How to unlock the Hardcore achievement in Forza Motorsport 2 - Definitive Guide

You can get this really easily on the Nissan Speedway track. Its in the 350 hp Invitational in semi-pro i think. Go to set difficulty and just turn everything up. Then race. You only need to worry about the manual transmission. When the tachometer get close to the red part hit B.

Yep, worked like a charm.

Only problem I had was I tried to upgrade my car first, without paying attention to the restrictions (or the title of the race -- 350hp Invitational = car must not exceed 350hp). Oops. Had to select another car and upgrade things *besides* the engine.

Popped this and "Natural" in one shot.

This works great, except it's in the manufacturer club races instead of Semi Pro.
Oval track makes it easy. No down shifting and really no turns, like posted above.

Must be within career only? Did it on exhibition but no luck. Couldn't adjust the difficulty either, only the Assists

This achievement doesn't work in the Arcade mode apparently.

OK, once you get up to around Level 10, you'll have a decent enough car (I had a 69 Fairlady tuned to a P.I. of >900). This'll be more than enough. Turn all the diff. mods to maximum, then pick the first track in the Proving Grounds Japanese Series. It's a very easy track (2 laps of what's really a slightly more complex rectangle). Even if you don't race at speed (you only need to do the straights in third gear and the main corners in second), as long as you don't make any huge errors and drive off the track, you should beat them by a fair margin, as they're all C/D rated.

Those of you with the Major Nelson XBL car should have no problem with this one, since it has a PI of 998.

This is exactly how I did it ... except I was level 40 and used a 999 car. Rarely had to shift (up or down) and stayed pretty much in 3rd gear the whole race. Like you said, if you make no huge errors you will easily win.

This can be obtained very easily. All you need to do is take either an S, U, or R-Class vehicle and do one of the training races with them. All the cars are the lowest class in the game, so even if you mess up on a turn or braking or go out of control, it will be no problem to just get back on the track and catch up. I suggest doing this on one of the Proving Ground tracks that has the fewest turns.

I just want to make a driving note for all that are struggling: When you are going to brake for turns, brake first and then shift down because if you don't, then the car will have smoke coming out of the back of your car and the other racers will pass you.
