How to unlock the Track Star achievement in Forza Horizon 3 - Definitive Guide

First off - this is much easier than "Going Supernova" from Blizzard Mountain. If you've got that, this one will be a doddle.

Medals are what you collect to progress in this DLC. They're earned from the Hot Wheels Career races (Exhibitions), Bucket List challenges and the free roam challenges (Speed Traps, Danger Signs, etc.). There are 177 medals in total.

Hot Wheels Career races

These are the same as the "King of the Mountain" races from Blizzard Mountain. There are three medals to win in each race: one for completing, one for placing 1st, and one more for meeting a specific objective. These objectives revolve around one of three things:

Lap time faster than X:XX - Generally you have a lot of time to spare on these, you can even do them on the first lap. Pick a fast car (see the list below for the cars I used) and use the "Stunt Swap" to swap the blue track piece for the Boost Jump. It can really increase your lap times, doing that.
[number] X skills - Get 8 awesome speed skills, 2 ultimate jumps, etc. Bare in mind that for events where you have to get 15 drift skills, this does not mean 15 separate drifts - you can get multiple skills from one long drift. Turning the STM off is recommended for that one. If you're having trouble with any of these, switching to a different stunt piece may help (spiral for drifts, boost jump for jumps, etc.).
Earn X skill points/X skill points in one chain - The best place to get skill points is right at the start of the race. Passes, Clean Start, chain them together with drifts and speed skills and you can get them done in the first 30 seconds of the race. Just be wary of the AI, they can barge into you and make you lose your skill chain.

The cars I used for these races, in order of class:
B - BMW M235I
A - BMW M4 Coupe
S1 - Nissan GT-R Black Edition HE
S2 - Lamborghini Centenario
There are probably better cars out there (especially for B & A), but this is what worked for me.

Bucket list challenges

These give medals dependent on their difficulty: one medal for easy, two for medium and three for hard. There's only five of them in this DLC and only one that might pose some problems (#4). Luckily, there's an alternate route you can take through it, cutting off several seconds. Here's a run-through, courtesy of Paragleiber:

Free roam challenges

Incredibly easy this time around. The four usual suspects:
Speed Traps - A 1500hp Lamborghini Centenario will breeze through them.
Speed Zones - Same here, use a maxed out Centenario.
Danger Signs - Ditto. Centenario.
Drift Zones - Use what you're comfortable with, whatever got you through the base game. They're nowhere near as hard here though. You can't go wrong with the Toyota Celica '74, though I'd recommend the Hot Wheels Ford Mustang to work towards the drift achievements for that car. Don't forget the drift tunes and to turn STM off.

If you've got some suggestions or if I've got something wrong, please leave a comment below. Thanks for reading, go get that achievement! wave

I had a lot of trouble getting a lap time faster than 1:20 on the S1 class Circuit race "Supercharged Summit". I tried everything from the Caterham Superlight R500 (usually close, within a half second) to the Nissan GT-R Black Edition HE (always over a second behind) to the Ferrari 488 GTB (always over a second behind) to the Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 HE (always a couple seconds behind). I studied the track, hit every apex perfectly, never smashed against a wall or drivatar...

Well, I finally got it today with the Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV HE, with a lap time of (no joke) 1:19:995

I had an issue getting the Sky Track Attack best lap (2:05). Finally got it with My Countach LP5000 HE and speed ramp. +1 for me. Good guide!
Just wanted to mention that you'll give yourself an extra 10s on the final Bucket List if you turn left, instead. ;)

For S2, Danger Signs, Speed zones/traps, the Ferrari FXX-K is amazing. Convert to AWD and then auto update to S2.

Dont forget stunt swap out is your friend on the fastest lap challenges! on Supercharged Summit stick in a jump instead and save 5 or 6 seconds

^ That's already in the solution:

My tip for 12 great speeds is as soon as you see the progress counter register a great speed just let go of the gas , drop 20 kms or so then give it the gas again.
Just keep speeding up then slowing down slightly and repeating.

I cannot for the life of me beat 2:05 on Sky Track Attack (S1). I've tried countless times, with at least a dozen different cars. The best I can do is 2:07, which is not even close. I have no idea why it's so much more difficult than all the others, none of which gave me a problem. Ideas?

I having the same is Johnny Ola. I keep hitting 2:07. Not a single issue with any other one 😡 Driving me crazy!

Edit- damn, FINALLY got it!! I ended with 2:04. I used the 88 lambo. Countach HE tuned and what got me that additional few seconds was the PULL RANK perk. Once I used that, beat it first time. Just my experience, hope it helps 😁

For anyone still struggling with Sky Track Attack, I find that using the 88 Countach HE with the tune RRRR by OneShotMoofles. I achieved a time of under 2:00 on my second lap without the pull rank skill, and im not the best driver by any stretch. Hopefully this helps!

For the S2 lap times, I used the Lambo Huracan HE parted up to 988. Best of everything except for default engine and no intercooler upgrade. (Race springs, bumper and wing, Hot Wheels tire compound, lightest rims). I didn't fine tune it and was still beating the times on the first lap with no pull rank. It reads 9.5 speed, 8.6 handling and 10 for the rest.

I also used it for the 12 speed challenge. I got 11 on the first try with it (9 with another car) and then hit 13 on my next try as I got an awesome speed seconds before the finish. The 12 speed may take a time or two, you have to avoid wrecking as much as possible.

EDIT: The tuned 88 Lambo Countach HE worked great for Sky Track. I didn't see the tune mentioned above, but found one that got it done in under 2:04 for the second and third laps.

IDK if this is an updated feature or not, but for the x amount of great speeds for the S2 races, anything past Great Speed also count, so Awesome and Ultimate Speed also count

Came here looking for tips on completing the 2:05 and the 1:20 lap times (the last 2 stars I needed) so thank you very much to XenomorphFiend and TrimSkink DSG for the car advice! Got the 1:20 lap first attempt with the Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV HE and have high hopes for the 2:05 lap! General thumbs up for the guide as well smile

On the great speed skills remember you have to maintain 150 mph. No need to go faster, unless you're not in the lead.

I am struggling drifting and winning using the option given for Class A on Camber Carnage, not fast enough for me to get out of the drifts without a majority of the other cars passing me. What gives?

I did not have the Lamborghini Centenario, but did have the Lambo Aventador LP750-4 SV (2016). I ended up using this for all my S2 races (finishing all medals 1st try), as well as getting all 3 medals on danger signs, speed zones, and speed traps. I only had to reattempt one of them to complete. Rating S2 994

For anyone struggling on the Great Speed medals (four S2 races have them as a requirement) I'd recommend using the 2016 Audi R8 V10 plus. I used a tune called Audi V12T. I was hitting 10 and 11 speed achievements in things like the Pagani Zonda and my custom Mercedes C63 Speed Edition, but got around 14 (of 12 required) with this Audi and tune. No need to manipulate or modulate your racing style. Add the Loop as well, as you seem to get the speed achievements faster under normal driving conditions as opposed to the speed boosts on the track. You can usually get 2 speed achievements per loop.

An easy way to get the medals on race events is to do them in multiplayer.

The person needing the medals concentrates on the task (score/drifts/etc) and their friend goes for the win.

As long as your team wins the race, it counts for the "win" medal and you'll get the "task" medal regardless of where you finish individually

To progress through the DLC you need medals. There are total 177 medals and there are 3 medals to earn on each event except the bucket lists. They’re earned from doing the Hot Wheels Career races (Exhibitions), the free roam challenges (Danger Signs, Speed Zones, etc) and Bucket List challenges. As you progress through the game more will start to unlock.

Hot Wheel Career Races

There are three medals to win in each race and a total of 27. You get one medal for completing the race, one for placing 1st and one for meeting a specific objective. The objectives revolve around one of three things in a race:

Lap time faster than what they tell you:

On some events, you will be given a set time to beat in a lap. Upgrade your car the best you can and if you’re still finding it hard to beat the time, use the "Stunt Swap" to swap the blue track piece for the Boost Jumps.

Skill score so much in a single chain:

For this objective you will have a set Skill score to get in one single chain. It’s best to get the score at the start of the race, so you don’t runout of time. Clean Start, drifts, Passes and speed skills all count towards this just make sure you don’t crash of you will lose your points.

Earn a set amount of Skill points:

You will have an objective for getting a set amount of awesome speed skills, drift skills, ultimate jumps etc. If you're having trouble with any of these, you use different stunt piece may help.

Free roam challenges

Please refer to “Hot Wheels Stunt Master”

Bucket list challenges

There is a total of 5 bucket lists for you to complete. The bucket list blueprints are not needed.

Two easy ones which have 1 medal on each.

Two medium ones which have 2 medals on each.

One hard one which has three medals.

Please refer to “Death Defying” for more information on the bucket lists.
