How to unlock the Swimming With Dolphins achievement in Flying Tigers: Shadows Over China - Definitive Guide

This one was a bit of a pain.

Select Free Flight
Scroll down through the Allied planes until you see the SC-1 "Seahawk" and select it.
Select Phi Phi Islands from the Select Location Screen
Set the Duration to Unlimited

Once the game loads, gently glide down to the water then decrease power. You are trying to land on the central pontoon under the plane. If you turn and one of the wing floats hit the water you'll explode.

Once you have landed, power down the engine with cn_LT. You should head dolphins squeaking shortly after.

This was the part that caused me problems. Usually, you will see the dolphins jumping out of the water in front of you but the Achievement won't pop. Instead, I found I had to accelerate to get close to them.

Rather than go for the dolphins though, I recommend waiting for the sperm whale to get the Waiting for the Sperm Whale Achievement which doesn't need you to move. The sealife rotates between dolphin, sperm whale and Orca (killer whale) then they loop so you get multiple chances at the dolphins.

When accelerating to the dolphin, don't turn with cn_LSl and cn_LSr as it'll likely cause you to explode. Just go straight and the Achievement should pop.

After coming to a full stop and approaching the dolphin didn’t work after a half dozen tries I got it by landing and keeping my throttle at 5-10% so I never stopped moving and the dolphin popped up close to me and the achievement popped right away.
