Holiday mode definitely doesn’t void the achievement, did it yesterday with Man City in the EPL.

Unless there has been a patch since I posted this, then it definitely did. It always has done and did for us who played the game at the start. If someone else can confirm it no longer voids the achievement, I'll update the guide.
Did you go on holiday for three whole seasons? Holiday mode is usually limited to 30 days per save file when going for other achievements and this one, as I discovered when I spoke to the developers on their forums. This is why holiday mode is advised against.
Some evidence of it being unable to unlock whilst using holiday mode in previous editions:
