How to unlock the 1,000,000 Online Credits achievement in Forza Motorsport 2 - Definitive Guide
The fastest way:
Make the fastest car in-game, download the setup in the leaderboards for the Ford GT 40. Make the fastest car, it has 3 gears and has a topspeed of 411km/h (+/-255mph).
Make a lobby on the Nissan speedway. Wait for 7 people and put the laps on 25, 50 or 75. Almost everyone will quit the race because it's very boring. You can finish the race easely. Now you get get pretty much credits (+/- 270.000 for 75 laps with 8 people). It's boring but it's the fastest way.
To get more credits: Put all the assists off! This will give you a big bonus. You don't need them so this will give you lots more of credits.
Warning: If you put everything off. Be sure you never hit a wall. And don't forget to change your tires and fuel!
[EDIT 12 June 2009]:
Someone asked how to download the car options. Go to the "Leaderboards" and view the best times on the "Nissan Test Track." From some players you could download the setup (not very much players does have a downloadable setup). I thought you had to press "X" to download their setup. Now you get their tuned options and a upgrade list. You have to buy all upgrades conform that list.
NOTE: There are different setups you can download. Not every setup is that fast. So look for the best!
I'am sorry for the bad english.

Very good. Thx.

By the way, 411kph is roughly 255mph (not 350). Your video also shows that it can be tuned to go well above that, but unfortunately not to the 350 number you stated. Just didn't want anyone killing themselves trying to tune it to get to that speed.

Certainly not the fastest way, but if you have a solid internet connection and some patience this will work for you.
This method takes about 10 hours of racetime in 1 race. The good news is that you can walk away for hours at a time. When I did this my total race time was over 24 hours.
Get 7 friends to join a this race:
Gametype - Circuit Race
Track - Nordschleife
Number of Laps - 75
Damage Type - Cosmetic
Tires and Fuel - Off ***VERY important!!
I used a 2004 Audi #5 Audi Sport Japan Team Goh R8. Any R1 car will do. (Edit: Make sure its a 10.0 Rarity car.)
For assists:
Suggested Line - Full
Anti-Lock Braking - ABS Off
Traction - TCS On (Makes getting back on the road easier)
Stability - STM Off
Shifting - Automatic
With 8 players it will say you get a baseline of $825,000. Wait 10 seconds or more and your friends can all drop out of the match leaving you alone.
This is the Nurburgring Circuit. Its almost 13 miles per lap. When I started I was completing laps (not including penalty time) about 8 minutes even. After 15 laps I was down to 7:45. In the end I was doing about 7:20-7:30 a lap. 75 laps will take about 10 hours at that pace. Comments are more than welcome if there are much faster cars to use.
At the end of the race you will receive $1,072,500. Achievement in 1 online race.
If you need to do a silly thing like sleep, eat, or go to work/school and you have a solid internet connection, and a Plug'n'charge cable, plug it in and put the controller down. As long as your Xbox Live Connection is uninterrupted your game will be uninterrupted when you get back.

One thing I'd like to add here is (if you're not already doing this) you need to make sure the Auto-Off option on your console is set to OFF. You'll need to do this before you start the race; otherwise, you won't be able to take a break of more than six hours for work, sleep, etc.
I just got this achievement. I did a 7-player race and earned $938,000 after all bonuses (I used the #12 F333). The base for the race with 7 players is $721,900.

Just wondering, THEICEMANCOMETH, you mean 7-player race including you or not?

Definitely the fastest way to do this is the Nissan Speedway.
Here's a tune for the Saleen S7, I got it from forzamotorsport.net. All credit goes to TomCat7.
I did find this car quite a bit more drivable than the GT40, it's actually not too bad with all assists off.

I ran this achievement with Roy and can vouch for the tune he has listed above for the Saleen. Although it's not quite as fast as a max-tuned GT40 in terms of perfect laptimes (only a second or so in it), the car does seems much more stable and consistent, and resistant to the twitchy handling that is inherent with the GT40. Once you factor in the occasional spins you will get with a GT40, there's really not much in it. Considering you're going to have to >375 laps of the speedway (that's an absolute minimum, if you are lucky enough to get 5x75 lap races with a full 8-person lobby), having an easy to drive car is perhaps a better solution!
Couple of other things to add - Go for simulation with tyres and fuel, but just have cosmetic damage as any crash will wipe out your spoilers which is a total nightmare at the speeds you need (they won't get repaired even if you pit - that's just the mechanical damage). Also make sure you turn off all the driving aids. No ABS, no driving line, no stability control, etc. There's obviously not much point in auto gears when you're not dropping below 200 mph ;) The only one I ever considered in my GT40 was TCS (Traction control) and this only helped you to get off the line. For the extra 5 or 10% cash, better to switch even this off and just crawl off the line in 5th gear :D
All of the extra bonuses these bits and pieces add really add up, and they don't make a great deal of difference to the drive if the car is well tuned. Good luck, and don't forget to pit for fuel after 20 or so laps!!

If you have 2 xbox's this is easy first off this was my last achievement and I didn't fancy spending forever and a day getting it waiting for people to help ,firstly get 2 copy's of forza 2 there really cheap nowadays probably get both for a fiver now ,second set up a second account on silver so you get a months gold for free ,
Third. Set up a game with your main account on the Nissan speedway 75 laps damage off and use the Ferrari 512TR only then invite your other account when the race starts put an elastic band round your right trigger to make the car go forward and put your car into the wall so the car will go round the circuit on it's own using the wall and speed
Basically if you do it right you can set up a race and leave the car running on it's own it'll take a while to do each race but your not doing the race it's doing it's itself and you can get on with what you were doin ,also make sure you use a wired pad or connect a plug and play to stop your xbox goin into away mode
Also the Ferrari 512tr is the only car I found that would go round the circuit on it's own
Hope this helps

In addition to all the other solutions, you can keep track of how many credits you have won online.
Go to the main menu --> Career --> Press RB
At the bottom in the stats section on the first page will show how many credits you have won playing online.

I know this place is already saturated with solutions, but here are a few things that the other solutions have neglected to mention:
Car Rarity: Occasionally, even though your car rarity is at 10.0, you will be getting 0 for car rarity bonus. There has been a lot of speculation about the reasons behind this. Some say it is because you are using an Asian car at Nissan Speedway, some say you are using a car of the same nationality as you currently are... the list goes on. What has worked for me personally and a few others is to pick a car, and upgrade it yourself (e.g. engine upgrades, tire upgrades, front/back bumpers, etc). That way, it'll boost whatever Car Rarity your car is already at, and I *think* it should guarantee your Car Rarity bonus. Let me know otherwise, and I will change this solution.
Car choice: I know a lot of people like the GT40, but I personally do not like it. A friend of mine suggested the use of the Enzo. With all the upgrades, it has a respectable 8.4 top speed and the handling is up there at around the 8 range, which is quite amazing. For the most part, you can get away with flooring it, and maybe letting off the gas for a second or two for a sharper turn.
Number of races: Ideally, you want to get this done with 8 players, and that should net you around $270,000 per race. I have not personally had the luxury of having 8 people around every time I've done this. This means, if you have 8 people every time, you'll have to do 4 races.
Realistically speaking, however, allowing room for error, 5 races is a good target. If you turn off all assists and turn on all the damage/tire wear/fuel, you will be getting a whopping 35% bonus. And with only 6 racers (including yourself) you will be getting $210,000 each race (assuming you also get the car rarity bonus). So obviously, if you're low on people or otherwise, it is advantageous to turn off all assists and turn damage on.
That being said, DO NOT FORGET TO PIT. If you do, your tires WILL pop at approximately 90% damage and your car will cease to be able to move. I had this happen to me on the 69th lap, but was luckily close enough to the pit stop for the car to autodrive in.
Also, do not be afraid to let up on the gas. You would much rather slow down like.. 10mph than pass up a few thousand credits by smashing into a wall.

Get 7 other ppl, 8 player room, multiplayer career match, 75 laps on nissan speedway, all assists off, damage set to cosmetic, tire & fuel consumption off, pick a 1966 ford gt or a saleen s7 for a smoother ride. Start, 7 others quit, race for 45-55 minutes & you'll get over 250k, do this 3 more times & make sure to return the favour.

I tried Gold Rush NL's method, but I couldn't seem to get the GT 40 to stay under my control. It still got me the fastest race times, but at the expense of some frustration. If the GT 40 works for you, by all means use it. But if you're having some trouble controlling the car, here's what I did:
Car: Chrysler ME Four-Twelve. It looks like you can purchase it from the car shop for 250K, but I'm not sure when it is unlocked. Also, you MUST be using the car from your garage! If you don't, you run the risk of losing the 10.0 rarity bonus, which adds a decent number of credits.
Upgrades: All of them (if you have the money). Start off with upgrading the tire compound--you'll want the increased grip before you upgrade the engine.
Tuning:
Pressue: 28psi front, 27psi back (this will keep the tires close to 32psi during the race).
Gearing: 2.56 (FD), 3.40, 2.30, 1.71, 1.36, 1.12, 0.99. A slightly faster gearing should also work (maybe 5th and 6th gears at 1.11 and 0.97 respectively).
I didn't really bother with much else besides that, but changing other settings might help keep your car under control a bit easier.
Now onto the race settings. On the Nissan Speedway, 75 laps should net you base winnings of about 40K, 60K, and 80K for two, three, and four people in the lobby, respectively. Having the ME Four-Twelve or any other 10.0 rarity car will net you around 14K (I don't believe having more racers makes this higher).
Damage: Cosmetic. Unless you want to run the risk of losing close to your entire difficulty bonus on one slip-up or are confident of your driving abilities, you'll want this on.
Tires and Fuel: Simulation. With this setup, you'll have to pit every 20 laps. If you don't you almost certainly WILL run out on the 21st lap, and might end up limping into pit lane.
Line: Off. You really can be all over this track and still be fine.
ABS: Off. You shouldn't have to brake too much here.
Traction and Stability: Off. The ME Four-Twelve is a very controllable car from 3rd gear up. You shouldn't need either, especially if damage is off.
Shifting: Manual. Unless you really can't deal with manual transmission, this is an easy way to add some points.
Bonus: 25%
In conclusion, I was able to get about 60K from a 2p race, over 80K for 3p, 130 for 4p, and 170 for 5p. I didn't have to brake for the turns at all, and each race took between 50 and 55 minutes. Good luck, and I hope this helps!

Because the Auction House is now closed and this achievement is known to be discontinued...
It is unknown how long the online part of this game is going to be active. Therefore I recommend you get this achievement done sooner than later.
The best way into getting this achievement is the Join & Quit Method. This will require you to get a group of people and invite them into your lobby. When your game starts, the players who have joined will quit and then once you have completed your race, you will gain the same amount of Credits as if the player had stayed for the complete race.
The problem you'll have when doing this achievement is getting people to join your lobbies. For that reason alone I recommend you create/join a few boosting sessions to get credits and build respect.
Traditionally the way the session would work is that one person would have their race, and then everyone else can quit and go and play something else. When I did this game though, I came up with an alternative idea.
When people joined my sessions, I actually allowed everyone to get credits towards this achievement. It is very simple, first you need to create an XBox Live Party and invite the players who have joined your session in the party. Discuss with the team in which who would like to wait for their turn. Once decided the person who hosts the session (if he/she is playing), will create a game and invite everyone to it. Allow everyone to join and then start your race. Once they have their game up and running, everyone can quit.
Now the next person can host their game and invite everyone into it. Simply rinse and repeat this method until everyone apart from the last player gets their race.
The lonesome player who will be the last one that doesn't have a race will play another game, but will stay in the XBox Party. In some cases it may have to be yourself who needs to play the waiting game.
Once everyone has completed their races, the last player who didn't have a race can host a race, and invite everyone who has done a race in, allowing them to get credits as well as the ones who have got credits. It's only fair. Additionally with this method now that everyone else has completed a race and still in a party, you can discuss with the team and ask around if anyone wants to do another race.
Believe it or not, some players actually like doing 2 or 3 of the 75 Lap Races in one session.
If your wondering how you do the turn order for the session, I recommend you do it in the order of the people who has joined the session. Sometimes though you may have someone who joins your session that already has the achievement. If this is the case, then you don't have to worry about people going off and playing another game and returning later. This can also be all resolved if someone has a dummy account, and another copy of the game.
OK... I get your point, so how do I create a race?
When it's your turn to host a race, you need to go into Multiplayer, then click Career and then click Create Match (Exhibition is a Player Match, and Career is a Ranked Match). Select the track and the amount of laps you want to do, and then once you have chosen a car you'll have your lobby, ready for players to join.
How should I set up a race?
The most important decision you'll need to do is decide what track you want to race on. For most players they choose the Nissan Speedway because it is an Oval track, and it's the easiest. It won't give you the biggest amount of credits per race, but it's also a track that doesn't require much effort to complete. 75 Laps around that track will take roughly 50 Minutes - 1 Hour.
The longest track in the game is the Nordschliffe (Nurburgring). This is a track that will put you to the test. It is said that it could take roughly 10+ Hours of playtime in order to complete 75 Laps. This would be the track that would give you 1 Million Credits straight away if you have 8 Players, but there are some setbacks if you choose this track.
Secondly apart from the track and laps, you'll need to make sure the maximum amount of players who join your game is 8. Additionally I recommend you put in the maximum Private Slots to 7, in case of randoms (this game is still popular).
Next I recommend you change your Damage Type to Cosmetic. The higher the difficulty, the more challenging it will be on the track as if you crash on a higher difficulty, you'll get penalties which will go towards the amount of credits you win. Obviously the higher the difficulty, the more credits you get when you complete the race, but unless you are a very experienced player in this game I strongly recommend you stick to Cosmetic.
Make sure Tires & Fuel are turned off, as if it's on you'll have to re-fuel your vehicle in the pits on a very regular basis. If your car runs out of fuel... you cannot finish your race and earn the credits.
Lastly for the Car Settings...
Suggested Line: Off - This will increase your Credits
Anti Lock Breaking (ABS): Off - This will increase your Credits
Traction: On - I had this on for better steering and grip, but turning this off will increase your Credits
Stability: Off - This will increase your Credits
Shifting: Manual - Manual will increase your Credits, but if you need some practice, you can always choose Automatic
Tip: Once you have sorted out your settings in the create menu, you can save it for future races. To do this press the Button to save your settings. You then need to give it name, and then it'll be saved. Then next time you host a race you can press to Load your previous saved settings, and then they'll automatically be ready for you... saving time and effort.
What Car Should I Pick?
If you have a car in the Career Mode, you can use that if it's a good vehicle. If that vehicle is Tuned and the Rarity is high (10.0), you'll get additional Credits. If you haven't got a good vehicle then the game allows you to choose pre-done vehicles.
Lobby
When your in your lobby, you'll need to invite the players that are helping you. I recommend a Party Invite to save time and effort. Let everyone join the race and select their cars. "DO NOT" Ready Up until everyone has ready up themselves. If you ready up whilst someone is still in a red circle, the race will start and anyone who is in a red circle will become a Spectator... Spectator's don't give you Credits.
Now whilst your in the lobby you should notice a Trophy and the amount of Credits you can get on the right side of the screen. This is an estimate of how much you'll get. It'll increase when another player joins. You can have up to 8 players in your own lobby. Now the reason this is an estimate is because if you have additional features such as a Tuned Car, Rarity, ABS Off, Manual and other features, these are all bonuses and will give you extra credits.
Also if you want to change something which you are not happy with whilst your in the lobby, you can do so by either pressing the or the Buttons.
One last thing about the lobby is that if the game is open and a random has joined your lobby, you can kick them.
Racing
Once you have got your players and started your race, you may go ahead and complete the track. I recommend to ensure the game is running smoothly, that everyone who has joined completes 1 Lap. After that lap the players who are not hosting can quit. Make sure that only the host is the one who is in the race getting the credits, because if a host quits the match, everyone will be kicked and return to the menu... wasting a game.
If your game is open and a random joins your lobby, they cannot enter the race you are doing. They would have to either wait for you to finish your race, or quit and find another one. I wouldn't worry about this as many of them get bored and quit afterwards.
How Much Credits Do I Get Per Race?
The more players that join your lobby, the more Credits you get. If there are only 2 of you and you do the Nissan Speedway track, you'll get roughly 40,000 - 55,000 Credits depending upon what features you have selected. 3 players on Nissan Speedway will give you roughly 60,000 - 80,000 Credits. 5 of you will get you 100,000 - 130,000 Credits, and then if you did have 8 of you on Nissan Speedway, you'll get 200,000 - 250,000 Credits. These are all 75 Lap amounts.
Nurburgring would give you 250,000+ Credits if you did 75 Laps with only one player joining your game. 8 Players would give you over 1 Million Credits.
Last Pointers
When you take turns hosting, I recommend you send out Party Invites so that everyone can join your lobby faster. If you are in a race though, do not accept the invite as that would remove you from your race, and you won't get any credits.
You can take a break whilst in the race at any time you want, since no-one else will be in your race. Simply apply the brakes and pull up in a corner, and go off and do whatever you want to do. When your ready to continue your race, simply come back and start racing again. Do not quit your own race, or you won't get any credits.
If you get disconnected at any time, whilst your in your race or lose XBox Live Connection, you will be returned to the main menu and you will not get any credits towards the race you are doing. This would include the Nurburgring track which is why doing 75 Laps on that track is extremely risky.
All of the Credits you earn online goes towards your Career Mode, allowing you to buy and upgrade your vehicles in the campaign. Additionally your car level will also be raised for completing the online races. I personally started at Level 2 and got to Level 28 when I finished.
If you want to find out how much credits you have got online, simply select Career in the Main Menu and press !
I wish you all the best of luck and happy racing!
The Car Broker achievement in Forza Motorsport 2 worth 43 pointsBuy or sell 10 cars online in the Auction House.
I just discovered a pretty much automated way to pop this achievement... in 2020. No special equipment required, (not even a wired controller!) & no prior setting up either. I read all other 10 solutions and none have any mention of this automated method.
Car: Chrysler ME Four-Twelve (U999)
Track: Nissan Speedway
Assists: Everything off + Manual transmission (This is the most important step)
Damage: Cosmetic
First, create a Career Race lobby under Multiplayer mode. Next, when it comes time to select your car, select the (U) class. Lastly, pick the Chrysler ME Four-Twelve.
Start the race after your boosting partner(s) have joined. Begin as normal. The idea here will be to wallride the whole race while in 3rd gear at full throttle. While holding the throttle (Right Trigger), pause the game (Start), let go of throttle (Right Trigger). You will notice that your car keeps on accelerating without you having to do anything.

I found the easiest way to do this was to NOT use the GT40 as it's a handfull and I've won many random online lobbies I've joined because people keep crashing them. Use something more stable like the saleen for the ME four-twelve and just relax, you only save less than two minutes doing it with the gt40 so it's not really worth the risk.
Now when setting up boosting session on the Nissan Speedway for 75 laps with all assists off and damage set to cosmetic, also turn collisions to off.
I highly recommend having 3 people stay in the match and having it agreed upon who is going to take what position. Set the finish timer to the max and then just finish in the order you are supposed to because second and third place still earn a considerable amount of money.
I've also found that turning fuel/tire wear to simulation is definitely worth the extra coin as even if you forget to fuel up the car will just start decelerating and you can easily coast to the pit from anywhere on the oval.
