How to unlock the Top Division Underdog achievement in Football Manager 2021 Xbox Edition - Definitive Guide

start new game > challenge > top division underdog

select iceland league > pick fjolnir as your team

when your game has loaded, go to
staff > responsibilities > set all to backroom staff
fm button top right > preferences > continue game time out > instant

iceland season is only 22 games and i purposely lost in cup games so i could focus on league only as this is what the challenge is based off. try to win most of your games, use instant result, save and load if needed. I completed the challenge on my 15th game of the season in 4th position in the league

Using the above method, which 'instant result' scenario did you aim for? I haven't saved and loaded yet as just wanted to see if attainable without doing so.

most if not all the games i used default match plan for instant result...

I tried following this too and it didn't come close to working. The guide reads like you didn't need to take much manual control of tactics etc so that's what I tried... Lost the first 10 games in a row. I started again thinking maybe you just need a couple of early wins for momentum... Lost the first game 10 times in a row. Either RNG has it in for me or the guide is missing something?

can't say i really tinkered too much with tactics, i basically just chose a team that weren't expected to finish high in the table and made sure they win most of their matches using instant result and saving/loading if needed. maybe more recent updates have made challenges harder? haven't played the game in a while

Using Fjolnir worked for me. 4-2-3-1 Gegenpress, positive mentality. Did quick pick and instant result for every game with "play for the win" as the match plan. Challenge completed and achievement popped after only 16 of the 22 league games. P16 W10 D3 L3.

As APSWFC1867 said, using Fjolnir with Gegenpress, positive mentality in a 4-2-3-1 worked perfectly for me. Saved before each game and reloaded where necessary, including cup games. Be sure to select your strongest in each position, instant result and ‘Go for the win’. Your back room staff will manage to secure some good loan deals for you which can make this easier. Managed to get Record Signing, Full Faith, Beating Expectations, Top Division Underdog, Do The Double, Invincible, Unlock No Sacking, Unlock No Loan Restrictions, The Boss & Unlock All Players Interested on this one game save. 😁

Yea anyone that's having problems with this just simple save before match. Run match with quick pick and play for the win. If you lose reload. Repeat.

Hearts in Scotland are a good shout for this challenge and achievement.

Relegated last season but with a squad in the game good enough to finish top 6 in the Premiership.

4-2-3-1 Gegenpress should give relative ease against everyone other than Celtic and Rangers.

You should be able to complete the achievement before the league splits in two, otherwise, when the league splits in two you cannot drop below 6th position assuming you are in the top half.
