To unlock this achievement you simply need to participate in Team Adventures until you reach level 5. You don't have to join a team or a club to unlock this.
To access this mode from the Pause Menu simply navigate to Team Adventure > Unranked Team Adventure
It will probably take you 10-15 games to reach level 5. You also get an extra 5,000 XP for winning, which really helps.
You can choose any of the three playlists (Racing, Games or Anything Goes), however your level is separate for each playlist, so once you pick one, stick with it until you reach level 5.
Personally I picked Anything Goes, you get more variety by participating in both Races & Games but the choice is completely based on preference.
Participation does matter, if you aren't contributing you will earn much less XP than if you were! Most of the game modes are straightforward but since this is an achievement solution I'll list some tips:
Freeroam Race
There is no checkpoints here, so look at the map before the race starts and just try to get a direct route to the finish, don't worry about following the roads or GPS at all.
Flag Rush
When defending the easiest way to deny points is camping the zone, or camping the spawn.
King
When you get slowed the idea is you tag in another person on your team. Many people don't seem to realise this.

Hopefully as people get the achievement they'll start to play with some more sportsmanship, but for the sakes of an achievement guide, camping the flag is an effective strategy to win (and thus reach level 5 quicker).

So I've done unranked adventure up to level 3 so far, which opened ranked adventure. Now I want to do ranked for that achievement. Does the ranked progress count towards this as well?

Yeah I heard there were some issues with the ranked matches, I haven't tried it yet. Plan to tonight though. If it doesn't work, I'll come back to both these achievements later.

cant stress enough that once you get to level 3 you need to start going for the ranked achievement as well ... you have to do 10 of these fucking adventures and its aids as hell ... seriously what games ranking system requires you to do 50 fucking things to place you ???? thats the most obnoxious thing ive ever heard of

With the state of the ranked matches, it would probably be less stressful concentrating on race only. Then it's a choice of either finishing this achievement, or switching to ranked at level 3.

Can you guys recommend a tuning template for races? In an A Series Race for example I choose a top ranked car but still I am in last place right after the start in no time. The other guys are far ahead, wondering what I am missing here as I didn’t choose a slow car in terms of acceleration and top speed, still not a chance

I just got the achievement. It's not hard at all to find events but it's almost impossible to stay in the events because of disconnects and loading screens that won't stop.

Yes there are extreme waiting times between rounds @Aleran I have to wait like 10 minutes between rounds. I hope the devs are aware of this and hopefullly a fix comes soon.

Anyone else having connection issues!?!? Do 3 or 4 races then disconnects!? Nothing wrong with my wired internet connection! Get 0 influence then as you have to complete the fucking series! Wasting so much of my time trying to get this!

I just unlocked this. The servers were stable for me, I never got dropped from an event, but sometimes it took a very long time to transition from one race to the next one. If it seems like the game has frozen—it hasn't—just wait. One time I probably waited 10 minutes.
The estimate of 10-15 events to reach level 5 seems accurate. I never came in 1st place in the championship and it probably took me ~12 events.
I did Free-for-all racing. I'm not sure if this was better or worse than Playground games. I tried to find the race events that were 3 races vs the 5 race events but really you just have to get lucky.
It would be good if someone could comment on the amount of time required for a race event vs a games event and the amount of XP earned for each.
