Okay the basics are: You're gonna do a single challenge per car, 146 times.
There should be exactly 146 cars in the game by default, including free sample DLC. Unicorn, special edition and DLC cars do count, however. So if you're like me and have purchased the season pass you'll have frankly a huge list of extra cars to choose from, a grand total of 211 if you have every single one.
So that being said, the most effective way of doing this is by following all the other achievements first along with this, so consider this a guide for those as well!
Anyway, pretty much all challenges can be done around the heart of Colorado near the shops. Nearly all of the easiest challenges have you either drift, burnout, near miss, jump or a doing a few(2,3 or 5) of those at a specific length(Great/Ultimate, the likes). This really won't take you longer than two or three hours in total if you've got a massive backlog of DLC like I do.
But I'm writing it so that only a handful of DLC vehicles are necessary, if you do have the DLC for any of the achievements and don't feel like coughing up money for a default car that you can do for cheap with a DLC car, just tick one off and consider it whatever you're driving! :D
Also, a checklist for you guys!

I'm told there's 9 BMW's in the base game but ultimately I'm only able to find eight, not counting the M3 GTR. I've checked multiple lists around and it keeps going back on 8 with the M3 GTR being 9 and then there's two DLC cars. Just be sure to grab the free BMW M3 GTR sample from the Top Gear pack. Also one of the cars has to be found as a Barn Find.

If you have got access to neither, you'll have to score one of the DLC Lamborghini's; 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante or 2012 Lamborghini Aventador J. Personally I'd suggest the Aventador J as it's valued at 2.7 million ingame which is another step closer to the It's Just Money achievement.

The tough choice really now relies on you wanting to purchase DLC cars and get the last bunch faster and cheaper in-game, or purchase the remaining cars in the game for between 125k and a million.

You need to earn at least one medal in 146 different cars. Press up on the D-pad to see the requirements for the medals.
Beware, although some cars are free to download, they still need to be purchased in game with either in-game credits or real money (MS Points), but that is the case for every car.
Unicorn cars
I do not include "unicorn" cars as free as you need to earn them and they are extremely rare, so most gamers will not have access to them.
Barn discovery cars
Barn discovery cars are available in the main game, but you have to progress through the story and multiplayer, to have them appearing on your map. Then you have to find them in the barn (wrecked). You have to wait until they are fixed before you can use them. There are 9 Barn discovery cars.

This achievement can be won without buying any additional DLC. There are 136 cars on the disc (not including unicorns). The 1000 Club expansion comes with two cars; each monthly car pack includes a free car (seven in total); plus there's the free Honda car pack (three cars). That's 148 cars. Discard the two you like the least, and drive the other 146.
Of course if you have the VIP and LCE cars then you're already at 146.
Edit: The free Meguiar's FR-S that was given away on May 3 doesn't count as a different car; it shares its challenges with the on-disc FR-S.

Nice. Unfortunately you DO need to buy the November Car Pack to earn a couple of the other achievements.

Yes, that's true. The November Bondurant car pack is needed for the BMW, Lambo, Nissan, and Shelby achievements (or at least that pack is the cheapest way to earn them). Then the October, December IGN, or April TopGear pack, or Rally expansion is needed for the Ford achievement, if you don't own the LCE.

"Faith of Faye" has gone the long mile and detailed a great solution, but I think it's worth covering this from the point of view of somebody that doesn't have a season pass or a limited collectors edition, so you can get a 'feel' for what you might have to do.
Firstly I own the main game, the rally pack DLC, and free vehicles to download (as of 6th May 2013) and I've 100% comleted this prior to this DLC. To complete this "free" DLC I've had to spend 400 MSP to purchase the "November Bondurant Pack", this contained all the missing cars required. I haven't purchsed anything else but I've been "given" 4 or 5 cars by the "forza community", whatever that is, which conceivably may help with the achievements; I can't be sure. If you've had the game since launch there's a good chance you are in the same boat as me, no pre-orders, just the vanilla game, rally pack dlc and any freebie that's been awarded by the community.
IMO it's probably not worth going after this DLC unless you've also finished the game 100%; you need all the barn finds and a monster stack of cash unless you want to spend a ton of MSPs on DLC. Personally I hardly ever bought any cars during the main game, just what was needed to complete it, and in the end I had to spend 25 million on car purchases to complete this SDC.
Money is important - you get 50% for a trade-in (Note: to sell cars, when in the auto show room, scroll left to the "$" symbol which allows you to trade-in a vehicle, for 50% of the price you purchased it for), therefore to spend 25 million you're going to need around 12.5 million at the onset (possibly as little as 10 million depending on what cars are already in your garage). Do not specifically go after the "It's Just Money" achievement, that will drop out naturally when you purchase expensive ferraris and lamborghinis and when you drive your barn finds.. if you ignore this you may well end up spending money on a car you didn't need which could prove costly.
For comparison I had 17.7 million before starting this DLC, and I only had to sell a handful of the most expensive cars to cover the shortfall. I accumulated this by completing the game and the rally pack with a difficulty of 80% bonus (just breaking line for me, steering wheel and manual for the rest). To my mind that puts the base game at around 10 million, so a bonus multiplier of 25-30% is going to be needed to accumulate the required 13 million or so, either that or a lot of rivals races are going to be needed :)
It's taken me about 6.5 hours of actual game time to clear all the DLC achievements, and after clearing all the other achievements in this DLC I was left with about 33 cars in my garage that I owned but had left to drive, after driving all of these I was left with 36 cars to purchase, which I did at a cost of approx. 3 million (so I'd spent approx. 22 million on the other achievments).
I've also uploaded a picture of a map which has got some useful information on the best places to smash things up or get air etc which can save you lot a time perhaps - it's all about just cranking the handle on this achievement (and DLC), if you have the cars and the dollars.
(I was expecting the image to appear, but if you click on the text and view picture it seems to work just as well).

Those guys have covered it extensively, so i just wanted to add some things to save time.
- i found purchasing cars through the 1000 club menu to be the easiest way to filter the cars you need. If you continue shopping you can go by each cheev required too which is handy.
- going through the menu to change cars drops you at dax's garage and i did 90% of the medals in that area. There are some you may need to go a couple of roads over for some signs ect. But most of it i did close.
- start with the cheapest cars first to stretch your money.
- download the add on for the 1000 club before you start or early in the game if possible. That way by the end you will have accumulated heaps already.
So yeah. Just thought this info could help.

This will be the last achievement you earn. Basically a medal in every car of the game (excluding DLC). This can be very time consuming if you don't plan on selling cars, but if you have a system of buying, getting a medal, then selling it is not too bad.
