How to unlock the Record Breaker achievement in Forza Horizon 4 - Definitive Guide

Car: 2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
Tune: "Top Speed" by "Maka91"
Speed Trap: M68 (on the highway)

You can try to save some money by purchasing the car from the auction house.

If the speed trap is not available to you, make progress on other speed traps and zones until you unlock more.

Approach the speed trap from the south, and give yourself a lot of lead up. Take gentle turns and make subtle adjustments as you in order to maintain your speed before hitting the speed trap. With the above tune, it should be relatively easy to hit the speed trap fast enough for 3 stars and the achievement.

Works great! Just for the record, hitting 258.00 does NOT count as beating it. Found that out the hard way, had to turn around and do it again. So guessing it has to be 258.01 or more to count.

Nice setup, Maka. This wasn't the fastest car to do this; the Aventador went much faster through there.

The two things that helped me: Go south along the freeway until you reach the first tunnel and start from here. If you don't have enough run-up, you won't have enough speed; the tunnel is far enough because there is a corner a bit north of here that you can't take at full speed so if you start even further; it won't help.

The other tip is to drive American-style (in the right set of lanes the wrong way against traffic) -- the last turn just before the trap isn't as sharp in those lanes and you can keep more of your speed. If you hit a car, just rewind because the car you hit isn't rewound so the lane will be clear ahead of you.

Turning on traction and stability control makes those last turns easier to take at speed.

I've tried this countless times and only come 3 mph close to the achievement. I'm getting really tired of trying. With the maka1 tune up, without driving line, other lane... I've tried everything I can think of. Someone please give me some advice.. maybe they can have it to where theres a certain amount of times of trying before they can just give you the achievement for trying by the amount of tries.

😂 I was worried about this one...got it first try...on the way there 😂 starting at the opposite end of where vid is. I was coming from my house up north. Well damn. Guess i can go ahead n sell it! Not sure how this has a high ratio. Thanks for the tune Maka!

*edit* just wanted to add I had ABS off, steering in NORMAL, traction control ON, and stability control OFF.👍

I done this after joing a Forzathon Live event and noticed something very helpful that got me the achievement first time. There is no pedestrian cars during the Live event. I kept running into other cars during my attempts, and thought this little tip would help others who are struggling with this achievement.

PROTIP: If you have about $2.1 million credits saved up, you can do this achievement for less than 70,000 credits in about 15-20 minutes.

You can easily buy a tuned Veyron in the 980-999 range for 2 million credits from the Auction house. I've checked every day this week, and nearly every hour there are at 5-10 pre-tuned Veyrons that sell for an entry bid of 2 million (not a buyout) with a buyout listed at $2.495 million.

So, go to the auction house and bid $2 million on a tuned Veyron (usually 980-990 rating) with a few minutes left in the auction. Once you win it, then you can search for and equip the Maka tune, which should only cost $50,000-70,000 credits if you bought a pre-tuned Veyron - maybe even less. Some of the Veyrons even already have the Maka tune which is even better.

Once you complete the three stars on the speed trap, and nab the achievement. Go sell your Maka tuned Veyron with a 2 million credit buyout. To get the 2 million credit buyout, you have to put the starting price at 1.1 million credits. BUT DON'T WORRY! Just set the BUYOUT at 2 million with the AUCTION LENGTH at 24 hours.

As stated, most people post their Veryon buyouts at 2.495 million or above because they are afraid of the $1.1 million starting price for the $2 million buyout. However, if you set the buyout at just $2 million, your Veyron will sell easily within 10-15 minutes to other achievement hunters looking to do what you just did.

TL;DR - In a matter of about 20 minutes, you can buy, tune, unlock and resell the Veyron for the achievement for a cost of less than $70,000 credits - allowing you to go back to hording credits for the Castle achievement.

I have watched a couple of videos on this & read a few solutions but none of them really pointed out where the difficulty was & how to get round it, so it inspired me to make my first "Achievement solution guide"
Like everybody else I started out about a quarter of a mile from the tunnel at the southern end of the M68 heading north & in the correct direction of traffic as I needed the driving line due to not so good eye sight. After many failed attempts it suddenley dawned on me that I was going to fast to soon by that I mean when I got to the point where the red breaking line appeared I went out of control so many times, I came up with the idea to start near the tunnel & build speed slowly using the right trigger at about 80% so when I got to the red breaking line I was doing just over 200mph {sorry don't know kph equivalent} making this bend more managable then just as the red breaking line is about to fade put your foot down or in this case, fully squeeze the right trigger and you should be able to get to 258 mph in good time. Just a couple more things I used "Trap Achievement" tune by Don Joewon Song {big thanks to him} my settings were default accept for ABS off making the car more rigid, one more thing you can use rewind if needed but I suggest going back a good distance with it.

P.S. I would like to thank all at True Achievements for a great site & all the people who's guides have helped me in the past, now I hope this guide {my first} will help others :}

Superb solution. Got it first time using this method - just back off a little before the veer to the left the road takes a short while before the trap or else you are indeed going too quick and end up crashing through the middle guard rails.

Great idea! I was having a bit of trouble holding the 80% speed. I just found a spot where I could just full gas it and go from 0 to 200ish at the left turn and got to 260 at the trap.

All good advice, except for the fact that there is an auction fee of around $200k when you sell the car back. I lucked out and got a tuned one for 1.9 mil. Did the achievement, managed to sell it for 2.2 mil, and barely turned a profit.

There are 3 ways to obtain the Veyron, either for 2.2 million credits in the Autoshow, around 2 million at best in the Auction House or be extremely fortunate and get it in a wheelspin.

Once you have the car (there is no need to waste money on upgrades trust me, I did it with a stock Veyron in the winter season) take it to the roundabout at the bottom of the Motorway (the road the M68 speedtrap is on).

Do a loop around the roundabout clockwise and get on the Motorway in the oncoming lane, full throttle all the way up staying as far to the right of the road as you can.

Once you reach the part where the road curves slightly to the right then curves left not long after it carry on sticking to the right for the 1st curve then cut across the lanes for the 2nd curve to keep your speed up (rewind if you're at anything below 250MPH after the 2nd one.)

Keep the car as straight as possible from here and you should hit the speedtrap at 258-260.

Also on a sidenote if like me you only intend to use the car for this achievement I listed it in the Auction House immediately afterwards with a 2 million buyout and it went within around 10 minutes.

Buy a Veyron Super Sport firstly (2.2m), grab a tuning setup from the creative hub & then boot it down to the M68 speed trap. should have this unlocked in no time.

Just wanted to add to the guides above, I reached 269MPH at the speedtrap with ease. I came several miles from the south on the right side of the road, and used rewind whenever I hit traffic. About a mile or so before the speedtrap, the highway curves, and you can't turn without slowing down your momentum, unless you go smoothly across from the right side to the left side of the road at a gap where there are no barriers, which you'll see right where the curve begins.

In order to obtain the Bugatti Veyron for a good price, I suggest you go to the auction house and look for the car, then search through for an X class listing with a starting bid of 2 million, then inspect the stats. The higher the better. I got my second Veyron in an auction for 2 million and it came with superb tuning:
Speed 10, Handling 9.1, Acceleration 10, Launch 10, and Braking 9.4
For the record, the price at the autoshow is 2.2 million at stock condition. You can get cheaper with really awesome tuning included.
There are bids going for lower than 2 million but everytime I bid on them, someone raised the stakes and it always reached 2.2 million or even sold out at over 2.4... I have several theories for why this is, but either way you're pretty much guaranteed to get it if you pay the starting price of 2 million if the bid is about to end.
GOOD LUCK!

You'll need to purchase the Bugatti Veyron from the Auto show or the Auction House. Simply post a time of 258 MPH on a speed trap. Once you post that time or better the achievement will unlock.

The car costs 2,200,000 kr. at a car showroom.
You can try to save money and buy it at auction; they sell it quite often at a price of 1 to 2 million kr.
