WATCH THE VIDEO: You do not need to go to autovista or install disk two. Simply go to free-play mode, chose car manufacturer Delorean (DMC), choose the one car available, choose an ovular track or a track with a long straightaways, turn auto-braking off, start the map and keep it straight and you should get the achievement without any problems..

The main problem I think people might have is that the speed on screen is in KMph and not miles by default, at least is was for me, which is kinda cool as in my country we use KM and not miles, for others like me you will either have to change the setting to miles per hour or just get the clock to 142 KMph (141.622 km to be exact about it) Good solution though.

There is 1.6 Km in a mile (I live in canada) so for anyone having this problem just make sure you convert your units of measurement but you should still be able to get this achievement. The reason they did not change the achievement for other countries is because it is referencing an american movie.

This can be unlocked in Singleplayer or Multiplayer
You can do this in Career, Rivals Mode, Free Play (Quick race, Splitscreen or Hot Lap) or Multiplayer.
There are various tracks you can get up to 88mph in a stock Delorean DMC but if you wish to make it easier on yourself you can upgrade the car to make it faster.
Easy tracks this is possible on:
Benchmark Test track (Speedway)
Top Gear Test Track (Drag strips)
Nürburgring Nordschleife (Has a long straight at the start)
Sedona Raceway Park (Full Circuit)
Sunset Peninsula Raceway (Speedway is an oval track)
Twin Ring Motegi (Super Speedway)
Road America
Indianapolis Motor Speedway (The Brickyard Speedway)
Le Mans
Here's a video demonstrating this on a Hot Lap on the Benchmark Test Track (Speedway)

Simply select the DeLorean and "Nürburgring Nordschleife" as track because start/finish line lies on a perfectly long straight (called "Döttinger Höhe"). Just put the pedal to the metal and cruise straight on untill the achievement pops up. :D
I went with the Sedona Raceway Park (Speedway) to get this achievement with the DeLorean. Also, if you haven't got it yet, I also found that by keeping the pedal to the floor, I also got the "Flat Out" achievement too!

What I did was i bought the DeLorean in Career mode and did a Quick Upgrade to Grade C, went into Free Play, Hot Lap, when it came to selecting cars I went to My Garage and selected the DeLorean, the track i picked was Top Gear Outer Loop (3rd track) and i got the DeLorean to 88 mph within 10 seconds.
Take the DeLorean on the Nurburgring, whip a 180 at the start and peg it down the back stretch.
