How to unlock the We Meet Again! achievement in Forza Horizon 2 - Definitive Guide

Boosting:
I'm not sure if there is a way of boosting this, but this is the non-boost way how I got it this night.

Update from erod550:
Boosting seems impossible because you can only do Showdowns against other players. If you are offline the Showdown option will not be available. Also if you go to a Car Meet while in a private match it throws you in with the general public so as far as I can tell you cannot just do a Showdown against your friends to boost unless you get lucky on the matchmaking.

Intro / Prerequisites:
This is an online achievement. There's no option to start a showdown in single player. You can go for this achievement once you have access to all six car meets (which means having progressed far enough in the single player I guess).

How I did it / General strategy:
I'm not sure what triggers it, but after some time waiting at the car meet you can issue a challenge for a showdown via X button, or press X to join if someone else initiated it. If at least two players joined, a point to point race will start after the countdown.

Cars of any class can join, but lower classes get a head start of the higher classes. So for 5 out of the races, I used a A (800) 2011 Subaru WRX STI with Weight Reduction, Tires, Turbo and some other performance upgrades, so I focused mainly on handling.

Having a head start of the S1 or higher cars and a car that handles well (so no bigger crashes) the only competition I had was the other A and B class cars. The faster cars mainly could not use their high speed because of the track layouts. For one race (Nice) it took some tries, for the others it was quite easy. I would consider myself averagely skilled, so it's possible to win one race if you keep at it.

Saint Martin drag:
For the Saint-Martin race (a drag race) you need a fast (If possible X (999) or high S2) car with fast acceleration and top speed, and with my Henessy Venom GT it was possible after a few tries when I got a slower opponent. Your best bet would be a Maserati Tipo 61 (Barn Find), at least they have won every Saint-Martin race when one of those was involved (either fully upgraded or max S1 to try head start).
theMAYFLOWA pointed out that manual shifting helps to gain the few seconds you might need to win, so give it a try if you are losing to faster opponents.

Other tips:
- You can leave, wait 1-2 miinutes and rejoin the car meet to get some other opponents. This is interesting if either nobody joins the showdown or if someone you can't beat joins again and again.
- After winning one you can fast travel to the next one.

Quitters and disconnects:
- I thought winning against quitters counts as well. There was one race where an opponent left mid race and another where the opponent left when the race loaded and I ended up alone on the grid. I finished both and proceeded and the achievement popped. (I'm not 100% sure about this because I had one win before trying this but I think that was at a meet where I did not encounter a quitter.)
- Eurydace reported he finished against a quitter and did not receive credit.
- Lavindathar reported he got credit against a quitter.
- Getting disconnected after winning while waiting for the race to end does not count towards the achievement (thx CTM AudiRS6 for pointing this out)
It might be best to follow your progress percentage on the XBox One achievement app and check after these cases. Please report in the comments what you find out!

Hope this helps, if you have questions feel free to ask.

On the Subaru, I'll post some info when I'm able to play again, which will be on Tuesday.
But apart from those three mentioned updates the rest is optional just to fill up to 800 rating. Less will also be fine (like 792 or whatever you end up with). It also doesn't have to be the Subaru but some A class car that you can handle well. That was just the example that worked for me.
But if it helps I'll post some more info when I get back into the game.

Just won one at Montellino, and it disconnected from servers while waiting for the last person to cross the line. Didn't count towards the achievement. Did another and lost, and it didn't disconnect. Did a third and won, and it disconnected. May want to wait on this for them to fix the server issues.

Discover all meant being able to access all, so you should be fine. Please report how it works out for you. Until then I will change the wording because I think it should be possible anyway.

Regarding the bug itself, I have not encountered or heard of it until now.

I used the Hennesey Venom for the drag race. It wasn't quite fast enough - I was losing by less than a second over and over, so I switched to manual shifting. It's a straightaway for the drag race, so you only hit B a few times, but I won right away afterwards.

This solution is fantastic. Used the A800 Subaru WRX STI for all car meets except Saint Martin and it really works wonders. The head start is really a great help and makes it damn hard for the faster cars to catch up later on. If you drive a clean race you should win with this strategy (only problem could be someone who tries exactly the same strategy, lol). I got all of mine first try with this.
The Saint Martin drag race was trickier, but with an upgraded S1 Maserati barn find it worked great, because if your S1 you'll also get a head start against S2 and X class cars and usually they won't catch up (at least they didn't for me).
Thumbs up from me, for a great solution, thanks for posting this!

Alpha Romeo 33 Stradale for drag. Top of the camera leaderboard at the airport. Clip of upgrades, tunes, and races.

For the other 5 I did all on first try with A800 VW Golf R MK6. Good launch, acceleration, and handling compared to the 5-6 other A800 cars I have.

I've been getting my butt kicked on the drag strip by a super juiced up Lotus Eleven - I'm not sure exactly what upgrades it has but it's rated 10 for speed and acceleration.

Might be worth checking out if you can't buy the Alfa Stradale or can't find the Tipo 61. The Lotus is pretty cheap too at 126K credits.

By Hirsute Dave on 28 Oct 2014 08:55
All right this seems to work (bloody well too!) for the Lotus Eleven:

- Convert to the Racing V8, Twin-Turbo and AWD
- Max the rear tire width
- Racing gearbox and clutch
- Max engine upgrades

Gets you a PI of about 850, and from a standing start you'll be hitting around 410-420 kph going through the speed trap at the end of the runway. Just don't expect to stop laugh

I've shared the tune (as "DragMasher") if anyone feels lazy and wants to earn me a few credits.

Basically I asked him to let me win for the cheevo and I would stop giving him a shit opponent. He let me drive on by and I left him to the tuner massive!!! lol. Thought It was worth mentioning that some of the tuner race whores are quite possibly cheevo hunters too and there's nothing wrong with asking nicely lol!

Yes, you can edit the solution to 100% confirm you get this when they quit. I just won my last race and the guy stopped at 70% and it popped. To the guy that thought it doesn't count, maybe they quit after it qualified a race in the meet, but before you got "out to the track".

Im having an issue where by my 'car meets discovered' stat under stats/discovery is stuck at 4/6, despite having been to all. Has anyone heard of this, or know how I can fix it? Is there any way to check which meets are 'locked'?

I can enter all the meets, so hopefully I can still get this achievement. Although, with you saying that you need to discover all six first, maybe I'm screwed.

By Lavindathar on 09 Oct 2014 11:45
In my experience, if you are in a game party with friends, then enter a car meet together, to start with you won't be in the same "lobby" - but if you wait a little bit - seems to be around a minute or so, then the other player and yourself end up in the same lobby.

If you then start a showdown then your friend can accept, and it is possible to boost - this doesn't prevent others from joining... So not 100%... But might help some people if they are struggling.

By Danlance on 11 Oct 2014 17:48
yes it could be boosted if you are lucky clap . join a meet with a friend (after a private game or with your friend in a group) : join a race with your friend. if you lose against others players, join another race. with chance you can join race with your friend only, it happened to me after 3 oct 4 races.
for drag race: the 33 straddle with a X tune is a good way
Good luck

The Saint Martin drag is bs now because everyone just uses 999 rated Toyota Supra Fast and Furious editions (which are free btw and cost about 50k to fully upgrade). I legit had to be in the showdown with one other person and drive him off the track into an obstacle to win.

As for the rest of them, pretty easy. I was gifted two Lamborghini Huracan's for playing the first Horizon (I believe, was a long time ago), and they're fantastic so I used them to win the other 5 events.

If you're going for this achievement, get these done asap. Since this is GwG, there are a lot of new players using either slow cars, or cars that are way too high a rating (S2 or X). Couple that with their inexperience and it will give you an incredible advantage if you use an S1 car. I know I did one of them and I was the lowest ranked with my S1 Huracan and won by about 10 seconds simply because the other players couldn't handle their fast cars, and S1 has enough of a head start over the S2's and X's in my opinion.

tl;dr: buy '69 Ford Mustang Boss or Ford F-100, upgrade to A, with AWD.

---

As horstwayne said in his solution, apart from the Saint Martin showdown, it is best to take lower rated cars for this achievement, because you get a huge headstart if racing against higher tier cars. I stumpled upon two great class A car for this: the Ford F-100 and the Ford Mustang Boss.

The Ford F-100 is part of the free launch DLC and can be bought for 0 Credits after installing the free DLC. The stock car is in class D. What you want to do with it, is to search for a specific upgrade setting:

Class A
All-wheel drive
around 400 kW

or upgrade the car yourself with those specs. What you get is an absolute rocket for its class with decent handling as long as you use your breaks properly and don't break to late all the time. It is rather easy to beat cars without headstart while S and above cars won't get near you.

I got the achievement with the F-100 but others had more success using another really good car with supreme handling and good power, which is the '69 Ford Mustang Boss

I upgraded mine myself with AWD, weight reduction, better brakes and so on to 317 kW @ 1300kg. There are A Mustangs with much higher power available but I do not know how they drive. I uploaded my upgrade settings with the title "Showdown Mustang" under this gamertag "s3bb86".
I am no pro driver whatsoever, but it is possible for me to get several top 100 placements in class A rival events with my mustang.

edit 18. nov. '14: switched around some sentences for better readability.

I easily did this achievement with a Abarth Fiat 131 1980, went and upgraded it to D 500. The game gives you such a big head start that you'll beat any s/x classes you face. (kinda lame if you ask me) For the the drag race I used the Alfa romero Stradale with an upgrade you can buy called "272" or something. You'll wreck anything you face except the pros with the same car/mod using manual (it's actually fun going up against them). Just thought I'd share my strategy. Thanks for the info.

Thank you so much for your solution. I bought both the F-100 and the Mustang, but I only upgraded the mustang using the tuning that you uploaded. I suck at this game and I knocked out 4 of them first try (I had already completed the drag race on my own) and After a few tries on sisteron where I kept crashing, I finally had a great run and blew away that same competition. Thanks again for the guide!

I didn't use the F-100 for the drag race, but downloaded your tuning setup for the Mustang and it worked great for the rest. I only lost one race while going for this achievement. I was also glad you get the win if your opponents quit. 4 out of 6 of my wins came from my opponents quitting due to the Mustang setup being so easy to blow them away with. Thumbs up from me.

The servers are messed up right now (For those with GwG) but this solution is still amazing. All you need to do is go and switch out the drivetrain for an AWD, and then just auto upgrade to A class. I didn't even need to retune at all, I went from losing every race to never losing a meet with the '69 Ford Mustang Boss. Thank you so much!

@zombietommy: you need to win at least one at every showdown location, which makes a minimum of 6 wins. for the friends, I quote the solution of horstwayne (please give him a thumps up), where erod550 stated the following:

Boosting seems impossible because you can only do Showdowns against other players. If you are offline the Showdown option will not be available. Also if you go to a Car Meet while in a private match it throws you in with the general public so as far as I can tell you cannot just do a Showdown against your friends to boost unless you get lucky on the matchmaking.

With the except of the Saint Martin drag race (in which I used the 33 Stradale) I won every showdown the first time in an S2(998) Lamboghini Veneno. Even with head starts I was still able to catch up to any lower class cars. Use this car if you keep being overtaken by higher class cars if you're using the other methods.

In my opinion, at the moment this achievement in “enough boostable”, as there are few players active in car meets.

I won 2 races playing with a friend. We were in a private session, then we went to Saint Martin car meet. After waiting few seconds, we were in the same “lobby”. I started a head to head and, fortunately, only my friend accepted. He left me win the race and I got my first 16% of competition for this achievement. We did the same in Castelletto.
If you find another player active in the lobby, leave it and go to another car meet with your friend. Consider that I’ve lost a lot of time trying to do some head to head legit, as nobody else accepted my challenge.

However, I also won 4 races legit, with a Toyota Celica GT four RC ST185, pimped to class C (starting from D, paying more or less 20k cr). It’s a quiet 4WD, easy to control. When you find an active player accepting your head to head, usually he/she has a S1+ car, so you start the race a lot of time earlier than the opponent. You only have to drive through the finish line without crashing. Consider that I’m not a great racer, but with this method I won 4 races on 5 attempts.
The only race you can’t win legit with this method is Saint Martin, as X999 cars can catch up you in few seconds. In this case, you need to pimp a car and find a lobby versus a player with low class car.

I won this achievement yesterday 02/10/2016. If either yourself or a friend are in the car meet you can send a game invite, we were both in a game party together but doing our own thing not sure if this matters. Once they join and once the option is ready hit the x button for showdown and off you go. just repeat so the other player can win do this for all 6.

None of the other solutions mention any of this information so I felt compelled to have to write this.

There are a total of 6 car meets in the game. You unlock car meets after your championship win in Sisteron. Open up your world map, then press cn_LB to change filter to display Car Meets only. Going from left-to-right, the car meets are:

Sisteron
Saint-Martin (drag)
Nice
San Giovanni
Castelletto
Montellino

If you have a boosting partner, one of you can show up to a Car Meet then send a game invite to the other person. I unlocked it this way with a random I met in free roam.

There are six Meeting Points in Horizon. Drive up to it and enter. Hit to start a Showdown. Mostly it's a point to point race and cars get started based on PI. The lower the PI, the more head start you get. Get a win at each of the six Car Meets for this achievement.

Everything is quite simple, if you take advantage of a separate start for a lower class of cars, all five auto meetings were completed the first time on a subaru wrx sti 2011 B-class , opponents came across in cars from S1 to X999, got a head start at the start (30-36s) and arrived calmly .A separate issue is the car meeting in Saint Martin. this is drag racing, here we take the Lotus Eleven 1956 and we will definitely upgrade it to the S1-class , because on the first attempt on this car tuned to X999 I was second, choosing the S1 modification again got a head start at the start and again won the first attempt

There are a total of 6 car meeting points on the map, you need to win each one. We go there, wait for the selection of players to complete, it should appear at the bottom Start a duel, if this button is not there, press RT (top right) a list will appear and if in front of the players it says Race... then it means it is already underway, we wait for them to pass and press . The most important! If suddenly, you are 2nd (or more) and the enemy leaves the race (this happens when they crash), we continue to drive calmly until the finish line, you will be counted as a victory!!

I don't know what was meant by glitchy. It seems to be working out fine.

I advise you to take a car with a rating of 500-600, in which you will confidently take turns. Mostly people come across there with fancy 900-999 cars. Accordingly, you will be given a head start of half a minute - a minute, which is usually enough to easily reach the finish line in first place.
