How to unlock the Play Your Way achievement in For Honor - Definitive Guide

Effects, Emotes and Executions are all set in the Heroes Customization menu. Non-default effects, emotes and executions can be purchased for varying amounts of Steel, and if you have the season pass or deluxe pack or enough points in Ubisoft club you will only need to buy an execution and an emote since the sunbeam effect is available already.

Without the pass or deluxe pack or buying the sunbeam effect from the Ubisoft Club, you'll need at minimum 13,000 Steel to buy the 5,000 execution, 3,000 emote and 3,000 effect.

Please comment if you're going to vote negatively so I know what you think is wrong and can fix it. Thanks!

Not a neg vote, but you can also get a free effect (sunbeam) from Ubi Club.

I've equipped non-default items for each of them and I haven't gotten the achievement yet. Is this achievement known to be glitchy?

Not that I am aware of. You're certain you've changed all three (1 effect, 1 execution, 1 emote) on a single hero?

As of latest patch, June 2018 the achievement still don't unlock on this.
I have Gold edition and did the same on several Heroes, but still didn't pop.

Make sure you have equipped the emote/execution/effect , after unlocking them.

Also, if you have trouble make sure to change all 3 in one instance, perhaps on a fresh second load out. I.e. if you've previously bought one or bought them in stages, instead of changing just the last one change all 3 in quick succession, and back out of customize.

Effects, Emotes, and Executions can simply be bought with steel in the customization tab in the hero menu. All you have to do is go to the hero you choose and press R1 when in the customization menu. Remember, these must be bought for the same hero.

For this trophy first you need to save some Steel. The cheapest Execution costs 5,000 Steel, the cheapest Emote costs 3,000 Steel and the cheapest Effect costs 3,000 Steel.

You can save some Steel if you unlock the Sunbeam idle Effect from the Ubisoft Club in the Rewards section. It costs 50 Ubisoft points but you will save 3,000 Steel.

Once you have enough Steel, from the Main Menu go to Customize, Heroes then Abilities, here you can buy the desired equip you need. After having a new Effect, Emote and Execution the trophy should pop.

See this video if you need help.

From the Main Menu select Customize, Heroes, your desired Hero, then Customize. Press to go into the Abilities tab. From here you’ll need to select and purchase a new Execution, Emote and Effect that isn’t the default one.

The cheapest of each category to start off will be 5,000 Steel for Execution, 3,000 Steel for the Emote and 5,000 Steel for the Effect. So in total you’ll need at least 13,000 Steel for this achievement.

If you are apart of the Ubisoft Club you can save yourself some Steel here. You can unlock the Sunbeam Idle Effect for either faction that will be located in the Rewards section. It will cost you 50 Ubisoft points, but you’ll end up saving yourself 3,000 Steel.

It is enough to buy one finishing move, one emotion and animation (if you have a gift from ubisoft, you can choose it, it also counts) and put all this on your hero, then you go to the menu and the trophy is yours.

PS Minimum number of points spent - 8000

Perhaps a bug, but it was enough for me to buy only the finishing blow. I took the animation free from Ubisoft, simply swapped the emotions and bought an additional strike for 5000. Profit! Give it a try.
