How to unlock the Relic Hunter achievement in Forza Horizon 3 - Definitive Guide
There are 15 Barn Finds to collect in Horizon 3. These are found scattered across the map in various areas and show up after a certain amount of play time as your mechanic friend will let you know of some car rusting away in a barn. It'll show an indicator on the map of where the barn find is located. Head over to this area and then search for a barn and drive into it. Once that's done it'll trigger a cutscene, the car will be taken away and restored. The achievement unlocks once you've restored fifteen cars. I've included a full map with 15 barn finds below along with a video showing the location of each barn find. The map included is 4k in size and courtesy of Gamerheadquarters , click on it for a full view which should make it easy to spot barn finds.

Edit: Note, it would appear some people are having the achievement get stuck at 93% despite restoring all vehicles. You're not the only one, with the newly released Barn Find you can apparently get the achievement by collecting/restoring it since it's fixed quickly. There are now more than 15 cars available, you only need to find 15 of them

I just got this achievement today, however I had to do a different method in unlocking this. It worked for me so if any of you guys are still stuck on 93% like i was, this should be of massive help. I had 19 out of 20 barn finds unlocked (4 above the 15 barn finds the achievement require was for. So what I did to fix this problem was
Disconnect your internet from Xbox One. (Turn your internet box off)
Go to "My Games and Apps" select Forza Horizon 3, manage game and delete the game save from your console. (Don't worry it will only delete your local save, not your cloud save.)
Play until you get at least 1 barn find and then collect it. (I need 2 just to be on the safe side.) Obviously if your percentage on the progression is less than say 93% and its for example 86% then you will need to find at least 2 barn finds.
Pause the game and go back into the Xbox One dashboard menu. Go back to "My Games and Apps" select Forza Horizon 3 again, manage game and delete the game save from your console again. Important note is to make sure you do not quit the game as it needs to still be running for this to work.
Reconnect your internet to Xbox One.
Once your internet is fully connected go back to Forza Horizon 3, the game will load up and your achievement will pop up. Your game will after synchronise your save from your cloud storage so no progress at all will be wiped.
Credit for the above solution goes to DropDeadHorizon who originally wrote this method out to fix this problem with a different achievement "I want it all" for obtaining all skill perks. This method also has worked for other gamers who have also suffered buggy progression on their other achievements as well including Exhibition Expert and Horizon Hardcore.
Hope this helps guys.

Can all them be found at the very beginning or do I need to be at a certain progress, level etc?

The other guides are perfectly fine, but if you are a gamer that likes to try to find things on their own such as myself may I suggest using drone mode to find the barn finds.
To access drone mode (something new to Forza Horizon) you must unlock it using skill points you gain from leveling up. It is one of the first skills you can pick up. Once you level up and get to the skill shop it is under festival boss on the bottom middle tile.
Then press and in the home tab you will find it on the bottom right under photo mode. This will allow you to fly a drone that that is much more maneuverable and can rotate easier than any car you use, especially in the hilly tree filled areas the barn finds tend to be in.
Just drive to the purple area highlighted on your map and deploy your drone. Anything you see with your drone will be marked on your map making it easier to drive directly to it. I have found this has saved me a bit of time once i started utilizing it. I have also found some bonus boards this way.
If anyone has any problems or anything they think should be added let me know so I can edit the post. I hope this helps!

There are 15 Barn Find cars in Forza Horizon 3. These Barn Finds give you rare and classic cars. While you progress through the story you will get notifications of barn rumors.
After you find them in the barns you have to wait a while until they are restored until you can drive them.
The Barn Finds are collected clockwise starting from the bottom the Forza Horizon 3 map.

I don't get how you can find a barn all by yourself but unless you get a notification, the cutscene for finding the barn doesn't trigger...

Can't find 19 though. Won't trigger for me. I'm level 255.

While playing the game, one of your assistants will notify you about the possibility of coming across lost cars somewhere in the wilderness. There are a total of fifteen cars to be found and you will only find them one at the time.
Once you find a car, it takes roughly five minutes for a new message to indicate that you can collect the car. Go to any Festival site, enter it and in your menus you will see the "Barn Finds" that you can retrieve. You actually need to retrieve them and the achievement will unlock after you found the last one.

Please note that as of November 16, 2016, more rarities were added to the game for temporary achievements. Now there are already 16 of them. To achieve this you only need story rarities, there are 15 of them in the game.

The map above is not relevant, since the rarities are located randomly. The map didn't help me.
