How to unlock the Totally meant to do that... achievement in Forza Horizon 3 - Definitive Guide

First you need to build Outback festival, then you are able to buy buggys.
Once you have a buggy, you need to do a barrel roll with it and since we can't do tricks you need to force the car into it.

For me it worked driving down to the back of Redstone airport with a Ariel Nomad and hitting a ramp with 2 weels and the other two ouside of the ramp. The car started to roll and as soon as I was back on all 4 wheels, the cheevo popped.

Valnor2 also suggests:
At the Redstone gold mine there is a fast travel board in a tunnel under the road, it had rounded sides and I was able to get the achievement there easily

In my experience, you don't even have to land it. As long as the skill counter says 'Barrel Roll', you unlock the achievement a few seconds later regardless, even in mid rewind!

I tried to do it in the airport area with the ramps BTW. This video also helped: https://youtu.be/xYtxBZgRnkk

You don't have to have the Outback Festival built to get buggys. I bought the Ariel Nomad from the auction house and have yet to build the Outback Festival.

The tunnel was the easiest for me speed through until about halfway, then drive up the side. If you get the skill points for a barrel roll, cheek will pop right after.

You don't have to even go fast. You only need to perform the roll. I did half the roll in the air and the other half touching the floor and still unlocked.

I got this achievement by accident when trying to get 3 stars on the Gold Mine danger sign with the Ariel Nomad. The buggy seems to like to roll, especially when you jump off the right side of the ramp, so this is another possibility.

I landed upside down and it popped so you don't have to land on all 4 apparently.

Followed the video in Alpha Aloe's post above, worked first time, after failing too many times trying the ramps by the airport. Definitely recommend trying at the rock in the rainforest

Couldn't replicate. Went to the lumber yard and got it almost right away. Heads up too that the Manx doesn't qualify.

I tried the other solutions without success. I went to the airport like they suggested but after missing a few times I fell down into one of the tunnels and found this:

External image

Not all of them work though, you have to go to the position below because the rest have a ridge that acts as a wall. The southern entrance to the western tunnel acts as a ramp which is perfect for low speed barrel rolls.

External image

Get up to about 65-70 mph and put the wall right in the middle of the car. Then at the last minute turn just a tiny bit towards the tunnel and you will get it. I tried it several times and got it at least half of the time.

Here's a video I made for further explanation.

Tried this like a... GAZILLION times but I just outright suxx at rolling a buggy... Was about to give up and "rolled", landed on the ROOF of the car, and cheevo popped... :D Not saying others will get it by landing up side down, I'm just saying don't give up :D

Great tip! If you have your buggy upgraded it doesn't take much to roll it here.

The 2 first pictures don't load anymore so I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.

followed your strategy. Didn't manage to do the barrel roll at all (always landed on the roof of the car), but it still popped.

Tabbe's solution is great, but I was having trouble getting enough air from the airport ramps to complete the barrel roll before hitting the ground.

An alternative spot is the timber mill in Kiewa Valley. There are 3 really big stacks of logs that make up tabletop ramps, and approaching them from the direction in which the main timber mill buildings are on your right hand side gives you a clean, smooth run which means you can carry decent speed.

Hitting the side of the right-most stack of logs with 2 wheels on, 2 wheels off the ramp and within 3 tries I had enough air, speed and rotation to fully barrel roll in the air and pop the achievement. I did it in an A800 class Alumi Craft but I imagine other buggies will all work fine too.

Most of my road & XP board searching was done in the Rally Fighter and I pulled off the perfect barrel roll by using this method. I then used The Cholla buggy on my first attempt, totally botched it and crash landed the buggy, but got the achievo.

Excellent. Tried dozens of times at the airport. Used your method and got it first try at the timber mill in an Ariel Nomad.

Vastly superior method. I crushed it in the Manx twice, but apparently that doesn't qualify as a buggy. Went back in the Ariel, completely botched my first roll and still got the achievement. Thanks OP!

Just following on from @Tabbe 's post,

I can confirm that hitting a ramp at the Ariel Nomad airport was a good way to get this.

Here is the clip of me getting it just for reference.
I was using the Ariel Nomad and I had to clear out the Solar panels on the path back to ramp to make it easier.

Created this as you can't add clips to comments.

I got this at the timber saw mill the big log ramps is what you need to shoot for. I did this not even trying, so my suggestion is go for the ramps anywhere just don't try hard or put pressure on yourself.

I used the Ariel nomad and went to the shipwreck area, to the west of that area there is a jump with 2 rails that bend upwards, I drove at the bent rail on the left of the jump and as I took off it caused me to do a barrel roll

It seems like you have to land on your wheels for it to register

This is a very easy achievement. Simply go to the Redstone Airport and use the ramps there to do it. Make sure you get two tires on the ramp and two tires off the ramp so the buggy spins. TIP (use rewind if you need)

If you have the Blizard Mountain DLC, this method works perfect. I did it at second try:

You actually need to have unlocked the Outback Festival first since that gives the earliest access to a buggy. Even though the achievement sounds simple, most people I know didn't even try it at all but to the achievement by luck while racing a buggy or trying jumping danger signs.

A few jumps that could help you: Airfield Jump or Timber Mill Jump. But there a dozens of other ramps/jumps located on the map. Just drive towards them, put only two wheels on the ramp and as long as you land on all four wheels, the achievement will unlock.
