How to unlock the Solid Gold achievement in Forza Motorsport 3 - Definitive Guide

As Highlander mentioned, get Season 6 complete then begin the grind. I used the play and charge cable to keep my wireless controller from turning off as I didn't have a wired one, and that worked just as well.

If you're fortunate enough to work at a desk with a dual-input monitor like me, then you can do this while you work! I bought the $5 VGA cable from monoprice.com and setup my Xbox behind the monitor (no need for sound). During lunch I started one of the endurance races, hired a driver and it was done by the time I got back (hour). The rest of the day I would switch to Xbox, setup a race, hire a driver then back to work.

Took me 2 weeks straight, so that's 8 hrs x 10 days = ~80 hours in addition to completing season 6. Don't worry about being online, our firewall blocked me. I just made sure I was online during the last race when the achievement popped, which was on the event completion screen (when you're given the cash) after I completed the final race.

I don't understand why people have posted negative votes for Atomic's guide. This achievement is not about skill, it's about spending well in excess of 100 hours sat going round and round and round tracks! If, like me you find this tedious then you need some pointers on how to make it less of a pain! Hiring a driver is the only way to go and if like me you've finished the game 100% you realise that you can't just leave your console unattended, you have to load up a race every 10-15mins which means a strategy like Atomic suggests may just help you out. There isn't a quick and easy way to do this achievement so everyones views and pointers may help someone else out! I've given all the guides a thumbs up as they all help someone build their own strategy and be able to try new ideas.

I think that this is a good guide too. I took my box into work for a while to set up races, but then too many people started visiting my laboratory randomly and I was afraid they'd question why it was there. I'm sure if I had a government job I'd be encouraged to play on taxpayer time, ha. Thumbs up!

You know, Atomic never mentions hiring a driver, which may explain the negative votes. Also, do you need to finish season 6 or just get to level 50?

You don't need to finish season 6 or get to level 50, you could in theory hire drivers to do the whole slog for you through 'event list'. You'd have to be a masochist though to want that acheivement without playing the game yourself and getting the others.

I have been running races (hired) here and there for over two months now, still have about 100+ races to complete.

So glad to see that our society can now give the illusion of solid work while actually plooding away at cheevos. Hah. In all seriousness, great guide, I hope to use it when time permits, and I can really put the effort in. I'm looking forward to joining a workforce comprised of such sneaky buggers. Cheers!

A few questions:

1) About what season do you get to by the time you finish it? I just finished season 6 FYI.
2) Do you have to do this is season mode, or can I just gold-out all the tracks in the event list?

Thank you so much!

I guess to explain why I'm even asking #2 (above) is what if some of these races are already Gold's from doing them in the event list (like so many of mine are)?

By Xonatron on 26 Oct 2011 16:57
Doesn't matter what season you're in, but you do a lot in the seasons. You just need every event in the event list to be gold to get this, so don't re-race the ones you already got gold in. Once every event in the list is gold it pops on the event completion screen (when you're given the cash) after the final race.

This may sound like a dumb question, but do you need to be racing all of these in the seasons? ( i.e after finishing season 6, can you just do the remaining ones in the Event List?) I ask only because the way the achievement is worded, it makes it seem that all must be completed in the Season Play mode. Thanks

By vBURSToACTIVZv on 31 Jan 2012 04:14
It's not that difficult. Select races (I did it in order) from the event list AFTER you complete all your season play. The races on the far right take longer so you can start those then go to lunch.

You have to start each race, then choose HIRE DRIVER, then choose START RACE. Nothing is automatic except the actual driving, you even have to hit CONTINUE after the race is done and setup the next one yourself.

Urmz.. i read allot of info on this season play yr 6 but i finished season 6 and now im racing yr 7 but i cant find any info about season 7.. so can anyone tell me something about season yr 7. On my screen at the beginning of my second race of yr 7 it says i need to do 12 more weekend races. Including the races on weekdays... But i finished almost al the races in the event list. Except for 4 r1 races. So if i finish only the ones left in my event list, i get the Achievement all gold?

Forget Season Play mode after you've completed year 6, You will get a better view of what races you need to do and can select which races you want to do first in the Events List. There's no easy way around this achievement, but I've found it is best if you race the events you enjoy and hire a driver for the events you don't enjoy.

@Cookie Trays.. in short no. Finishing season 6 is about 15-20% of the total number of races needed. There is at least another 60+ hours of grinding after you complete season 6 before you get the solid gold achievement.

Thought I might impart some knowledge. After some calculations, I've found that this achievement takes 135+ hours, and that's a conservative estimate. More realistically, it would take upwards of 150 hours.

Just finished this finally. I've been working from home from lockdown, with three monitors and just switched one to my 360.

This took an entire four weeks M-F, with little lost time between races.

What an incredible waste of time, but it's done. +1 for the guide

I got this achievement on 12-27-09. I did no online races and raced until I was level 50 and had all the achievements I needed before I started to hire a driver. It's best to plug in the controller so it doesn't go dead in the middle of a race.

It took me 118 hours driven, almost 30 hours in menus and there were 1053 races total for 220 events. If you are a completionist, make sure you have something to do while you are going for this because if you check your messages or anything, the race won't run in the background - it will pause - so you will have to just let it sit and tough this one out. Good luck!

Just a few pointers. As others have mentioned, get to level 50 first and keep those spendy cars you get on the way. The Ferrari FXX is a great example as it cost 3 million credits otherwise and you need it for one of the toughest STOCK only race series.

You can use the Event List to see a nice grid of all the events. It is great for seeing which golds you have and filling in what you are missing. But don't rule out Season Play. If you can get it to generate a series you need (for example, get in that FXX before selecting a series) you actually make more cash doing Season Play because you get bonus money for winning each series and for every championship race.

Most of all, I am a big fan of the Hire Driver feature. Their gold medals count for you (but they keep half their winnings). A play'n'charge cable or wired controller definitely helps for this, especially on longer races. You can eat a meal, take a nap, or whatever else you need to do, and still be grinding out gold medals and earning cash for expensive cars. I'm making about 35k while I type this solution. :)

Have a nice drive!

By UK Zac on 14 Sep 2012 22:11
As long as you set the difficulty to easy, a hired driver will almost always win the race. Unless you enter a bad car for the event. With a good car and easy settings, I've never had a hired driver lose.

By Wimp Lo 69 on 15 Sep 2012 02:10
You CAN complete the races from the event list and it WILL count towards the achievement. You can ALSO use the event list to look for missing gold medals from season play. I hope that is more clear.

Is it faster to finish a race using a hired driver or by actually driving myself? I would figure hiring a driver would be faster because they never crash and always take the best route.
0
0
By TheBlackxRanger on 07 Jun 2013 23:53
Unless you are exceptionally good (or bad wink) at driving, it would probably be about the same. Most important is to have the best car for the race. It does take a minute or so to set up the hired driver, so for really quick races it's probably faster to do it yourself. If I remember right (it's been a while) hired drivers suck at Drag races, so do those yourself.

To hiring a driver wich play for you is a very good idea. You will receive 0exp. And half prize money but the mental stress level will be good . I really hope for no bugs problem. I only have to do less 10 events and today i will complete this beautiful and insanely long game laugh

just want to clear out a small detail everyone seems to want to know:

you do NOT have to use season play.

you can do all events in the event list, you don't even have to complete a specific season

just go to event list, select an event/race, then either play or hire a driver until you have them all gold

when you collect the earnings from the very last race, the achievement will pop

04 Sep 2018 16:36

You will need Driver Level 50 or you can not do the Nürburgring Nordschleife Full Circuit Endurance Race and the R1 World Championship.

You also need to install Disc 2's data to unlock Nürburgring Nordschleife Full Circuit, and it's shorter variants, Fujimi Kaido Full Circuit and it's shorter variants, along with Rally di Positano and it's shorter variants on your event list.

Events that will be locked without the Disc 2 Data;
Super Lap Days Class F through R1
Rally Series Class F through R1

You may be able to get this achievement without installing the second disc's data, but I am not recommending you do this. If those events are completed and the Track DLC is removed from your console, those events will still be marked as completed.

After you reach Driver Level 50, you can hire a driver to do all the races for you for this achievement. Or you can do them yourself.

If an event is marked with a check mark, that Event Is Done with All Gold medals. Green Box means your current car can do the event. But it may need upgrades to be competitive. A Blue Box means you have a vehicle in your garage that can do this event. Grey box means you don't own any vehicle that can do this event.

Good luck, happy racing.

This is the most time consuming in the game. You need to finish 220 events in 1st place, and every event consists of 3 or more different tracks.

The fastest way is to hire a driver compete the race for you. He will take 50% of the winnings and you won't be able to earn any XP, but this way you don't actually have to race. You can just set the race up and then go do something else until the race is finished.
