How to unlock the A Royal Affair achievement in Forza Horizon 5 - Definitive Guide

I made a blueprint for this achievement.

Press start, scroll to Creative Hub, click EventLab, Event Blueprints, Search, and enter the share code 165 050 941.

*EDIT*
According to Trych Master, if you take a photo of your car at the start of the race (without any driving), the achievement should unlock.

Drive until you see the banners next to the cliff and take a photo including your car, the cliff, and butterflies in the sky.

You want to get close to the rocks. If it doesn't work the first time, try readjusting your position. You can use any car for this achievement but the Bronco or Trailcat are your best bet due to the terrain.

Some people are saying they have to go to the top of the cliff for it to unlock. If the banners don't work, give that a try. Some locations are working for some people and not for others so this is a bit of a finicky achievement.

Tried taking multiple photos, the sky was still dark when I begun and stopped it was almost midday. No achievement. Used the same car and same spot. Some achievements in the game are VERY inconsistent.

It didn't work for me from the spot shown in the image, for the achievement to pop I had to drive up to the top to be closer to the butterflies and take the photo there, the blueprint still turned out to be very helpful, thanks!

It didn't unlock for me until I took a picture of my car between the 2 banners WITHOUT adjusting the camera at all. You can only see the car and a few rocks on the picture but the achievement unlocked. Thank you! :)

I randomly unlocked this when I bailed on a Danger Sign to photo a car with the camera icon above it driving past me. Didn't even notice a hotel or butterflies. My own car was nowhere near the photo as I had to 'fly' back to find the other car and never faced my own car.

I missed the correct spot on my first attempt, so if it doesn't pop, try also restarting the event as too much in-game time may have elapsed for you to receive it since it as to be at "sunrise."

Just to share my experience, I also tried multiple positions while on the marker, didn't unlock. Drove to the top of the cliff and got it after a few tries. Still a +1

It took like 5 tries, and had to go to the top of the cliff & then it popped when I was zoomed in on the cliff and couldn't even see the vehicle. But it worked - so kudos - thanks for the solution!!

didn't work for me until I got the whole car in the picture, I kept trying to shoot it from low angles to get more of the butterflies and parts of the car weren't in the pic, then I drove right into the middle of the field with the butterflies and took a pic centered on the car and unlocked immediately

Had to drive on top of the cliffs (use the right side as a launch ramp) to get it to work. No zoom needed, just took it from a low angle

No driving necessary - at least that's how it worked for me.

As soon as the event began, I went into photo mode, swung back to my car, and took a snap. The cheevo popped straight away.

Can confirm that once the events press UP-Button and move your camera so you see the front of your car and the flying butterflies above. Press A for the screenshot and the achievemt will unlock.

Can confirm when start targets blueprint..do not move, hit up on the d pad and 180 the camera so that you see the front of your car for the picture. You will see the butterflies along with hot air balloons in the background. Easy no driving needed👌

Same here, started the event, it's a bit to the right for me if you're looking back 180, but you'll see little specks (butterflies) and the balloons, get those and the car in the pic and the achievement pops.

I followed the path to the banners, took some photos, it didn't worked. Then I followed the advice of not driving, pressing cn_up to enter photo mode, move to front of the car, took photo and it unlocked. I never saw butterflies though. Is it because I play in performance mode?

Seems like the butterflies don’t render while playing the game on Xbox Series S in Performance Mode, thus taking a picture without any butterflies unlocks the achievement.

Worked perfectly for me. The butterflies were behind me at the start of the track, so I just moved the camera to the front of the car and angled it up a bit.

It worked, but I nearly crossed the finish line without seeing the blue banners, so had to drive back. It worked when I parked on the black/yellow square (obscured by car in top photo). Although I never saw any butterflies, or even the hotel. Silly achievement, but easy.

Appreciate the feedback everyone. I honestly don't know why it's working for some people and not for others. My original solution was to go to the top of the cliff but most people said that didn't work for them.

Yeah, I tried about 3 times as per the instructions with no luck but it worked first time from the top of the cliff. I'm wondering if the butterflies need to be closer to the camera?

I couldn't see any butterflies, but I drove up on top of the cliff and randomly stopped and hit RB and it finally popped. Never saw a butterfly anywhere, so if they don't load for you, just drive around taking snapshots at the top of the cliff until it pops.

I can confirm that you don't need to actually drive anywhere. Right from your starting position, I took a picture of the front of my car (same view you'd have as if you were driving towards it) and it popped right away.

I have tried every way suggested here and others but can’t make this pop. I’m upset. Xbox rewards has the 500 points for clicking the punchcard, getting any forward 5 achievement and donating points. I clicked the punchcard, did the donations the clicked through the page to go get an achievement in for a 5, and I got it yesterday but it’s not giving me my 500 rewards points. It actually gave me the 50 extra daily points for an achievement but won’t kick the 500. I’m calling Microsoft.

Just unlocked with this share code. Took several photos at the start of the event, didn't do any driving.

I took a quick photo with RB, nothing. Rotated camera a bit and did again. I repeated several times. When camera was looking at the front of the car, achievement unlocked.

I found this worked best. No diving, straight to camera mode. The rotate the camera so you are taking a pic of the front of the car and you could see the butterflies in the sky behind

When you unlock the Cross Country races start the Las Ranas Cross Country race. Hit cn_up to go into photo mode. Taking a photo of your car facing towards the rear of the starting grid unlocks the achievement.

Can confirm. I always take a photo at the start of each race, and popped this last night on accident. Came here today to see if I could figure out why.

That's how I discovered it also Mada. Taking a photo front and back of the grid every race to work towards the achievement. Then thought to post a solution here to help people out.

I've edited the guide including Maka91's event that he setup for a race at dawn.

use that sharecode, start the event, go to photo mode and move the camera so you're in front of your car facing the butterflies behind you.

Working 5/17/23. I tried the code in the other solution but couldn’t get the photo to count. With this one just pressed up on the d pad the second the race started, got the front/whole of my car in frame with the butterflies and immediately unlocked.

I found the start of the race being the easiest. Share code is 182 638 460 if you don't want to make the event yourself. Take a picture behind yourself at the start.

I got it just by fast-travelling to the start of the Las Ranas race and taking a promo shot of the car right there, no race started. I don't think I reoriented the camera. Couldn't see any flutterbies and the hotel is not visible from this location. Sunrise must have happened not too long before, there were long shadows, but I wasn't quick, looks like there are a few minutes leeway to get this. As of right now it's the last day of Spring if that's relevant.

Press start, scroll to Creative Hub, click EventLab, Event Blueprints, Search, and enter the share code 470 590 392.
At the moment you start, Hit cn_up to go into photo mode. You have a plenty of butterflies behind you.

Easy achievement, you can also be generous and give it a kudos / like, which will get you another achievement called

You'd be wrong in thinking that the massive hotel structure in the south west is the Hotel Mirador Balderrama, in fact, the hotel in question is in the north east of the map, near the Copper Canyon.

The hotel is actually on the windy road to the north of the Foto Final Cross Country race and the Riviera Sprint, but where you want to head is where the arrow on the map for the hotel is putting (see below). Simply head there at sunrise and you'll see the monarch butterflies will be all over the place (they're there all day though). Take a photo when the sun is coming up, with your car and the butterflies in shot, and you'll get the achievement.

Open the menu, go to the creative section, then EventLab. There you press search (two squares on the gamepad). There will be many columns to search, we need to search by code (165 050 941). We loaded up and drove almost to the finish line, literally 10 meters before the final point, you turn the face of the car to the left towards the rocks. Turn on the photo mode and capture your car and the top of the cliff, butterflies will fly there. It doesn’t always work out the first time, several attempts and angles and the achievement is in your pocket.

It’s better to use the scheme 182 638 460, here right at the start you can turn on the photo mode, turn the camera around and take a photo, the achievement dropped on the first try. I tried it with rocks five times and nothing happened.
