If you are winning manager of the year in game, but your achievement progress is stuck, turn Achievement tracker ON.
Long version
After what seems an eternity this pain in the arse cheevo popped! During the 30 seasons I apparently only got 5 manager of the year awards. I know for a fact there were more but for some reason the tracker just stuck at 5. I'd see the message in the inbox but no achievement progression.
Using the other guide I did 3 seasons as Man City. Won every game and in game was given manager of the year. Did the achievement progress, nope?
I did the same, won every game in the Mexico league, Hong Kong league, USA league, Icelandic league... same thing happened.
Safe to say I played a tonne of leagues, winning every game but nothing.
As the Scottish league gives 2 manager of the year awards, that was my next attempt. Not sure why but I turned the tracker on so I could see if the bar moved. First season, won every game and the bar did move!
I've played this game for 609 hours with the tracker off and the second I turn it on this achievement starts progressing.
If people are experiencing the same, get that tracker turned on.

Just a tip, play as Celtic (or "Rangers" if you are that way inclined) in Scotland and you can get 3 manager of the year awards at a time. You can pretty much quick pick and instant result your way to winning the league with Celtic (and probably "Rangers"). I made sure to save scum and win every game, got all three awards each year. Awards are players manager of the year, football writers manager of the year and usual manager of the year.

I played 4 years at Rangers winning every game domestically and never winning the Players Managers of the Year so only 8/10 now. I was runner up for the first 3 years and then not even in the top 3 last season.

Just as a note to people who may be confused why they win everything and sometimes don't win manager of the year award - I believe the manager of the year is for league only. So if you go unbeaten in the league you will win manager of the year.
Case in point - In last year's version I won everything with Man City for the first 6 years with Man City to reach top of the hall of fame. One year I didn't win the manager of the year award - I had lost a few games in the league. For the next 5 years I just went unbeaten in the league and went out of the cups to save time and won manager of the year every time.
This year's is the same, just go unbeaten in the league and you can afford to go out the cups and you will get manager of the year each time.
It is possibly quicker in smaller leagues, but after doing 5-6 years winning everything I just wanted to continue with City. Takes about 2 hours per season if you are quick, to go unbeaten in the Premier league with a good team.

I’ve won every game for 14 years with PSG, both domestically, continentally, and internationally and only won the manager of the year only 6 times. It seems in the French top league the award will go to the overachieving team’s manager every time, like if a team was just promoted and finished 6th or 7th, they will always win the award. Just a heads up to anyone thinking about trying this with the French league.
