How to unlock the Going Places achievement in Football Manager 2022 Xbox Edition - Definitive Guide
To request a new stadium go to finances > make board request > stadium > build new stadium.
This achievement can be somewhat annoying as it isn't really within your control.
Avid FM'ers will no doubt already know most of what I have written but for people who may be new or not familiar with football manager the following tips may help you try and influence the board's decision.
- Firstly, you are going to want to choose a team that hasn't recently had a stadium or expansion built in the last 30 ish years (Teams such as Spurs, West Ham or Arsenal are very unlikely to work, Everton are also in the process of moving I believe).
- Personally I would avoid behemoth teams that already have a massive reputation and fanbase (Man Utd, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern etc) unless they don't already have an adequate stadium. (I kept getting extensions with Man Utd until Old Trafford was over 100,000 capacity).
- Overachieving with smaller teams that don't have a new shiny stadium seems to be a far safer bet.
So now you've got a team in mind, the key to this is gaining reputation and fanbase. To do that you are going to need to do a couple of things:
- Win A LOT! - Winning trophies and league titles are going to do you no harm and make the process a hell of a lot faster as this will do two things:
1. Grow the reputation of the club and therefore increase your fanbase so that your club sells more season tickets, merchandise and all that jazz.
2. Put some money into the bank. Stadiums are very expensive so a successful team that is operating at a profit is far more likely to get approved.
- Overachieve - Winning the league and Champions League in particular will do wonders for your reputation and fanbase.
- Keep an eye on your finances - If you are overspending or the club is in massive debt then it is highly unlikely that a new stadium will be approved until you sort those finances out.
A few final things to note
- An expansion to a stadium does not count unfortunately.
- Don't get too excited if the board approve your request as the council can and probably will reject your planning.
It's difficult to put a timescale on how many seasons this could take as there are so many factors in play but good luck and hope this helps.

Also, if this is your last achievement and you're a little bit desperate for I am, you can purchase the Build Stadium unlockable from the store. When you apply it, the team will automatically start building a stadium and the achievement will unlock. This is how I got it after doing everything else.
