How to unlock the Hatch Me If You Can achievement in Forza Horizon 4 - Definitive Guide

After going through all four seasons, which is the introductory part of the game, you'll qualify for the Horizon roster and also unlock the respective achievement. Upon doing that, the drag strip will also be unlocked and a new event will be available just to the west of the Horizon Festival, titled "Horizon Festival Drag Strip."

By going to the Autoshow and pressing cn_Y, you can filter out the cars that are not eligible. Scroll down and select "Hot Hatch", then press cn_B. The selected type needs to be "Hot Hatches" specifically and not another hatchback type, like "Retro Hot Hatches" etc. Then you can press cn_X to sort the Hot Hatches by Class. The better stock car of the bunch for this achievement is the Audi S1, which comes with an AWD drivetrain, offering a nice launch off the line. Buy that and then head to event.

It's a drag race, so obviously you'll be racing in a straight line. The achievement will pop if you manage to cross the line with a sub-25-second time, which is pretty easy with the stock S1 and it doesn't matter if you win the race or not. If you're still struggling for whatever reason, you can just auto-upgrade the car to the next class or search for a basic tune I've shared to the Storefront, using my Gamertag or typing "hatch me if you can" in the description.

EDIT: Make sure you don't create a custom Blueprint while going for this one, since it doesn't count towards it it seems. Use the default one for Hot Hatches instead. Thanks to users "A Volvo Driver" and "Borg561". In addition, it appears it only works in Solo.

Maybe worthy of note that the category selected must be simply "Hot Hatch". I tried this in a "Retro Hot Hatch" and "Super Hot Hatch" before I realised the "Hot Hatch" category was missing from the list because I didn't own a suitable car! Just go to the Autshow and pick up the Audi S1 as described and it's trivial to get this achievement.

This didn't unlock after doing in a John Cooper Works 2009 Mini (Hot-Hatch).

But it does unlock with the Audi S1, as suggested.

Were you guys playing solo and using the Audi or some other car? I honestly don't know why this popped right away during pre-release and now it doesn't even unlock.

Lol mine worked with the mini not sure it was the 2009 one though. Also this achievement is stupidly easy, it should've been complete it in 10 seconds, not 25! roll

Might be worth adding that the car DOESN'T need to be stock :) just got it with my Clio RS tuned up to S1 900 in a 9 second run.

I can confirm that "retro hot hatch" doesn't count. I tried it it my 1980's Golf (tuned to 800ish) and the achievement didn't pop.

Just checked here and sure enough it seems to be the straight "hot hatch" category.

I'll edit the solution to further clarify that the car class needs to be "Hot Hatches" only, as it seems a few people have an issue with that, thanks for the comment(s).

^What A Volvo Driver said. First time I ran the S1 I used a custom Blueprint, and it didn't unlock. Reran the event using the standard Horizon event and it unlocked right away after the race.

I dont know if this will help anyone. But i did it in multiple cars didnt unlock. Then i dis it in the ford fiesta and it unlocked. I asked the Xbox to film the gameplay so i had video proof but only filmed 5 seconds for some reason

I did it in a B class hot hatch. You would have to be driving very slowly to get over 25 seconds it seems. laugh

Glad I searched this.
I had unlocked it on my main account.
Yet went to do it on another account by doing a blueprint.

Another thing to note, it can only be done in solo mode. Tried doing it initially in rivals mode and the achievement didn’t pop.

I did it in a stock Mini Cooper S (B Class), I feel you'd have to actively try to not get it. Place doesn't matter either (I came 7th)

Unlocked when worked for achievement 5 PVP race and can be unlocked in custom Blueprint event. I am create Blueprint Hot Hatch event and playing PVP race, unlock this and get progress for the achievement 5 PVP race.

This achievement just isn't working for me. Must be glitched - its stuck on 50% on the achievement tracker.
I must have done the race 10 times in 5 or 6 different cars (Audi S1, Golf R32, Scirocco R, Clio, Civic Type R, Mini JCW) and can't get it to unlock. I've used stock cars and modified ones, and used the standard Hot Hatch blueprint and a custom one too. No joy.

The first step is to unlock the Horizon Life by completing the game's introduction. Doing so will unlock the Horizon Festival Drag Strip near the Hub.

At this point, you'll need a Hot Hatch in your garage. Feel free to check your garage for one that unlocked through wheelspins, or go to the autoshow and buy one, like the Ford Fiesta ST. You want to sort the cars by Championship to make this easier.

Now head to the event and start it. Hold the gas once the race starts and complete it within 25 seconds to unlock the achievement.

I have created a step by step video guide, but the basic steps are also below:

If you haven't already done so the first step is to unlock the Horizon Life by completing the game's introduction. After this you will have access to the Horizon Festival Drag Strip near the Hub.

Hop in a Hot Hatch (specifically and not another hatchback type). If you don't already have one from wheelspins or the car pass you can always buy one through the Autoshow or the Auction House.

I have used the 2003 Volkswagen Golf R32, This only costs 20,000 CR to buy through the Auto Show, but you can also pick this up for as low as 2,000 CR through the Auction house. and once its purchased it doesn't require any upgrades or tuning in order to win!

Once you are in a hot hatch, head to the Horizon Festival drag strip, start a drag race and drive in a straight line!!!!

Using the same event you unlocked "Tortoise and the Hare" make sure you have a Hot Hatch car in your inventory (filter you cars by class and select Hot Hatch as the type of car). Then complete the drag event in under 25 seconds. If you are having trouble with your car purchase a tuning kit to upgrade your class for your Hot Hatch car. Once you beat the event in under 25 seconds the achievement will unlock.

After completing 4 seasons, the Drag Strip at the Horizon Festival will be available to you.

1. Select Single Game (race with Drivevatars.)
2. Click change car and through the filter choose A Class and Hot hatchbacks. (If you don't have it, you can buy it at auction for a low price.) I did it on a Golf R32
3. After choosing a car, click on the Hot Hatch race (Drag strip at the Horizon Festival), which is already set as standard.
4. Drive faster than 25 seconds and the achievement is yours!
