How to unlock the Gliding it Home achievement in Forza Horizon 3 - Definitive Guide

I did this on the first event that didnt have a triangle (blizzard warning)
How to:
- Go to the event and blueprint it if you want
- Make sure you choose a type where you can use a car you doesnt have snow tires on
- Choose your car without snow tires (It might ask you if you are sure you want it say yes)
- Set the AI on lowest difficulty in the prerace screen
- And then just win the race (i did it in GTR HE)
Its pretty easy except the last corner is a bit tricky if you go in to quickly so i recommend having rewinds turned on and to brake a lil earlier for corners thenyou usually do

Edit: Doesnt unlock for some people when using stock tires. But does if you switch them to street.

this appears to be glitched, done 3 different races without snow tires and still has not unlocked

@thunderforce3 Are you sure you did them without snow tires? You might have accidently put on that it auto switches tires.

Ok, I figured this out. For those having issues with this still. You cannot use the default tire of any vehicle even if it is a non-snow tire. It wouldn't unlock for me either if I used my custom vehicles that had non-snow tires. Once I went to the garage and replaced the default tire to a street tire (or any non-snow tire) it unlocked for me

Had the same issue as thunderforce3. Did 3 races with non-snow tire cars with no luck. Went to the garage and replaced the current tires with street tires and it worked. Thanks.

Wondered why it didn't unlock when i used my stock Subaru. Put some race tires on to make it an even A class and it unlocked first time. +1

Just reconfirming the edit re stock tires--the glitch is still (26 APR 17) not fixed, so make sure your non-snow tire car has an upgraded compound. I also note that the grip increase for the better compounds is higher than that of the snow tires--do the snow tires actually do anything other than increase the grip slightly???

I used an 08 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X GSR with the only upgrade being STREET TIRES. AI Inexperienced and the Pull Rank skill. I was never challenged.clap

The Polaris RZR HE on Ice Lake CC Circuit, set to 1 lap, is a cakewalk.

What do you guys mean with "Street tire"? I do not have that option, only: Stock, Sport, Race, "Horizon" Race, Snow and Hot Wheels Race.
Which one is the Street one?
Thank you

@losiferus I think every car has different available tires. Check another car.

+1 for Street tires. I listened to HAMbidextrous1 up above and chose the 2008 Lancer Evo GSR. I bought it from the auto show and only upgraded to "Street tires". Achievement popped at the end of the race. As tntiseverywere said, every car has different tires available.

It should be noted that It won't unlock using "Hot wheels race tire".

It ONLY works with STREET tire compound. NO OTHER COMPOUND WORKS.

@LENNOXXX 76's comment doesn't hold up for me; the Horizon Race compound works on my Impreza, and I did it in the Highly Skilled difficulty. Quick tip: make it easy for yourself, don't do what I did.

I just completed this on the Gum Forest Cross Country Circuit (NW of the frozen lake bed, just south of a bucket list blueprint) in an unmodified 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck. [I emphasize the unmodified because I didn't have to change the tires from default.] I beat the field by at least 30 seconds and I'm not a good driver by any means. This may be a good race/car combination for anyone struggling to complete this achievement.

+1 to AliceFairy's original solution as well.

I used a 2015 Subaru WRX STI with *street* tires and other upgrades on the Mountain Rush Descent and... it worked! I even got the 6 pass skills for 3 stars.

It was quite fun actually. Very fun. The race ends on the street too, so it's a great one to try.

I had a car with offroad tires on and it didn't unlock, changed them to street and it unlocked that way - seems like the only tires that count as "not snow" are the street ones laugh

I just did this on the Blizzard Mountain Snow Peak Cross Country Circuit (1 lap) using 'Anything Goes'. I used a 2017 Ford Focus RS tuned to S1 812 with Horizon Race tires equipped and it worked.

Seems easy enough because a lot of the AI will screw up one of the jumps and take themselves out of the race because they can't recover.
