Don't know if anyone can confirm this or not. But I think the Gnomes are like other Quest collectibles, where if someone else destroys is, you also get credit for it. Was in a mission and someone else must have found a Gnome and destroyed it as I did not find or break any Gnomes in the mission, and when the mission ended, the achievement popped for me back at the loot screen.

I can confirm that the destruction of Gnomes is similar to other Quest items: everyone in a mission gets credit, regardless of who destroyed the Gnome. This achievement just popped for me and I did not destroy any Gnome during that mission.

Not to be confused with gnome busts, they have color and are holding a lantern. They sometimes give active powercells upon destruction. The best place to get multiple is the toy store that sometimes spawns in city zones.

There are also plenty in garden centres that pop up in cities. I'm pretty sure I unlocked this in a level where I didn't destroy any, so I think this one may also progress when other players in your game destroy them.

I had a daily quest to destroy 5 of these and beat that quest without destroying a single one. So, I'd have to agree that this is a group based achievement.

After v5.0 update on July 2018, Garden Gnomes are basically everywhere in Canny Valley, either in the Route 99 or the Desert map. They can be found around buildings and roof. Probably 10~20 per mission.

The trophy is easy, but tedious - on all maps (often in gardens and garages, flower shops) there are ceramic gnomes that you need to look for (often they are inconspicuous). We just destroy them - nothing falls from them, they themselves are simple destructible objects.

Sometimes in daily quests there is a task to destroy gnomes; it will be displayed on the map with an exclamation mark if you are nearby. This way you can at least roughly understand where else you can look for them.

In Stonewood, a mission with a rocket launch, there is a flower shop with a lot of gnomes
