Note that the rivals system doesn't care what your assist settings are. If you really struggle to do this, turn all the assists on and just manage the gas. The AI will handle 95% of the driving flawlessly. There may be a spot or 2 where it may get squirrely forcing you to let off the gas while it recovers. There also may be a spot or 2 where it gets too close to the wall and you'll need to actually steer out of it. A lap or 2 of just watching it drive will help you learn where it is failing to drive correctly.

Not sure why this has been down voted when it's working a treat and takes alot of pressure off getting a decent lap in!

Thanks, that greatly helped. The AI loves to drive really close to the walls, so close that a large off-road vehicle touched the walls. So a sport car is better, even on off-road races. And stay focus because even with AI things can go wrong quickly.

Maybe it’s been downvoted because the guide is trash, this doesn’t even work on at least half the levels cos the AI lines itself so close to the walls on parts of the map, it’s impossible not to hit it just by hitting the gas

I also had an issue with one of the Nexus sprint's AND one if the Ice Hazard courses not tracking. Tried switching car classes, posting a "flagged" lap (hit the barrier/sides) while completing a race, and then going back into that race with the latest car class and posting a clean lap.

worked for both glitched courses. posting here to show it's still glitched, but doable 12 Sept '22.

Nexus is the only one I have left and I’ve done all four classes with a mixture of dirty and clean laps. I’ve probably done about 20 clean laps now, I just can’t get the game to recognise it.

Just a heads up that unlike pretty much every other achievement in this DLC, there's no achievement tracker for this one, probably because the mission in-game doesn't have a tracker either. I was worried that it was glitched or something, but it popped without an issue.

For the Nexus route. I went down the X class secondary missions in order and pinned them as i went along. Seemed to always get them straight away and didn't have to replay unless I had to reset the lap for flagged time.

Good solution, actually trying to help people who are finding this tricky (those used to being able to use Rewind). Most importantly turn on the racing line - this will turn red if you are going too fast and need to break. From the votes and the feedback, I think some people wanted you to complete the races for them.

Rivals is available not long after starting the DLC. This means you can chip away at it, no need to leave all 18 races to the end.

As Zaymont mentioned, you can track your progress in-game. At Legend Rank there is a minor mission for each Rivals track.

I made a support ticket on support.forzamotorsport.net regarding track Nexus not unlocking. The answer was that this is a known issue (though it is not listed in the known issues list) and will be fixed in a future update.

I think I'm haveing a slightly different problem.
For me with," Ice canyon hazard sprint", the game won't let me upload my clean time to the leaderboards. I get a message saying "Could not connect to upload to rivals leaderboards" (or something along them lines)

I have tried so far on both Xbox and the cloud, with the same message. Still yet to try pc 🤞

*Edit* the game registered and uploaded the clean lap first time on PC

For those that are unsure what Rivals is, or how to access it:

From the pause menu, under the “Hot Wheels” tab you can click on “Hot Wheels Rivals” to access and start a rivals race.

You can also drive up to a race icon on the map and press

and click “Rivals” to start a rivals race on that specific track.

Rivals is different from a normal race, it is where you try to set the fastest lap using a specific vehicle class. Rewinding or hitting a wall will “flag” your lap (flagged laps do not count towards the achievement), the goal is to post a clean lap for every race for the achievement to pop.

Man, why is it racing games force me to race. 18 laps that take about 2 minutes each is a ridiculous amount for just one achievement. All I want to do is dress up my avatar and have them do stupid dances.

Would add it's easier to pick lowest class and your car with the best handling rating. When in doubt, hit the brakes. Most frustrating thing is having to restart because of some carelessness.

oh also i guess it's not mentioned but noone has ever said this
you don't have to beat the ghost that you're rivaling with, all that matters is to make a clean lap without any collisions or rewinds,
so my best advice is to drive at your own pace. make 1 clean lap and quit the event, it will count as soon as you exited.

Some useful tips when going for this....

You must be Legend rank as I am sure the achievement is tied to the corresponding accolade that is only unlocked at that stage.

Use a car you're comfortable with that has good grip, predictable handling and not a huge amount of power to minimise the chance for losing control, I used the Andretti Beetle at S1 867 to do them all.

Just be careful above all else, brake early into corners and use the brakes if you're ever not sure or feeling entirely comfortable, it's better to go around a track in 2 minutes than push the car for a 1:45, mess it up and have to do another lap.

It's not working for me at some tracks...

Keep in mind that a clean lap will always beat a dirty one, so ignore your rival and take it slow. That said I did it all in a S2 class so you don't risk gravity messing with you on lower speeds.

A good tip if your like me and got frustrated with the Goliath you can use auto steering and breaking for a cheap easy time :) just feather the throttle and you won’t hit a wall

If your missions aren't counting, go back and double check the board in question. I had previously set a flagged lap time on one track and then changed some settings and went back and set a slightly slower, but clean one. It didn't post the clean lap because it was slower, so I had to beat my old time and make sure it was clean to get the board to update and the mission to unlock.

It looks like cars, that were added at a later date (e.g. Audi A4 Avant or Ford Mustang Mach-E) won't work. You can't set a time with them. Both cars won't finish any of those missions or set a rival time for me.

Same as @koolkong94, if my time is slower, occasionally I have to do it again. Does eventually track but a bit annoying.

I've noticed a very annoying bug where sometimes it just keeps driving with no HUD after a lap and it doesn't do anything for 10+ seconds. If it does this, it isn't counting your race for the medal and you need to do it again. Time doesn't seem to matter.

They should be ashamed and fix this garbage. My problems so far:
+ some cars can't be used, because they never set times
+ beating it flawless won't count if you're slower than a rival that crashed for sprint races (circuits do count)
+ server errors that void the run i just did
+ or nothing at all...
And i bet they fix the level 100 online thing before they (if they ever will) fix that pos

Sonic6L no it doesn't track in the achievement itself so don't worry, use the minor accolades for tracking it.

They really should have just put 'complete that particular main accolade' as the achievement description because that's what the achievement seems to actually be based on for unlocking.

You don't have to beat the rival, I was slower than my own ghost that had a clean time in 1 of them and the accolade still unlocked for that course.

VI Green VI you do these in Rivals, not races.

You can actually beat rivals before you get to the legend, when you’ve got to the legend medals for rivals you already beaten will open automatically

Make sure that when using auto-steering you turn off "Hot Wheels stunt steering assist". Having both of them on unavoidably drives the car into the side of the track on most rival laps!

There’s 18 tracks in the hot wheels rivals section… so does that mean just post a clean time on all 18 tracks then?

I've had 4 instances of completing a clean lap, but the splash screen is very slow to come up. My car just auto drives (without bumping anything).

In these instances I am NOT given credit for the clean lap. Incredibly frustrated with this game's ever-growing bug list.

I do three things and haven't had an issue since (before only 1/3rd of laps would count to this for me). I pin the task which likely doesn't help at all, I use a vehicle that is in the base game from launch, and I stop before the line for a second or two and then roll over it. That hasn't failed me yet in the 14 I've done straight since the issues.

No matter what car I start with, the Rivals Event starts out as flagged (with the exclamation point) on the Lap Time. I have probably started the Dragon's Fall Speed Circuit Rivals event in 10 different cars by now, and have done clean laps 5+ times in those cars.

Edit: Earlier in the week I was doing Drift Zones, and had set the Offline Game Speed to 80%. I forgot to revert it back, so that's why it was flagging the lap. Setting game speed back to 100% fixed my issue.

@ANGEL X DESTINY... You do not need to win at all. Just simply complete a lap etc without hitting anything that will invalidate your lap. You know when it's invalid - a yellow notice will appear on your screen. If you don't see this then you're good and can quit after doing a lap.

So I switched to another class on the same race to compete against a "dirty" lap, finished a clean lap and it registered after crossing the finish line.

Any car recommendations for the Canyon's Drop Hazard Sprint? I've tried this 6 times with 5 different cars, every one of them on that second big jump loses it's mind when it hits the landing and smashes into the wall, nothing I can do to prevent it. Need a car that will stick the landing and not go jerking left or right on me automatically. thx!

Just adding another tip, this solution seemed to be the best one for it.

Unlike most of the other accolades, this one is NOT retroactive. I set a clean lap for every rival track before reaching Legend rank before checking a solution (wondering why it didn't unlock). Other accolades like finding collectibles, roads, finishing events, etc unlock the moment you reach the required rank. This one does NOT. All 18 Rivals events need a fresh clean-lap time posted AFTER you have reached Legend rank.

You have to do them from the Hot Wheels Rivals menu, even if you set a clean lap during a normal race and it shows on the leaderboard it doesn't actually count towards the achievement or unlock the accolades.

I had a couple laps where the car kept driving W/O HUD, like some mention above, not sure if all failed (or got flagged) but I did watch my car collide after finishing the lap, and that lap was either gone or flagged. So for the high speed finished, brake before the line to minimize that risk.

I was able to finish this using the Exomotors Exocet Off-Road FE 2018 using Trigger Militia's tune 462-836-239, this will make it an A800 rank

Just enough speed to be forgiving on the tight corners, but still fast enough to not make the races a slog. Do be careful on the Goliath race, there are some sections in the jungle area where the bank of the track is a little much for the car and you will drift toward the inside wall if you aren't paying attention.

I also had no issues if I did not beat the rival (most of them were not clean laps anyway so maybe that's why it passed?).

This is just a guide for if you are lazy and want to use the auto-steering feature on the Hot Wheels Goliath for an easy win. You do have to get a win, but this will be using a B class car so most players have an awful time on the rivals lap.

To do this use the following difficulty settings:

Braking: assisted
Steering: auto-steering
Traction control: on
Stability control: on
Shifting: automatic
Hot wheels steering assist: off

Use the following car with no upgrades:
Manufacturer: Can-am
Model: Maverick X RS Turbo R 2018

Then simply rubber band your controller and this will be done in under 10 mins.

EDIT: As it states at the top of the post this is only for the HOT WHEELS GOLIATH man I really didn’t think I’d have to say this twice on one post.
