How to unlock the Secret Collector 4 achievement in Forza Motorsport 2 - Definitive Guide

For all the driver level achievements and the collect car achievements all I did was hire the driver S Ito from Japan, (the other drivers that take a 55% cut work too but I just always used him) and let him race endurance races non stop while i showered, ate dinner, went to get gas, etc. with all the assits off but the difficulty on easy. this takes a long time but its much easier than playing this game for countless hours. The 55% cut drivers will win 95% of the time if the car is the best or 2nd best in the field. Then when you let Ito make all that money for you just go through the entire list buying cars. You will have to spend 100k the first time you switch regions and 500k to switch a 2nd time because some cars may only be purchased when you are in that specific region. I don't know how much it is to switch a 3rd time but im guessing its 1 mil. Therefore, you should make sure you get ALL cars from the region before you switch. ALL cars must be in your garage at once so dont sell the cars youve already purchased.

Hope this helps.

There's no reason to switch a third time, you'll begin in say Europe, switch once 100k to Asia, then 500k to USA and thats it.

Can you explain everything behind changing regions? Everything I need to know. I'm lost with it, but keep reading about needing to do it in these achievement guides.

@Xonatron: when you start career mode it makes you choose your home region. This will be Asia, Europe or North America. As your level increases you will receive discounts in your home region to buy new cars. It will also start unlocking cars within your home region. I guess certain cars will only unlock if they are sold in your home region. For example, if your home region is Europe a certain R1 type car will remain locked in Asia even when you complete all races and have reached level 50. In order to then unlock that car in Asia you would have to set Asia as your home region. To change regions simply press RB and then choose change region. Make sure you only do it once you have bought every car in your current region as it gets very expensive very fast to change regions

Important note wait till LEVEL 50 before switching. I did not do this and I am left with 1 car currently in asia I cannot buy as I switched (anyone want to gift me a Toyota GT-one for a bit :)) So just restate Do not switch to buy from other regions until level 50

Am i right in thinking someone could gift me all the cars and all the manufacture achievements would unlock or do they have to be purchased ?

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to stay in one region for as long as possible. I made too many jumps early in my career mode and by the time I had to jump back to Europe for the last 4 cars, I needed to pay 10 million credits just for the switch. Ouch.

Words of advice:

1) You will need 10M+ to get all of the cars. Based on my run, it will clock in at around 12M-13M. xDEEVIUSx puts a number it at 11,920,000 to buy all cars. Remember that money you spend on car upgrades is also more money you need to earn to buy every car, so spend wisely.
2) Only buy cars when you need to or wait until you have reached the level for the 50% discount on your current region's production cars. This will save a lot in the long run.
3) If you are concurrently going for the "All cars from (XXX country)" then some cars in the region will not unlock until you have finished virtually all of the races. You can see what it takes to unlock a particular car by attempting to buy it.
4) After you have won all of the races (after level 50) and you have unlocked/won all of the race cars, you will need to change regions twice to unlock some locked cars from the other regions. It will be 100,000 for the first region change, 500,000 for the second region change. Be sure you have bought all of the cars for your region before moving on, as to change regions a third time is 2,000,000, which is wasted money if you didn't plan correctly. A fourth region change is 10,000,000, which is about as much as you needed to buy all of the cars in the first place.
5) Make good use of the auction house to purchase cars you need for less than their retail price. Be mindful that the production and tuner cars in another region might be 50% less than their market listed price when you are in that region. Also, you will win many / most of the race cars by winning race series, so buying them in the auction house is a waste of money and effort. Theoretically you could buy all of the cars from another region through the auction house, but it is probably more time and effort to hunt all of them down than it is to just make the money and change regions at the right time.
6) If you are short on cash to buy the last of the cars, you can keep running the final Endurance race with a hired driver. Use a 55%-cut driver and set him up with a good car with all of the assists turned off, except keep the AI at easy and leave tire wear and gas off. The top race will net you around 175,000 per run and will finish in ~68 minutes.

For those who doubt this figure, my current lifetime earnings in-game are 13.2M, with 85K in the bank, and 43K from online. I bought and sold fewer than a dozen cars in the auction house, and probably lost money on the deal because I bought cars that I later won in races, and then re-sold them to get the duplicate out of my garage. I followed the method described here, and unlocked the achievement

just a little tidbit of info bout the region charge, if u don't get the cars from the other 2 regions & have to go back into them it's a 10million cr charge for each switch.

Indeed, it is a 10M for a fourth region switch, which makes a third and fourth region switch more money than it takes to buy all of the cars -- so a good plan saves a lot of time and money in the long run.

I'm finishing the last event as i type this, so now i have to buy all the cars. I got about 10M Credits at the moment.

But you said your run took about 12 to 13 Million, does that includes the cars you bought at the Auction House? I looked around there and all I could find are cars that are way more expensive than the normal buying price. So my question is, Does it take allot more money than you said to buy all cars?

Can't wait for Forza 4! :D
---
Btw. If you change region, do you also receive new cars for that region then?

@Kilerden You can buy all of the cars in the game in the market, but some of the cars are region-locked and can only be purchased when you are in that region, thus necessitating region changes and associated region change costs. I ended up finishing this achievement with my lifetime winnings in the 12M-13M range.

You can buy any car anyone has for sale in the auction house, but prices vary and auctions can run for a long time if cars keep getting up-bid. It is theoretically possible to buy all of the cars in the game via the auction house, but in practice this is probably more time-consuming than than a good focused and planned effort to obtain money and purchase the cars from the market.

You do not receive any cars when you change region, but the cars that are region-locked for that region become available.

Yeah, But my problem with the auction house is that everybody who still plays this, is incredibly rich. So all the cars are worth way more then in the store.

I've just spend 11 to 12 Million, Bought all the cars from Europe, made the region change to North America and bought most of the cars there. (still need to do Cheverolet, Dodge and 3 Ford cars.

I'm getting to think that i need twice as much to buy all the cars... (since I also need to do Asia next..)

But thanks for your comment :) I'll just keep on racing :p

You need to spend way over 20 mil to get all cars, not sure why you said 12-13 mil. But still thanks for the post :)

If you spent more than 20M, then you changed regions more than necessary or had some other unnecessary expenses. I popped the achievement at around 13M lifetime earnings, and my current work toward the 1M online achievement has not yet pushed me past 15M lifetime earnings. As my solution stated, properly-timed region switches and good use of 50% region and manufacturer bonuses keeps your overall costs down.

Like he said 'make sure you buy ALL your regions cars before you move on to the next region', it will cost approximately 11,920,000 to buy every car (not including upgrades and you may save money if you go to the auction house).

Started in Europe, only buying cars once they hit 50% discount until reaching lv50, had 10m in the bank & then bought all the cars remaining in Europe that weren't locked, now only have less than half a million left. If some are only spending under 12 million, then something would have to be missing from this solution

12 million is nowhere near enoughnto buy all cars, I just got to gold on all races and had 11,8 million credits, bought all european cars and all asian cars, switched the region to na and have under 200 000 cedits left...

just did the money glitch, and now I have spent another 5 million cr, so that totals at around 17 million, including all stock cars for 50% off and the region changes, hope that helps.

If you still have lots of upgrades installed, but don't need the car (with upgrades) anymore. You can sell your upgrades for some quick money.

To see what cars have upgrades, go to:
- My Cars
- Press X
- Go to the tab 'Parts Value'
- Press X to sort, and then Y to go to the Top and Bottom.
And see from which car you can make your money from!

I'm using the hired driver to do the last endurance race over and over again. So I don't really have any use for a Ferrari upgraded to level UUU. So you can sell the upgraded parts for some money! I got about 500.000 for selling all my upgrades. Saves some time :)

This is a great tip and exactly what I was thinking when reading the above solutions. I'm not sure if it is included in the other two solutions, I was skimming, but it should be. Saved me time and I didn't have to run as many endurance races with A.Garcia. ;)

For this achievement you have to have all the cars available in the game. A list is there for your use under this guide, but I recommend using the game as it is easier to keep track of the cars which you already have. All the cars must be in your garage at the same time, or it will not unlock.

For this chievo its obvious that you have to obtain all of the cars that are available through the standard release of the game. This will require you to change regions once you have reached level 50 at least twice in order to get all of the cars unless you buy them at auction. This is where the auction actually really comes in handy. You see, there are many people out there that need 1 or 2 cars from each region that are locked, no matter what their level, unless they switch to that region, which costs $100k, $250k and so on. Therefore a good way to make some cash is to sell the cars that are locked to others that are not in you region for the price that you could get another plus what they would pay to get that car if they were to switch regions and then buy it. So an R1 car that is only unlocked to your region should sell at auction with a buyout price of about $450k pretty easy and you just made $100k because you can just go back and buy a replacement for $350k. Plus the fastest auction you can do is 2 hours, just enough time to get a couple auto-piloted endurance races in for a few more $100k. I haven't got this chieve yet but this is the way I plan on doing it!

this solution is partly thankful too Skelebone XVI, IxSLAYxSNIPES and ViKTiM for ur solutions, guides and links

as of 25th nov 2012 the glicth to $999,999,999 has been fixed when u go back online and update it will let u send the car to ur main account but will only be worth the retail value. i tried on a third account and with the help from the above named gamers for their solutions ive worked away around the new update so that u can get 20 million cr
ok well this is my 2nd solution (wow alot i no lol)
u will need another account for this to work
1. the second account must NOT have played forza as the latest update which would of been installed will take affect and stop u glitching out on upgrades
2. disconnect ur xbox from xbox live, sign out of ur main account, load forza 2, sign in2 ur 2nd account
3. do the glicth as linked by lxslayxsnipes, THIS IS IMPOTANT DO NOT GIFT THE CAR AND DONT CONNECT BACK TO XBOX LIVE
4. sell the car which is on ur second profile for 999,999,999 cr
5.now re connect to xbox live (wot should of happened is instead of 999,999,999 cr you will only have 20,000,000 cr this is due to the latest update.
6. sign out of 2nd account and sign in2 ur main account
7. go and buy another vehicle, cheapest will do doesn't really matter which 1.
8. now go to the auction house, auction of the car which u brought (cheapest1) but set the buy it now price as 20,000,000.
9. sign bck in2 ur 2nd account and buy this car

i no its not 999,999,999 but it should b more than enough to get all the cars
also as Skelebone XVI said in their guide complete all races in career and dont buy any cars unless needed too. dont move areas untill the end due to the cost and only move twice
