How to unlock the Love Turts achievement in Firewatch - Definitive Guide

I tried the above solutions, but had no luck. Some people mentioned that the turtles were random, but I can't confirm that is true. All I know is that what I did worked for me the first time.

I went into Free Roam, which can be accessed from the main menu and selecting "Special Features" > "Thorofare Free Roam". Select a save slot and proceed into free roam.

From there, I woke up in my tower, "Two Forks", ready to rock. I followed the video below from BitBytes on YouTube, which I take no credit for and thank him for helping me get this achievement.

If you're in Free Roam, fast forward to get the map location which is shown at 0:38 and then follow the video to unlock it. If you are playing the story, then follow the directions on Day 1, as per the video.

----
If you leave a negative vote, please leave a comment so I can improve the solution.

Shitty. Perhaps it was patched? Maybe try all the XB1 tricks; hard reset, deleting game cache, uninstalling/re-installing game or praying to Phil Spencer.

This one was quite delayed in popping. I was nearly half of the way back to the tower when it finally unlocked.

It would of been easier, if someone had posted a pic, since the explantion is horrible (Including in the walkthrough). From the Supply Box, walk to the creeks. turn toward & walk to the lake. Facing the Lake, to the right is a rock next to a Tree, right on the edge of the lake. The turtle is there.

Did this on day 77. Turt wasn't there at first. Saved, loaded and there he was. Adopted and popped.

I'm at the spot but the turtle's not there.

EDIT: FOUND IT! It was the first location in the video posted in the comments section. The video really should be part of the solution.

If you're on Day 2 and the turtle isn't on the rock by the cache box, exit the game without saving and it'll spawn you back in either home base or in the cave then, travel back to the spot and it should be there.

I know I'm at day 1 and wandered a bit. I press continue and I was near this supply box that's locked by a code, by the small water stream. I pass the box and see 1 rock. Nothing. Then 2 meters below another rock, with the turtle on it! I pressed adopt and the cheevo popped. No dialog or nothing. It took me twice longer to write this than to earn this achvment!!

For this and other buggy achievements, my found solution: upon the completion of an achievement but it doesn't pop...

Open the Xbox app on your phone. Touch your profile in the bottom right. Then touch Achievements tab and then click on Firewatch. The achievement should unlock in about 5 seconds.

I assume the problem is the game not talking to Xbox servers and checking the game on your app forces it to.

I had a little trouble finding the turtle at 1st so once I finally found it I thought I would post a video to make it easier for others looking for the turtle. I made the video while playing Day 2 of the story. I was at the part where you have to make your way to the southwest towards some smoke trying to find some teenage girls. At the start of the video, I'm at cache 309. At the start of the video I show the map to show where I was starting and then again at the end to see where I found the turtle. Approach the turtle and press cn_RT. Then press and hold cn_B to adopt the turtle.

According to the commentary, there is a second location for Turt Reynolds by the lake, further down if you stick to the edge past the girls.

If anyone is having trouble finding the turtle like me, if you start a new game, the turtle locations change. I checked about 5 different areas and didn't find the turtle. I started a new game and the turtle spawned at Jonesy Lake. It wasn't there on my previous gamesave.

Found the turtle , adopted him but no achievement , after that it is in your watchtower in a carton box next to your bed , pickles it up again , adopted it but again , no achievement. Not even done unlocking , am I missing something crucial?

I'm also having trouble with achievements not unlocking. Played first two days, including adopting the turtle and nothing. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening or how to fix?

If the turtle is not there, go right in front of turtle location. Then,

Pause-->Save--->Load ---> Should appear

There is another spot I discovered in Day 2. When investigating the power lines. At supply cache 302, turn directly around and walk 5 yards and there is a rock with a turtle on it. This is also directly below rock that has the power pole where you can see the downed power line. It is very easy to see the turtle because there is nothing else in this little clearing except a flat rock with a turtle on it!

This can be completed as early as Day 2. When you get to the Aspen Grove at the southern side of the map, look to the north while in the grove for a set of tall pine trees with a rock in the middle. The turtle is on the rock. Walk up to it, pick it up, and hold B to adopt it.

Actually it can be completed as early as day 1. Right after the encounter with the skinny dipping pyromaniacs, if you cross to the north & follow the lake around, there's a tree near lockbox 305. There's a turtle at the base of the tree.

EVen earlier than the skinny dipping. Head East from your tower and you find the route you came in on blocked, little turtle sitting right there.

Day 1. I confirm what @Naberios said.
Find the waterstream, a code locked supply box.
The turtle is 2m away, 2 rocks farther.

I found a turtle on day 2 right underneath the downed powerline, about 5 feet from supply cache 302. Wasn't out of the way at all.

There is a supply cache by the river north of the boyscout camp in the SE part of the map, North of the controlled burn and the spot where the firefighters were camped out. Across the river from the cache and a tiny bit to the west is a long rock which looks to be about 15' long. The turtle is on the west end of the rock. Pick it up and hold B to adopt.

Just to let everyone know, there's at least one other way to adopt a turtle. To the north of cache 306 on the part of the trail after crossing the river at Thunder Canyon. It was right on the side of the cliff. Let me know in the comments if you need more specific information on where.

Start a free roam game and head down to the lake where the teens are skinny dipping in story mode. Proceed to the cache box to the north of there and follow the small stream of water down to the lake. To the right on a rock is a small turtle. Pick it up and press E to adopt it and the achievement will unlock.

This trophy can only be obtained during Day 2. After passing the Cripple Gulch, make your way to Cache Box 309 and loot the items inside and be sure to update your Map information. Once you updated your Map, head towards the west to find a turtle on a rock between two pine trees. Pick the Turtle up with and then press and hold to adopt it, thus unlocking the trophy.

Below is a photo of where the turtle is located at:

If you can't find the above Turtle, then try looking for one of the others (credit to rus199410 for the video):

To gain the Love Turts trophy in Firewatch, you must first play through the game's prologue. Just follow all of the on-screen prompts, keep pushing forward and eventually you will reach your firewatch tower. Sit through the conversation on the radio to get to Day 1.

When the day starts, talk on the radio until you spot fireworks going off in the forest. Head downstairs and you'll want to trek straight ahead from the foot of the stairs, west, to the "Cache 306" labelled on your map. Use code 1-2-3-4 and retrieve the rope.

Keep heading west (when the path forks, the left is fastest). You'll eventually come to a scree slope and be prompted to use your rope. After an incident with the rope, continue west. Push forward past a campsite and through to the lake. Deal with the incident as you see fit, then head north towards "Cache 305". After dealing with the cache, go to the small creek directly north and follow it west towards the lake. At the end of the creek you'll see a turtle on a rock. Press cn_L2 to pick it up, and hold cn_O to keep it and earn your trophy.
