How to unlock the Shutter Bug achievement in Firewatch - Definitive Guide

This can be completed as early as Day 2. After finding the downed line and heading down the path (headed toward cache 241), you will see a backpack hanging on a tree. Knock it down and grab the items in it. One of the items is a disposable camera. Use up the remaining pictures to unlock your achievement.

This is not unlocking for me, has anyone else had an issue with it?

*Update - Turned my X Box Back on hours later and it was unlocked. Must have been some kind of delay.

The first few times trying this achievement did not work until I held the empty camera open until the achievement popped.

It might have just been coincidental timing, but this unlocked as I was repeatedly pulling the right trigger with zero remaining film. If it is bugged for you, I would give that a shot.

For anyone else having trouble getting this to pop:
I tried it multiple times and it never worked. Then I noticed that my camera screen was kind of glitched out. Specifically, after snapping a photo there was no "rewind" animation and the overlay wasn't coming up again.
After restarting the game, that worked again and would you look at that, the achievement worked as well. I believe that the glitched animation is contributing to it, try a restart to see if that helps.

@Rhogiath : Thanks! This worked!

If anyone else is having trouble: I restarted the game on a new save, played up until Day 2 before crossing the log bridge, and made a manual save before touching the backpack. When I first grabbed the camera the "Rewind Animation" wasn't triggering, so nothing popped. So I force quit the game, reloaded. Grabbed the backpack again, grabbed the camera, the "Rewind Animation" works correctly now~!

For this and other buggy achievements, my found solution: upon the completion of an achievement but it doesn't pop...

Open the Xbox app on your phone. Touch your profile in the bottom right. Then touch Achievements tab and then click on Fire watch. The achievement should unlock in about 5 seconds.

I assume the problem is the game not talking to Xbox servers and checking the game on your app forces it to.

I found a solution for if you'd like to keep film in your camera for the rest of the game.

After you've found the camera in the backpack (see other guides), quit to the main menu and select Load Game. To the right of each saved game you have the option to copy the save to an empty slot. Copy your main save, and load the copy. Empty the camera, quit again, and load up your main save, and voila - you've gotten the achievement right away, and you still have film for story events later in the game.

I just made a manual save with 15 shots on the roll, then shot all pics, after the achievement popped I exited the game, loaded up my save and had the 15 shots available.

This is on the normal path on day 2, after you find the cut wire. As https://www.trueachievements.com/TheFourthHunter.htm said, it's in a backpack in a tree. You can just take pictures of nothing to quickly pop the achievement. Since the game is quite open with very little direction, I thought the location would be helpful.

Important piece of advice that will prevent you from losing new lines of conversation with Delilah. This game is pretty much about how deep this story is,so personally i don´t want to leave any chat between them behind. Don´t take all your pictures right away as mentioned above. Don´t take pictures of nothing just to pop the achievement either. Because just a few minutes later if you trigger the conversation,Delilah will ask you to use the camera at the Teens Camp for the first time (trying to avoid spoilers). At the very end of the game (avoiding spoilers),and again if you trigger the conversation she will ask you to use the camera for the second time. Since i followed the guides above i´ll never know these possible lines, because i had no film in my camera at this point and yes i got very disappointed. So save it for later for a better game experience.

For those wondering, there is no apparent use for the camera. You can take all the pictures right away if you like. You never get to see them. Saving film could potentially change one line of dialogue at the end of the game but it doesn't matter. You can can complete the game either way.

Can only be done in story mode.

As soon as you get the camera (missable - has to be picked up during day 2, in a backback hanging on a tree) press C to use it and just snap as many pictures as you can of anything you want and the achievement should pop.

This trophy can be obtained as early as Day 2. After the conversation with Delilah, both Henry and Delilah will conclude that it was the teen girls' doing of cutting the utility pole wire. Your next objective is to find the teens, the best route you can take is continue following the North trail until you're able to turn around and then head Southwest until you reach Cache Box 241. Along the way, you can find an abandon Hiker Backpack hanging from a tree. Press to swipe at the hanging backpack and then search it for a Disposable Camera and more rope. With the Disposable Camera you can press on the D-pad and then press to take pictures. Using all 18 shots will unlock the trophy. You can take pictures of anything in this game so you can save your final photo of the trophy's unlocking for something else if you wish to.

Below is a photo of where Cache Box 241 is located at:

To gain the "Shutter Bug" trophy in Firewatch, you must first reach Day 2 in the story. This is pretty straightforward but feel free to follow my guides for Days 1 and 2 to get through it.

During Day 2, you will come across a disposable camera as part of the storyline. When you get it, press cn_right to bring up the viewfinder. The trophy requires you to fill the disposable camera by using up all of the remaining shots, indicated by the number in the bottom right of the viewfinder. You can do so at any time by simply spamming cn_R2 until the number hits zero. It's worth bearing in mind that some unique dialogue occurs later in the game if you are still able to take photos, but it's not particularly relevant. Just make sure you use up all of the remaining reel before you complete Day 79 and the trophy will be yours.

Just take pictures until the film runs out, with the last frame you will receive this Trophy. Your photos do not affect the plot, but simply add to the atmosphere of the game.

The pictures add atmosphere after the passage. During the credits, the entire printed film will be shown (including your photographs).

You will find a camera in Brian Goodwin's backpack, which in the story is hanging on a branch.

There is no camera in the free game. So if you didn’t take enough pictures, load the last save file (the game makes it in front of Delilah’s tower), film the tower, the toilet from all angles, and Delilah’s room. There’s not much else to shoot there, but the main thing is to waste the film.
