This achievement is very easy... There's only 7 events and you use the formula drift cars...
::::FOR 3 STARS::::
Stage 1 - 120,000 - Follow the route with the blue marker
Stage 2 - 190,000 - Follow the route with the blue marker
Stage 3 - 300,000 - Follow the route with the blue marker
Stage 4 - 250,000 - Follow the route with the blue marker DO NOT TURN RIGHT, OR GO ROUND THE BACK OF THE MOUNTAIN, CONTINUE STRAIGHT UNTIL YOU SEE THE BLUE DOT FOR THE FINISH LINE
Stage 5 - 500,000 - Ignore the route to the RIGHT and TURN LEFT AT THE START, head down hill the same way STAGE 1 takes you, Turn RIGHT again where STAGE 2 ends, follow road to the end, TURN LEFT and you should be at the top of the Festival drift around there for remaining points to 500,000k
Stage 6 - 450,000 - Follow the route with the blue marker... But be quick as this track can catch you out on time if your slow
Stage 7 - 1,000,000 (easier than it sounds) - Follow the route with blue marker, yiu should have at least 600k by the time you get to the festival as that's half way marker, there's bags of time, I usually hit the finish line with about 1 min 30 secs to go...
Now if you like me, and your not very good at drifting this is my setup for doing all of the above 3 stars...
Turn ABS, Traction and Stability OFF
Gears Manual
Rewind ON (just in case you need it)
Now as the race starts you want to press the B button twice to get you into 3rd gear and that's it... No need to change fearing as these cars are so powerful that you don't need to worry about speed...
Also once I got to the amount needed for 3 stars I quickly headed for the finish line, there is tones of time and you should get it no bother :-)

EDIT: If doing this with a partner the person with the highest DRIFT POINTS scored is what the team score will end as... I noticed this today (01/01/2019) with StopSpazinOut... After they asked me for help, and his achievement popped at the end of the 1 million point challenge
EDIT 2: As of today (13/04/19) I helped PirS92 to do this achievement, and it took a few tries, PirS92 was falling behind (not his fault) and before you used to be able to cut across the grass to catch up this was failing the events... Not sure if this is cause of updates... So NOW:::
- You can still gain the achievement with your partner getting the highest score
- YOU MUST STICK TO THE ROADS/DIRT ROADS, its OK to swerve a drift onto the edge of the grass, but full OFFROADING NO!!
- If you want to cut to catch up, make sure you check the map to see if a road rejoin an event to get to the finish line
EDIT 3: While recently helping another member I noticed we where failing every event in co-op even when I was hitting more than the 3 STAR marker... I asked the person to try and gain 1 STAR in each event while I continued to get 3 STARS...
So 1 player has to gain at least 1 star and the other has to gain the amount for all 3 stars

Great guide. I also suck at drifting, but somehow managed to get through this pretty quickly. The note to turn ABS off definitely helped. A couple of things that may help if people are struggling:
1) I found 2nd gear better for the Maloo in Chapter 1. Any higher gear just resulted in instant spins
2) I found 4th gear better for the Mustang in Chapter 6. Seemed to need more power than the rest of the cars

for the last one you actually dont need to drive around the whole map while thinking about time. just farm your 1 million points near the start/finish line without any stress. (its really easier then it sounds!)

Just wanted to note that if your tracker gets stuck like mine at ~23%, just keep going and once you get 3 stars on all of them it will unlock.

I really hate drift achievement guides that start with "this is really easy" when it isn't for those who finding drifting exceptionally difficult. Granted, the tips here did help, but I'm still struggling mightily on stage 2 where I usually run out of time at around 110k points.
Do they keep getting harder from there (because if so, I might as well give up right now).
Edit: Out of time at 150k in stage 3 (and a long way from the end) -- this looks completely impossible for me... I hate drifting...

Absolutely! I’m sure it’s been asked but, is winter the best weather to drift in? Or does it make a difference? It felt a lot easier to me, but it coulda just been luck

I find them all equally enjoyable to drift in... With winter it turns your gravel roads to an ice rink, so you want to start the drifts earlier than normal, a lot more throttle control too as you spin out more on the ice... there's differences for every season but once you get used to it it should be a walk in the park

Needed to switch to manual to get stage 5 the others were fine in auto. Just left it in 3rd and followed the route in the guide and got it but was tight time wise.

God this achievement is humbling it's tough as nails. Can't get past stage 5. I'd consider myself just above poor at drifting as I did manage to 3 star all the main game drift zones but for some reason finding this so tough. The scores are so huge for such a short time.
I haven't tried manual gears yet so there's still a lifeline.
Edit: Doh I had traction control still on. Turning that off helped massively on stage 5. There may still be hope

Stage 5 was a bit of a doozy trying to follow OP's advice. Way too hard to remember "where stage 1 ends, where stage 2 ends, etc." Failed like 5 times trying to create my own weird route. I tried out the manual trick and that is what helped. I followed the intended route and got nearly 600k with 15 seconds to spare. I left manual on (because I am lazy) and by kicking it into third gear, stage 6 and 7 were a breeze.

These honestly were way easier to me than 3-starring all mainland drift zones. I knocked most of them out first try. Make sure you have both traction and stability control turned off. I had my gear shifting to automatic but you could go down the manual 4th gear route. One HUGE tip that helped me. Do not use your brakes unless you have to. A lot of people push the A button to start their drifts but realistically you don’t need too. Just get up to decent speed and gradually wiggle the joystick back and forth. This keeps your momentum as you drift and you rack up points way faster. And again, I am a below average drifter so this really isn’t too hard

I struggle more if I use manual for drifting. I'm not great at drifting (I can spend an hour 3 starring one drift zone) but I managed to get all stages 3 starred in one try by simply using automatic with traction control and stability off. ABS was left on as you shouldn't have to break for extended periods of time while drifting so turning it off won't matter; a tap to start a drift and the rest is all about properly applying gas. It's easy to either go too slow if you just follow the racing line colors or too fast if you're the type of a player who uses the accelerator as an on/off type of a button. Don't hesitate to just rewind a ton. If you spin out or go off road just rewind and try again until you succeed. By just trying different angles and speeds you'll eventually figure out the best approach for turns. Besides, missing one turn doesn't necessarily mean you won't hit 3 stars so if a section simply is too difficult feel free to skip it. As for those who run out of time you shouldn't maintain that slow speeds to begin with. Slow speeds are worse for drifting. I'd say that my speeds were generally between 50 and 70 mph, only the very sharp turns were an exception. Mainland drift club was way harder for me.

I drive in automatic so that might be for some of my struggles but wanted to give some extra tips for anyone that might be having problems like me.
For stage 5 I was really struggling with that viper in the mountains so I ended up taking a similar path to the first challenge and then meeting up with the ending path for stage 5. I had to back track a little to reach the 500k but had plenty of time to do so and finish.
For stage 7 I followed the path it tells you until just before the mountains. then I turned around and went back the same way I came, stopping just short of the finish line and then repeating. In 1 pass I was getting between 150k-200k points (1 pass=1 time in one direction). To put it in perspective you need to average 100k per minute to complete this. I finished the 1 million with 1.5 minutes remaining. Super easy and less stressful.

Great advice. I followed your instructions about the route. However, I kept traction control, ABS on and kept it on auto. I have trouble controlling the car with traction and abs off. The routes itself are pretty easy to hit the target. I didnt go try to get high on leaderboards as I just wanted the achievements. The only problem with auto transmission is that most of the drifts had to be done around 70-110kmph speed which did hinder me a little but I was able to easily 3 star almost all of them with time to spare and extra scores.
A couple things I will point out. With my setup I had trouble with stage 5(one where the finish line is at festival) because by the time I got to festival I needed about 120k. Luckily, I had a lot of time and just kept drifting around the festival until I hit the mark. I finished that stage with only 5 seconds to spare.
The final stage(stage 7) was quite easy. I only had a score of around 420k when I reached the festival but I managed to hit 1M with about 2km left and roughly 2mins on the time. The moment I hit 1M, i went offroad to complete it as fast possible skipping the last few turns. My advice is keep going if you dont hit 500k by the time you reach festival. Chances are you might get 1M when you reach the final destination.

Use chase view. Easier to spot when the car has too much angle. Sometimes the games vibration feedback is misleading.
On straights, dont just drive. Flick the thumbstick a little + let off the gas momentarily and then smash the gas to land some high speed drifts that are fairly easy to control. You can bank 50-80k pretty quickly on some routes before you get to the technical stuff.
Before a corner try having the nose of the car pointed in the opposite direction and/or slightly turn the opposite direction + lift off gas, then 70-100% throttle (less gas for tight turn and more for wider arcs) + turn in direction of the corner. This will start a drift every time. After that counter steer and play with gas to keep the drift going.
Tap the brake and turn into a corner if you need the car to pivot to another direction. Braking really isn't needed much for these cars though. Coasting and throttle play work pretty well.
Stage 1-3 3rd gear only and you should be bouncing off the rev limiter. The engine shouldn't be bogging and if so you are going too slow. BMW wants to do donuts the most. Just rewind and adjust throttle or steering input or both.
Stage 4 - 3rd gear on road and 4th gear off road. Most points should be earned before off road section. Car is balanced well and can be abused.
Stage 5 - 4th gear on straights. It'll help you complete last quarter really quick. Don't let off gas abruptly. Car doesn't seem to like it. Weight shift is an issue. You pretty much have to feather the gas throughout. Car really grips in 4th gear speed sections.
Stage 6 - easiest stage and car combo. Car has good grip and can really be manhandled. 3rd gear for tighest sections and 4th gear for rest. 3rd gear throughout should be fine too. I ended up with well over 700k points. The 3 star target is low.
Stage 7 - really grippy car that sometimes grips too much. 3rd gear is ok for some of mountain section, but car is much better in 4th. If your point total is low after mountain don't worry. Drifting on straights in 4th will net a lot of points. A lot of the remaining path are wider roads so less precision is needed and car can be abused. Ended with 1.6 million points.

Work your way downhill so your first turn is left, what you want to do is get the car to drift right before the turn to the left with a little speed, handbrake on to turn car left and put on the power maintain the speed from third gear round the corner, on the straight handbrake from edge to edge of the road till you get the long right corner try to be tight on entry not too fast tap the power to keep car moving and power round the last left bend
