You are awarded a golden larvae for completing each level's optional objectives, as seen at the end of each level you complete (which you can also check on Level Select).

The 3 objectives are to complete the level in a moderately fast time, finish the level with a full biomass bar (you collect biomass from killing bugs) and to collect all bug eggs. You do not have to complete all 3 in a single run so it's recommended you go for all biomass and bug eggs first, then do your speed runs afterwards.

To collect a full bar of biomass, you have to kill near enough all the enemies in each level and collect the green orbs that they drop. Some enemies you are unable to kill, but only shock with the zapper. Overly large bugs cannot be killed, as well as a bug you'll come across that tries to push you off the ledges so do not waste time hitting these with your swatter.

Bug eggs look like white orbs, and are spread across the whole level, to which you are required to collect every single one. Be sure to go through each level slowly and cautiously, as there are alternative routes/openings in every level that have clusters of bug eggs at the end. An egg cluster contains 10 eggs.

You are not actually given a 'Best Time' that you have to beat, therefore I have listed the times I set on my play-through that awarded a golden larvae. None of the times are overly difficult to achieve, as long as you don't waste much time respawning from multiple deaths. The times are as follows:
