How to unlock the Packing Heat achievement in FINAL FANTASY XVI - Definitive Guide
This Final Fantasy XVI trophy is a bit tricky to earn and you should work on it when you only have Torgal in your party. First, purchase the Heatwave ability from the Phoenix tree and assign it on the Gear & Eikons menu. The ability becomes available after the main quest, A Chance Encounter.
Next, locate a pack of enemies with ranged attacks (Death Blossoms or Vultures work well). There is a pair of Death Blossoms just south of the bridge you repair to reach Eastpool. Take the Eastpool Obelisk to reach them.
During the fight, keep your distance from the enemies and spam to prevent Torgal from attacking them. You may need to get their attention if they are focused on Torgal. When the enemies fire a ranged attack, hold and press the button you assigned Heatwave to. The ability needs to be executed when the projectile is close to you, but not close enough that the combo will result in a dodge. Complete 2 successful Heatwave Counters during a single battle (“Heatwave Counter” will display in the combat text on the right), and the trophy will unlock.

If you're in the endgame, there's a flying eye enemy called "Akashic Plague" up the stairs south of the Ravenwit Walls obelisk in Waloed. It frequently fires two very slow moving projectiles that are very easy to counter. Even with a full party, I was able to get the trophy easily on this enemy!

I unlocked this by accident during the Ahriman bounty quest.
Just use heatwave whenever he shoots his 2 orbs, align yourself in front of the 2 orbs and then use heatwave. Repeat another time and you're done.
Players can find Ahriman in the southeastern part of the Sorrowise area of Martha's Rest. The Ahriman hunt becomes available during the "The Gathering Storm" main story mission.

Got mine from the fallen gaurdian enemy, as i was doing the phoenix gate part of the story. He fires two balls of electrical charge energy and since he had a stagger bar and plenty opportunity's to get this, even torgal and jill in the party.

Easily done in the fight with Benedicta on the roof of the castle in the Headwind chapter, before she transforms. She often attacks with long-range attacks, you need to activate the Heat Wave skill a second before flying at you. And so twice. Just don’t forget to buy the required skill before the battle and insert it into the slot.

It’s even easier to do it on the very first wyvern in the forest, it will be alone and can be done safely. You need to use the skill as soon as the boss casts a spell, since the location is not large, you can immediately reflect it. The wyvern has 2 attacks: when it rushes at you and when it spits poison, it is the poison spitting that needs to be reflected. The enemy uses attacks alternately, so after dodging the buckle, get ready to parry the spell

On the very first wyvern - it's really easiest. If you missed it, you can safely replay the stage (this will be the very first) at the Arete stone. The fight itself will be literally at the beginning. I just recommend that you definitely remove the Subtle Sense ring, if you have one in your equipment.
