver, and Iron Bangles by default. You must have each and every single item.

Mission 24 - A Potent Sting is a decent money maker. The Mission reward is a Moonblossom Seed.
Moonblossom Seed sells for 6K, the fight is a 15 to 19 second fight (Pre-emptive Strike can end the fight in 8 to 13 seconds) with no heals, buffs, just use Cerberus (COM/COM/COM) The Mark pops at the stone which is zero travel time. You can roughly net 1.5 Moonblossom Seeds per minute. 60 minutes = 90 Seeds X 6K per Seed = 540K an hour from a guaranteed drop. If your 3 characters are fully geared/roles maxed, you can net up to 120 Seeds per hour equalling 720K.
No strategy required, All you have to do is mash the A button without looking at the screen. Not to mention all the spoils you get which you will also sell.
In my opinion, Mission 63 has a lot of downtime due to travel and the unreliability of Death landing. It doesn't compare to the ease of this. No healing, no buffs, no travel/downtime, no inefficient spell such as Death which has landed the first cast for me (once...) as well as taken up to 40 minutes of casting before it finally lands (more than once...) for a mere Gold Nugget.
Anyhow, I just needed a change of scenery and this is a nice and super easy alternative. You can switch between the 2 missions to keep yourself from dying of boredom.
Good luck.
Great solution.
To get a Trapezohedron very quickly and cheaply, without testing your luck on these Adamantoises, you can instead get the Genji Glove. Level them to star-level (they have only two levels, so it'll be cheap), so dismatle them, and you will receive among other things, a Trapezohedron.
There are three pairs of Genji Gloves in Final Fantasy 13 - from mission 51, 62 and 63. You can then get three Trapezohedron without spending tons of gil.
On the other hand, some people think Genji Glove is very useful, due to its uncaped damage-ability. Anyway, I've managed to get all the achievements without using the Genji Gloves even once, so they are really not that necessary if you are just hunting for the achievements. Check if you need them or not before you destroy them, because you can not get them back.
Hope this helps a little, as it did for me. : )
Use Drogan13's guide (http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/950899-final-fantasy-xiii/fa...) to find out how to make one Trapezohedron turn into three (its at the end of the guide).
If you can find two Traps off of the Oretoises, then it saves you 10 million gil (which can easily take you a good 3 days of solid farming to make), all others than that are just waste and can be sold.
I found two places to farm money at - Adamantortoises (Mission 63) for Platinum Ingots, and Sacrifices/Sanctum Inquisitrixes/Sanctum Archangels (Edenhall/Orphan's Cradle) for Perfumes, Scarletite, and Incentive Chips. The Platinum Ingots are worth 150k each, Perfume is worth 12.6k each, Scarletite is worth 7k each, and Incentive Chips are worth 2.5k each. All of these are rare drops off of their respective mobs.
The way loot works: Every enemy has a chance to drop a normal and a rare item. The rare item's drop chance gets calculated first, then the normal item's drop chance gets calculated.
Example - Sanctum Archangel's drops are Credit Chip (normal) and Incentive Chip (rare). The game calculates for the Incentive Chip, and if it IS dropped, then the Credit Chip WILL NOT drop. If the Incentive Chip ISN'T dropped, the game checks to see if the Credit Chip is dropped.
Method #1: Mission 63 (60 or 210k per run)
Personally, I think Mission 63 (Adamantortoise) is a great way to farm this. Port to Sulyya Springs to grab the mission, then port back to the north part of the Steppe. Run to the Oretoise place (northwest of the Cie'th Stones that are in a circle) and kill him. The first mission reward will give Genji Gloves, after that the mission reward is always a Gold Nugget worth 60k gil. This mark has the chance to drop a Platinum Ingot. I don't need to give a strat, as people already have better strats than I do (see above).
Method #2: Sacrifices/Sanctum Troops (0 to 393k gil per run)
Now, dont be scared away because theres a 0 up there. Statisically speaking, there is a TINY chance that you could get nothing on a run, but how unlikely is that? Extremely. Each mob you kill has a chance to drop one of its rare drops, so that is why there is a huge range of gil you can get (and all the Sanctum troops drop Credit Chips as their normal) and I'm not going to list every possible amount of gil you can get. Anyway, start in Orphan's Cradle, at the beginning, near all the Sacrifices. Kill them and port to Edenhall. Continue killing until the Tyrant (yes kill the Juggernaut). After killing the Juggernaut, go into the hallway with all the people in it and follow it until you reach the chest on your right. Turn around and kill everything on the way back to Orphan's Cradle. Everything inbetween and including the Sacrifices in Orphan's Cradle to the hallway area and back to the Warp Gate to Orphan's Cradle is considered one "run".
Items to have Equipped:
*Connoisseur/Scavenger/Collector's Catalog (increases rare/shroud/normal drop rates respectively)
Growth Egg (2x CP; equip only if you haven't maxed your Crystarium yet)
Aurora Scarf (for full ATB bar at the beginning of battles)
Sprint Shoes (Auto-Haste)
Genji Glove (Uncapped Dmg to kill things faster in stagger if you're strong enough, if not, dont worry about it)
There is a random ability called "ATB Rate: +10/15/20%" that you can get from stacking a few items - Aurora Scarf, Sprint Shoes, Nimbletoe Boots and a few others that I can't think of. With the Auto Haste you get from the Shoes, it makes your ATB gauge fill very quickly, and is good to have when farming.
Items marked with a * are necessary for farming gil to be effective.
Paradigms:
Method #1 - See other strats.
Method #2 - RAV/SAB/RAV with Light/Fang/Hope works pretty well, Sacrifices are resistant to physical and debuffs help, and Inquisitrixes/Archangels buff each other.

Wanted to add a bit of info..
(first of all, im from sweden and don´t really know how to spell certain words)
So, before you get all the Cie´th stone missions in the "ring" (by Achylte Steppe, Eastern Tors(i think) )
Farm some Adamantortoises and get your money up, because if you go for the missions in the ring (56-62) (once again, that´s just the missions that i remember)
Every Adamantoise and Adamantortoise will turn in to a Long gui, so it will be a lot easier to farm Adamantortoise.
The only Adamantoise left after the "change" is at Eden-Leviathan Plaza. (Where you see a movie scene when a Adamantoise fell through the glass).
By the way, the difference between a Adamantortoise and a Adamantoise is that the Adamantoise has almost the doubled HP (5343000HP).
So before you take on Adamantoises regulary you should have fully upgraded characters and at least! everyone with Tier 2 weapons. That will help a lot. I will add a list of weapons and accessories that i´ve upgraded and used, they are really good.
Hope this helped... leave a comment if something is unclear:)
Good luck!
Edit:
This is some great weapons to use if you´re having problems with your HP for example (This accessories and weapons is used if you kill it like you kill any monster, and by that i mean beating the sh*t out of it)
Your Battle Team should be: Fang, Lightning and Vanille with the following equipment:)
Fang - Kain´s Lance (any level) (mine is Lv.53) Gaian Ring, Imperial Armlet, Genji Glove, Power Glove.
Lightning - Omega Weapon (at least lv. 40) (Mine is Lv.49) Gaian Ring, Genji Glove, Champion´s Belt, Power Glove
Vanille - Nirvana (At least lv.55) (Mine is lv.81) Magistral Crest, Black Belt, Royal Armlet, Shaman´s Mark.
The wepons un-upgraded are Kain´s Lance=Dragoon Lance, Omega Weapon=Lionheart and Nirvana=Belladonna wand
By the way, you dont need the exact Accessories as i used.. Only as long as they almost have the same effects.
The paradigms i used was the following:
Fang/Light/Vanille
Syn/Syn/Syn
Com/Med/Med
Sab/Sab/Sab
Rav/Rav/Rav
Com/Com/Com
And the last one.. Not neccessary but can be useful if you´re not very strong.. Sen/Med/Med
Alternative is Sen/Sen/Sen ONLY when he is attacking. So you "eat" the damage.. But as i said this is only applied on WEAK characters. My characters are fully leveled up so i dont need to worry. But you should be fine with the accessories and stuff.
After you´re getting used to the fight and feel free to try farming some money(if you´re weak) then remove Power Glove on Fang and Lighting and Shaman´s Mark on Vanille and add a Collector catalog on each one.. If you were like me then just buy one at a time and slowly start build your money up.
This worked best for me...
But you can use the Death spell with vanille to but it takes up to 10 minutes to kill a Adamantortoise.. I killed one on 45 sec and one on half an hour.. BORING.. But write if you have any questions :)
You not only have to have the weapons and accessories that you can get by looting, you also have to have the ones you get through crafting - a much more daunting challenge indeed! There are some items you can get that will make this easier however, starting with Collector Catalog, which increases the frequency of Platinum drops in loot, and the Connoisseur Catalog, which increases the frequency of Dark Matters and Trapezohedrons that drop in loot. Obviously you want to keep an eye out for those accessory items to drop.
You will want to retain every ingot that you get to use in making the weapons you need to make for this, and while you do not actually have to possess ALL of the items at the same time, you do need to retain them until you can fully upgrade them - because each weapon has multiple level tiers and some of them are unique. That means if you mess up and sell one of the unique ones, you will not be able to get another like it, which means you will not be able to upgrade it, which means you will not unlock this achievement/trophy.
There are three level tiers for each weapon. which means you will not want to get rid of any weapon that is NOT a tier 3 weapon - simple enough to remember, right? Do not sell any tier 1 or 2 weapons and that will keep you from making a mistake. As for accessories, some of them are uber rare - for instance the elemental rings are basically one-offs. Sell one of those and you are hosed.
To unlock this achievement/trophy you will need to collect the following in addition to lots of ingots and lots of Gil. Each item is listed with its corresponding characteristic noted if it is a stat-effecting item (and most are).
Weapons Note: Each item listed is followed by an identification of its group and tier. Example = S1T1 translates to Sword 1, Tier 1. The tier 2 version of that sword is S2T2, etcetera.

To sum it up, you need to have possessed each weapon and accessory, and you need to have upgraded each to their maximum tier. Most of these drop as treasure or loot, but some have to be purchased.
I have a more detailed explanation about the whole upgrading system in case you don't understand, this could help and also my favourite tips/strategies for farming Trapezohedron & Plantinum Ingots with a lower level and a higher level party. Also at the bottom I have put a quick note with the requirements for obtaining the growth egg.*
FARMING TRAPEZOHEDRON & PLATINUM INGOTS
There are different (good) ways to kill the adamantoise & adamantortoise, and my way may not be the best, but I found these strategies to be easy and fast. One works well for lower level parties (only the 3 main roles leveled up to 4/5), the second one is much faster, but requires a higher level party with at the very least the main roles at lv. 5, and anything on top of that helps a LOT.
LOW LEVEL PARTIES:
1) Get Vanille's Malboro wand if you don't have it yet.
- SAVE YOUR GAME BEFORE UPGRADING!!!
• You need a maximum of 106.000 Gil for this if you don't have any of the items yet. ONLY sell credit & incentive chips, perfume, gold dust, nugget & platinum ingots, plush chocobo's, moogles & cactuar doll to get money.
• Check if you have the Belladonna wand, if not: buy it for 31.200 Gil at Plautus's Workshop. (select "Shop" via save point)
• Check if you have Uraninite, if not: buy one for 45.000 Gil at The Motherlode
• Buy 36 x Sturdy Bone at Creature Comforts for 2.880 Gil
• Buy 32 x Superconductor at Lenora's Garage for 26.880 Gil
• Select "Upgrade Weapon" via Save point
• Select the Belladonna wand
• Add 36 Sturdy Bone's (at once)
• Add 32 Superconductors (at once)
• Your Belladonna wand should now be lv. Star
• Add one Uraninite
Your Belladonna wand is now a Malboro wand!
2) Set up you Battle Team & Paradigms:
- Team Leader and Debuffer: Vanille
- Weapon: Malboro wand
- Accessories: anything to get her magic, magic resistance, and physical resistance up. Think of: Sorcerers Mark (I'm using two of those) Royal Armlet, Rune Bracelet etc.
Extra HP is welcome too, but only if you can't get the other things.
- Team Protector: Fang
- Weapon: Punisher (gives you TP charge when you stagger an opponent)
- Accessories: 1. Growth Egg. 2. Collector or Connoisseur Catalog (not both, or more than one). 3 & 4 Anything you've got left that raises her resistance physical and magic, but give the good stuff to Hope first, then Vanille, then Fang.
Team Medic & Buffer: Hope
Weapon: One with highest magic.
Accessories: Hope is your weakest link, but you need him for healing and you have to give him the best you have, especially to protect him from physical attacks and to enhance his HP and Magic. I gave him a Adamant Bangle (+800 HP) with a Weirding Glyph (Magic +150) an Imperial Armlet (Magic & Physical resistance + 10% and a Black Belt (Physical resistance + 10%.
PARADIGMS:
Vanille - Fang - Hope
1) Premeditation: SAB - SEN - SYN
2) Combat Clinic: MED - SEN - MED
3) Attrition: SAB - SEN - MED
4) Rel. Assault: RAV - COM - RAV
5) Diversity: RAV - COM - MED
6) Infiltration: SAB - SAB - SAB
If you are fighting little / easy enemies choose #4 as your default paradigm, when you try to farm the adamantoise, choose #1 as your default paradigm.
3) Farming Adamantoise & Adamantortoise:
These two creatures are found at the Archylte Steppe, two GIANT "turtles" walking around both sides of the central bit and two standing still by a group of young ("small") ones.
You can kill the 4 big ones just once, unlike all other creatures they only spawn after you leave the area completely or save, leave the game and load it again.
There are two strategies as you know. I'll give you my new one first, if that doesn't work (yet) I'll walk you through my old (longer) strategy.
((NOTE: Use ALL CP to get ALL your party members to level 5 in the SAB role ASAP! You'll probably have Vanille & Fang at 5 already, so start working on Hope as SAB before letting him get anything else. It will improve your chances at successful Death with Vanille greatly.))
- Make sure your TP bar is at least filled up to 3/5. Check at the menu in the right bottom corner. Next to the yellow bar you must have the number three, or you won't be able to summon.
If it's not full, fight little creatures (rather more weak ones than one stronger one!) until your bar is filled up enough. You can use other characters to do this faster if you want! (Lightning to replace Vanille or Hope). There's also some nice accessories available to help rebuild your TP bar faster.
- when you're ready get Vanille back as party leader with Fang and Hope. Enter the battle with Premeditation paradigm. Vanille as SAB, Fang as SEN and Hope as SYN.
- At the start, cast Death on the adamantoise (NOT the legs!) with Vanille. (abilities --> at the bottom right). If the the A'toise attacks, don't hesitate to switch to Combat Clinic paradigm to heal (MED - SEN - MED).
- Go back to Premeditation when possible to cast Death with Vanille, and back to Combat Clinic to heal, until Hope has put Haste on all party members. Make sure their health is never too low (at least 50%)
- Switch quickly to Infiltration paradigm (SAB - SAB - SAB) and select Technique --> Summon --> Hecatoncheir.
- As soon as possible, press X to go to "Gestalt" mode
- As soon as possible, press Y to attack and say goodbye to Hecatoncheir.
- Now you have full health, and the Adamantoise is helpless for a while. Fang and Hope will debuff like crazy, and you'll keep casting Death, over and over and over until you win (or die).
If you win you'll get 80.000 CP, possibly a Platinum Ingot or maybe even a Trapezohedron!
You'll need to fill your TP bar to 3 again, and then you can kill another one.
If you die; don't worry, you can choose "retry" and you'll be right where you were before you started the fight, and you can try again!
HIGH(ER) LEVEL PARTIES:
For higher level parties I'd recommend to kill off the 'toises without spamming death and/or using summons. However you do need Fang's Tier 3 weapon (Kain's Lance) and a Genji glove to do this. If you are pretty strong (say lv. 5 on all main roles and 2-3 on the others) you should be able to take them down in 2-3 minutes without these tricks, and that will save you a lot of time since you don't have to farm TP after every battle anymore. I'll also include my video showing exactly the following steps:
The Adamantortoise is easier to stagger & kill and gives the same rewards & CP. They are the big ones with the broken tusks that are standing still next to a group of little ones.
Paradigms:

• Switch to COM - COM - COM
Attack --- Adamantoise
Abilities --- Repeat - Adamantoise (Highwind)
* Don't worry about healing your party after the Adamantoise is down, it can't hurt you until it gets back up, and it should be dead before that happens :)
UPGRADING WEAPONS & ACCESSORIES:
I'm using the Belladonna wand as an example.
- The Belladonna wand is a tier 1 weapon at lv.1 at first. Before you can turn it into the tier 2 "Malboro wand" you need to level it up to the maximum level, which is shown as a star symbol. For the Belladonna wand this star is actually lv. 21.
- To level up the weapon you need to know how much XP you need to add to reach the star level, this is different for every weapon. This weapon form (tier 1) needs 38040 XP to get to the max (star) lv.
- You can simply add components to reach 38040 XP, but it's better to use cheaper components first, that give you an XP multiplier before using big XP components.
The highest XP multiplier is x3, and the cheapest way to get that is to buy 36 "Sturdy Bones" for 2880 gil at the shop called "creature comforts". You could get the same deal with "Vibrant Ooze" & "Barbed Tail" but no other item will give you the x3 multiplier for a better price.
- After using 36 sturdy bones on the Belladonna wand, it has a multiplier of x3, this means that the item(s) that you add next will have their XP value tripled! So let's say you add a superconductor that's normally worth 400 XP, it will now do x3 = 1200 XP!
However, after adding an item, or items once, the multiplier will drop, so it's best to add enough items in one go to get to the highest level in one step. this way it's less expensive overall.
- You know you need 38040 XP to get to star level, and you have a x3 multiplier from the 36 sturdy bones that you added first. So you need to add a (number of) component that's worth 12.680 XP at once, with the x3 multiplier that will get you 38040 in one step. The best deal this time is 32 x Superconductor (buy at Lenora's Garage) for 26.880 gil. Adding them makes you Belladonna wand lv. Star!
Again, there are other good deals, you can find them in the guide book, but this is best for this weapon/stage.
- Now your Belladonna wand is ready to upgrade to the Malboro wand. Simply add the right catalyst, in this case it's Uraninite (45.000 Gil at The Motherlode) and you have the Malboro wand!
- If you choose to upgrade the Malboro wand to the Nirvana, then you'll have to do the same thing, but the Malboro wand wil require more XP to level up to it's star level and you will need one trapezohedron as a catalyst when you upgrade any weapon to tier 3 (it's ultimate level)
Different weapons (and tier) all need different numbers of XP to level up to Star lv. and need different catalysts to upgrade them to the next tier. You can calculate the XP online for all weapons & levels at this website:
http://ffxiii-weap-calc.appspot.com/weaponcalc
I did not make this website, I just found it while looking for an XP list for all the weapons. So I don't get any credit for this :)
Then you can calculate which and how many components you need to use to get the XP (after getting the x3 multiplier first ofcourse)
To upgrade weapons & accessories there are different catalysts. You can buy them in the shop either at "The Motherlode" or "R&D Depot" or you can get them as a reward after Mark Missions or a fight. Don't worry about using the wrong catalyst, you can only select the right one and only when your weapon is ready to transform.

* HOW TO GET GROWTH EGG (double CP, = 80.000 per toise!)
- Complete Mark Missions: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14 & 55.
Completing 55 will get you the Growth Egg. Watch out though, this boss is tough! There are good strategies out there, but it pretty much comes down to using the death spell with Vanille (+ malboro wand) on the neochu over and over, almost in the same way you fight the adamantoise. You'll die a lot, but one time it'll stick and you can take your time and finish of the little monsters (summon if your health is low). You can use shrouds to buff your party from the beginning, but deceptisol (to get a pre emptive strike) does NOT work :(
You'll need a chocobo to reach the mission location from the steppe, and you can save before starting the battle, so if you lose you can just reload your save and you haven't wasted you shrouds.
- Once you've got the egg, make sure to use it on Fang (she can take a hit, doesn't need the four accessory slots as much as Vanille & Hope.
EDIT: Fixed a mistake where SEN-SEN-SEN should be SYN-SYN-SYN

Gaiane Ring
Collector Catalog
Hope:

Paradigms used: SAB / RAV / RAV, COM / MED / RAV, SYN / SAB / MED, COM / RAV / RAV, COM / COM / COM.
Each fight takes about 1m 50 s.
All acquired money spend on weapons upgrades and after having them all save your game.
Next, sell all weapons, and go for accessories upgrades (here important are major upgrades for the following items: Salamandrine Ring, Ring Boreal, Nereid Ring
Raijin Ring, Sylphid Ring) .... and dismantling these items for parts, in order to obtain the rare rings. That's it, good luck
Basicly what I did first was looked up the strategy guide / list of accessories and marked what I currently had and what I needed. then bought all the catylist items to upgrade every remaining items and just purchaced the component that you buy for 10,000 Gil.. I forget the name.. its abobe the ultracompactor item that costs 50,000. as most of the accessories will need only 1 or 2 at most to star.
*before upgrading anything I would recommend upgrading teteric Tiara to a star and dismantling it as it will give you 4 others that you will need to upgrade to get. make a seperate save file if you wanna keep these items for future play*
*note* make sure you found every charm in ch11 and didnt forget any elemental rings. that will be the only thing that will determin if you can or cant get this achievement.
Once I finished I Sold every accessory that was not equiped on my main 3 characters, Fang/Light/Vanille ( reason being that was my last achievement and there was no point in playing anymore as theres nothing left to do ) I dismantled a few items that gave good items but not many.
Once that was done I went to Eden, where you fight sacrifice ( white ugly looking things) they have a super high drop rate of perfume ( sells for 12,500 Gil ) and Scarlite ( used for many upgraded weapons. sells for 7k also) you will want to farm these as its easy to get and it saves you 100,000 gil per item as thats the cost.
Once those were done I purchased every weapon so I had a total of 8 for all chars, and upgraded them slowly to star, and once upgraded to second tier, I sold that item getting some gil back so it took less to farm, doing this will speed it up a lot as it took me about 3 hours from no weapons upgraded to all 6 chars having all 8 done.
Now after all that is done and you have every weapon/accessory head to vanilles home where you fixed the robot, he will trigger the achievement for you.
How to farm Gil: I used a fw strats, however the one i found most effective for me was this.
teleport to the springs and start mission 63, then teleport back to the northern part of the stepps, where the behemoth and catlike thing attack eachother, grab the choco and run to the roaming adamantortise and slay him, once done carry on to the mark and slay the Long Gui ( optional I did it cause it was easy with maxed out characters and poison ) from there kill the Mark adamantortoise for another chance of a Platnium Ingot, and a 100% gold nugget ( sells for 60k )
also you can just go to the tower and repeat mission 24 and slay that for a moonblossom seed ( sells for 6k) but the mission and monster is in the sam room making it super fast.
Another method is where I mentioned up top, to go kill sacrifice for perfume / scarlite. just run through and kill all till the save. save game and reload file, then run back and use the teleporter to exit and re-enter. or you can do that if you dont mind running back and forth constantly.
doing all those methods should get you this achievement in no time if you got patience... I got it with a little over 141 hours of game play but only started trying for this achievement after 120 hours of play
Hope this helps anyone that may be stuck somewhere.. Also here is a link of all the weapons and the exp they need to star.. I think theres one up above but its also here on a website. http://herolike.net/blog/?p=937
Enjoy and good luck :)
Thought I’d share it with you all. Hope it helps.

Accessories are in alphabetical order.
Weapons are listed under character name then listed in categories.

**Very Important**
when you upgrade and dismantle things make sure you do not sell any rings or Charms, anything else is good to sell, just make sure you have a list of the items to check off before you sell. the Stradegy guide for the game is good.
Missable.
This is often considered the worst part of the Final Fantasy XIII , and understandably so. As the description states, you must have every weapon and accessory in your inventory at one point or another. You don't really need to worry about this too much in the early game, as it's not hugely missable - the only way you can miss it is if you sell/dismantle one-off items that you haven't upgraded yet. To avoid this, simply don't sell or dismantle any weapons or accessories until you know that you can get everything.
One thing to note when farming certain items is that the Collector's Catalog will increase the common droprate, while the Connoisseur Catalog will increase the rare droprate. Having the latter will help considerably with obtaining Trapezohedrons (if you choose to farm them) and Dark Matters.
In order to actually get the trophy to unlock, you must talk to Bhakti to Oerba Village after obtaining every weapon and accessory. This will of course require you to rebuild Bhakti first - please refer to Pulsian Pioneer on how to do this.
For details on how to achieve this, please see the Final Fantasy XIII Treasure Hunter Guide.
All weapons and accessories only have to have been in your inventory at some point during the game. You do not have to keep them unless they upgrade into something else you need for the achievement (Aqua Ring -> Riptide -> Nereid, for example). Once you think you have/had all the items, speak to Bahkti. (refer to Pulsian Pioneer for the Bahkti mini-quest)
Also, you're not required to upgrade every weapon to it's tier 3 form. Instead, upgrade them all to tier 2 and pick just one for each character that you'd like to be tier 3 (eg: Lightning's Omega Weapon). This will save you a lot of time and money.
The elemental rings can only be obtained two ways; one is from finding them in treasure spheres, the other is dismantling their respective charm. Be warned, if you sell your rings and charms, you have void yourself of this achievement.
The following missions will award you with certain elemental rings.
• Mission 06 - Fulmen ring (tier 2 Spark)
• Mission 11 - Frost ring
• Mission 27 - Blaze ring (tier 2 Ember)
• Mission 39 - Siltstone ring (tier 2 Clay)
• Mission 52 - Gale ring (tier 2 Zephyr)
• Mission 53 - Blaze ring (tier 2 Ember)
• Sulyya Springs [Treasure Sphere] - Riptide ring (tier 2 Aqua)
All the charms are found in treasure spheres on the Archlyte Steppe.
I’ll say right away everything that you find in the game guns and I’m running, it’s not worth selling until you’re convinced that nothing else can be graded from them! For complete control , here is a guide to all guns and beige. The most nerdy achievement in the game. To receive it, you need to have a copy of each weapon in your inventory at least once. The problem is that to upgrade six ULTIMAT guns you will need 6 Trapezohedron catalyst stones. You can get them in two ways: buy (1 piece - 2,000,000 gil) or knock out a 1% drop from Adamantois turtles in the pulse with the Connoissour Catalog equipped and 5 stars - 5%.
Strategy for killing turtles: take Vanilla and make him the leader, then at the beginning of the battle you call Eidalon and the turtle immediately falls down. After this, FULDEBUF and continuously cast Death (preferably with the Beladonna wand equipped). If it doesn’t work, then press repeat and do it again)).
When you are finally lucky and have knocked out one stone, then we go to the supermarket and buy the following:
159 Sturdy Bone
89 Superconductor
2 Particle Accelerator
28 Ultracompact Reactor
1 Scarletite (if not)
Total - 1,507,400 gil
Now upgrade Mistilteinn (Vanilla weapon) with these components in the following order:
36 x Sturdy Bone
50 x Superconductor
1 x Scarletite
36 x Sturdy Bone
2 x Ultracompact Reactor
15 x Sturdy Bone
27 x Superconductor
1 x Trapezohedron
36 x Sturdy Bone
26 x Ultracompact Reactor
36 x Sturdy Bone
2 x Particle Accelerator
12 x Superconductor
After this procedure, the weapon can be maxed out to Nirvana 100 lv. If you take it apart you will get this:
71 x Monstrous Fang
60 x Entrancing Tail
36 x Moonblossom Seed
10 x Tear of Woe
3 x Trapezohedron
Also, to upgrade all the gear you will need several Darck Matere (850,000 gil or drops from blue turtles Schaolon Gui) and Adamantit (only buy 220,000 gil). When you've done everything, go to the robot in the village of Oebra, talk to him and the achievement will pop out.
It also opens a portrait of Fang in EXTRA mode.
