How to unlock the World Explorer achievement in Fortnite - Definitive Guide

For this achievement you need to completely explore an area 1,500 times. that's a lot.
While playing missions you will notice there are notifications popping up saying 25%, 50%, and 75% explored. after that you will get a badge for exploration, this means you have completely explored the area. do this 1,500 times and the achievement should be yours.

Successful missions are victories, not defeats.

Since the 3.0.0 update you can now use a hoverboard to scoot around the edge of the map in no time!

Thumbs up for providing the link to the site. Forgot what the URL was, and now I don't have to try looking it up :)

Yes, but you'll first have to do the quest "Want to Build a Hoverboard?" which you'll only unlock after doing the main quest "Stonewood Home Base Defense 5".

If you go to the 'challenges' tab under quest logs you can track the long grind achievements progress.

Do you have to beat the missions or can you be defeated? I know it says successful, I’m just want to know for sure

Just finished this you need to do the outside of the map in zones and some of the inside filling in maps you can track your progress by pinning it in your challenge section of your quest's be warned its very time consuming

To obtain this difficult and time consuming trophy, you will need to go around the map of any mission type (excluding smaller event maps) 1500 times.
The game will indicate how explored the map is when it is 25% explored 50% explored 75% explored and finally when it is 100% explored you will earn the "explorer" badge.
Joining a mission when the badge has already been earned however will grant you no progress, only the people in the game when said badge is obtained will get the progress.
I recommend doing this with other people as doing this solo will take much longer, if you do not have anyone to play with there is an option called "play with others" in any area (stonewood, plankerton, canny valley, and twine peaks) just press "quick play" this will pear you up with some people quite quickly.
There are some fast missions, but there also some very slow/bad missions that I recommend avoiding.
The fast missions are resupply, eliminate and collect, and rescue the survivors (rescue the survivors can be completed without the timer hitting 0, you just need to save exactly 15, 6 for the mission and 9 bonus)
Another mission that can be done quite quickly if you have a team is destroy the encampments, I think there are 9 in total that you have to defeat for the mission to end early.
The really slow/bad missions are repair the shelter, deliver the bomb, build the radar grid, any fight the category 3 or 4 storm, and refuel the homebase.
I recommend doing this in plankerton as a lot of trade spammers go to stonewood, hope this helps, good luck

To add to this, while Repair the Shelter is possibly a slower mission, the act of searching for the modules will almost always get the exploration badge.

I recommend pinning the quest so you can see when the explored zones counter increases.

To avoid trade spammers, you can play Ventures, but it has the downside that you can't combine it with the Plays Well with Others trophy.

An area is considered explored when we receive an explorer icon during the game.
We can miss the icon drop when during the game we go to the construction, crafting or any other menu. While in the menu, we will not see the icon drop out, but it is still counted. Sometimes the explorer icon simply does not appear.
When we see an almost completely open map, but the icon is not shown. You can check if you received it. To do this, go to the menu of the current game, which we call by briefly pressing the touchpad of our gamepad.

We completely explore the map 100%, for which we receive a badge in the Explorer mission. We do this 1500 times. If your allies run around the map and open it the same way, then everything will just work out faster. It also counts if only allies open a card (and you, for example, extract resources or cost afk)
