How to unlock the Firewatch achievement in Firewatch - Definitive Guide
Spoiler free: You'll leave your tower and head off towards Jonesy Lake where you will discover a hideout that contains number of answers to the mysteries you've discovered over the summer. Following that, you'll be required to evacuate from the forest via the Thorofare Lookout, which is Delilah's lookout. There are a number of routes you can choose for this, and none is particularly difficult. I went back around Jonesy Lake and through Thunder Canyon.
Honestly this won't present any problems if you've managed to get this far, but should you need a more complete (and spoilery) breakdown, there's one here:
Hope this helps :)

This achievement will unlock automatically as part of the story in the game.
Story related, cannot be missed. In order to reach this Day you must have first completed Day 78.
Objectives needed to complete Days 78 and 79:
- Explore the cave
- Find a way out of the cave
- Explore deeper into the cave
- Climb out of the cave and report body
- Pack up belongings
- Follow wave receiver
- Find Evidence of Goodwin
- Hike north to Thorofare Lookout for evacuation
- Aboard the rescue helicopter
Normal Ending:
When you make it to Thorofare Lookout, pick up the radio headset and then have one final conversation with Delilah over the headset. After the conversation, head outside Thorofare Lookout and aboard the rescue helicopter to end the game and roll the ending credits, thus unlock the trophy.
Alternate Ending:
When you make it to Thorofare Lookout, pick up the radio headset and then have one final conversation with Delilah over the headset. After the conversation, head outside Thorofare Lookout and then exit the lookout to look at the rescue helicopter. If you choose to wait about 2 minutes and don't board the rescue helicopter, the helicopter will take off leaving Henry behind. It's assumed that Henry dies from the massive wildfire as the game ending credits will begin rolling, thus unlock the trophy.
After your usual morning conversation, head out of the tower and behind to go back once again to the cave. Now you can unlock the door. Head all the way through the cave, there's only one way to navigate through this area. Eventually after a couple of incidents (including having to clear some rubble) you will be outside. Head forward and up the path and you will find a hideout. You can report in a bunch of items here but what you're after is the packet of pitons on the table. Exit on the opposite side of the hideout and follow the only path, down a couple of drops until you are on the path with the power lines. Keep heading forward and you should find yourself back on the path to the cave. Re-enter the gate in the cave and this time use a piton on the cracked rock when you reach it, allowing you to descend further. Keep following the only path and let the story unfold. Eventually you will find yourself back outside the cave. Call in a report on the radio to finish Day 78.
Day 79 - after initial conversations you will need to follow the Wave Receiver again, and visibility is very low. It will lead you in the general direction of the lake from Day 1, though you will end up veering right (north) a little while before the very first littered campfire you discovered. Just keep following the Wave Receiver until you find an obvious sign to climb. Climb and let the story unfold, you can enter a bunker by interacting with what appears to be a fallen sign and learn more. Whether you do or don't, report everything in to your partner and when you're ready you can head to your final destination. Head back down the rope, and head west to the lake. Turn right (north) and then right again (east) to head all the way back up Thunder Canyon. When you reach the area with the cave, don't go through it -- head left (north) instead, up the path you originally took to investigate the power lines. Just keep following the path highlighted in thick red on your map all the way to the north, towards the point where you received a supply cache on Day 33. Before you get all the way to the cache though, the path forks -- you need to go right and uphill rather than left towards the cache. You'll reach a cable car -- take that and eventually you will be beneath another tower. Climb it, investigate the room as you see fit, and interact with the radio on the desk. Have your conversation, and when it's done head back outside to the helicopter. Get in, and the trophy will be earned during the game's closing credits.
