How to unlock the Horizon Fan achievement in Forza Horizon 2 - Definitive Guide
To get this achievement you will have to play 25 championships. Each championship has 4 races, except for the first which has only 3. Therefore, you will need to play 99 races to get this achievement. Since each race is around 2-3 minutes, his will take you anywhere between 3-4 hours to complete, not including driving to each event and the festival after every 3 championships. Because of this I would recommend getting the perk which allows you to fast travel anywhere

and I can confirm that Storm Island DOES count towards this. At least somewhat.
I've been exclusively playing Storm Island for the past 10 hours (trying to complete all 30 championships there) and I've seen this achievement go up with it and I have an idea.
My counter says 84% (which equals 21 championships)
Now I've only completed 15 championships in the main game BUT I've completed exactly 21 championships in Storm Island.
That leads me to believe that the game keeps both numbers separated, but whatever number is higher will be used for the achievement.
Might also explain why anthony2690 is/was stuck on 88%.
He completed so many Storm Island championships (using my logic that would be 22 at that time) that the counter wouldn't increase when he completed 3 more championships in the original, because he completed 19 or less in the main game, which means the 22 from Storm Island would still be higher.
EDIT: Now the achievement popped with 25 completed Strom Island Championships.

I think the Storm Island championships count towards the total too, my progress is at 96% now and I only complete 17 of the original ones.
I read none of this counts for the entire 168 championships one though.
